If the device has built in variable voltage than it is not a true mech mod. The itaste i34 is a VV device, albeit a very beast one. As others have stated, Mech mods are nothing more than a battery tube. The main benefit will come if you intend on using RBA/RDA and plan to do sub ohm builds as most VV devices will only be able to push a limited amount of watts and therefor can't fire the low sub ohm coils. You can put a kick in your mech mod if you really want VV but it defeats the purpose and you won't be able to do sub ohm very well. Personally, once I went mech and started building my own coils i never touched my VV devices again. But then I like sub ohm coil builds. If you have no intention on doing sub ohm, and I don't recommend it unless you seriously do your homework, then a VV mod will work just fine. I am not a huge fan of the itaste i34 but that's just my opinion. It's just too big for my taste. If I was gonna go that big I would just get a Big Nasty or a Hades mech mod. If you plan to go mech, here is what you need to consider;

1. Voltage drop: better mech mods have little to no voltage drop. And yes, you will notice a one volt drop when you fire.
2. Switch: do you want spring or magnet.
3. Battery: High Drain IMR are preferred, especially for sub ohm. Sony VTC5 are some of the best but that's another debate.
4. Charger: get a good one. Nite Core or Efest intellicharger is your best bet.
5. RBA or RDA: This is honestly equally as important as the mod itself. Research the different styles, pros and cons, and get a good one. Kayfun is best bet for a newbie. They are basically bullet proof.

Hope this helps.

The OP said it's not really a mech he was interested in but liked to LOOK of it, which is why I suggested the 134 INSTEAD of a mech.
i guess just metal to make it look better, but what is the advantages of having the mod? im still pretty new to all this lingo and that looks cool! where would i be able to get something like that?

No worries edyle. In no way was I trying to call you out. Just wanted to make sure he knows. I often hear newbies accidentally refer to VV devices as mech mods, hell even I did it when I first started. The itaste i34 definitely has a fan base, but I just never liked the look of it. Plus it's a hell of a lot easier to carry around my nemesis lol.

So a lot of people who are vaping of "AW IMR" batteries feeling safe might actually be vaping on counterfiets that came from Alibaba! ?
How would people get genuine AW IMRs?
RTD Vapor sells ONLY GENUINE AW batteries.....those mfg'd AFTER 1/14 have an oval "AW" hologram label..
Both Provari and ReosMods recommend GENUINE AW IMR batteries for their devices.....That's good enough for me!!:)
Happy (vaping) Trails!

I am about 6 months into vaping, I have been using the Itaste VV 3.0 , MVP 2.0 and recently the VTR. Yes I guess I have a thing for Innokin products. I am expecting my first Mech Mod (Nemesis) in the mail in the next few days with the Magnetic Switch purchased from Vape Royalty. I am beyond nervous about using this for the first time. I have been using 18650 Efest 1600 MAH unprotected batteries LI MN in my VTR and purchased 2 more from ebay only AW 18650 2000 MAH unprotected LI MN. I will not be using a kick at first and I do not plan on doing Sub Ohming either. My preferred method will be 1-1.3 ohms with a RDA (Trident, IGO W) RBA (Kayfun 3.1).

I have read numerous threads regarding this subject and I know that there are many situations where using a Mech Mod could be dangerous and I want to be as safe as possible. I guess my questions are this.

1. If I pick up my Nemesis and load the charged and rested battery and screw on my kayfun built at 1.3 OHMS am I at that point ready to vape safely or am I missing something.

2. Same question but instead of a Kayfun 3.1 at 1.3 I have a RDA at 1 OHM

I guess when its all said and done I just want to be safe and I want to know I am doing all I can to be safe. I have read the whole OHMS Law and Have looked at the calculator site I just want to make sure I am using it right.

I bout the 2 AW 18650 Unprotected 2000 MAH from ebay, should I be worried they are counterfeit and should I feel okay about using them as well as the EFEST.
Thank you for any help you can give me and I am sorry if I have confused anyone.

I have really immersed myself in this lifestyle and community so I really want to take the next step. I can not just keep buying VV/VW regulated mods. lol Thanks again!!!
