Hi all!

I'm not just new to the forum, but to e-cig in general. I bought a Mistic (yes spelled with an I. I found one online spelled with a y) package and like it, but looking to go nic free. They only sell nic free carts on their web site, and shipping is as much as the pack! So I've begun experimenting with DIY e-juice and it's come along ok, but I don't feel the "hit". I went with a 70% vg 15% distilled water 15% flavor recipe. It tastes good, and creates lots of vapor but no hit like the carts I got in the kit. I don't want to go back to cigars :( Any advice?

It can be difficult to get the "hit". I would suggest PG in a higher consentration and leave out the water. Lets say 80% PG 20% VG then add flavoring to taste. Also nicotine usually plays a role in the hit the higher the level the harder the hit. Some flavors add an extra bit of hit as well cinnamon and menthol are two that come to mind. Another option is to use higher voltage or lower resistance attomizers or Cartomizers. Either way it produces more heat and you get a bigger hit.

Hope this helps and good luck.

The nic content provides throat hit that your missing so you probably aren't going to get the same hit with no nic juice. There are ways to get back though and you can find those in the DIY forum. Some people use a slight mixture of PGA or Vodka which provides some TH. There are also products sold that are said to provide TH. VG also subdues TH and Flavor so you might want to experiment with using higher levels of PG in the mix instead of VG.

Welcome aboard, Capt....

Nicotine plays a role in hit, but there are other ways around it, as 976 suggests...

I'd suggest looking into using pepper. Search the site and you'll find info. Also, I've used the Jalapeno flavoring from Perfumer's Apprentice, and it adds a boatload of throat hit, but not a lot on the flavor front. Might be worth a try...

Cutting PG down may decrease your throat hit also. People use VG to increase vapor production (and for other reasons) but at the expense of hit. I think I'd use straight PG and add flavoring...

Best of luck!

Nicotine is hit

You can get some throat sensations with flavors like mint, menthol, cinnamon, ginger, other spices, pepper, some liquor flavors.

You can buy TH additive like QHit (FreedomSmokeUSA, OneStopDIYShop, Liberty-Flights.com) or Vapornine has a different hit additive or try something like FreedomSMokeUSA pepper juice or flavoring

And use high PG base. VG dulls flavor (as well as nicotine's TH). PG lets through flavor and nicotine's TH. So if a flavor has a throat sensation, VG would dull that. What VG adds is a thicker feeling to the vapor.

Guess I must be a sissy or something. Though i was a 2-pk a day smoker (lights), I didn't like the TH from stronger vapes. Couldn't 18mg of nic at all for that reason -- burned too much. But TH seems important to most vapors.

me too. i could care less about throat hit. I'm a vapor girl. i vape nearly 100% VG
