Ok, so my husband is *mostly* doing the modding, but I am helping.

I have read a few posts mentioning reusing the connectors off a dead battery. I am wondering what the best way to get them off is. I don't want to ruin them not doing it properly. I have a few dead 510s and a few dead 808s that I would like to use.

Thanks!

Three main ways to do it. One is having a threaded rod and using the wiggle method you can slowly pull it out. A small pipe cutter will cut threw the outside casing easy. The method i use is a dremel cut off tool and just slice threw the metal sleeve. I have some pics of it on a thread somewhere in the modders section I will see if i can find it and add the link.

There is always this option too if you have the cash to buy some. Connectors

+1 easiest

2nd easiest: You don't have to remove it.... just cut the tube off at the bottom of the connector and leave the tube on if you don't care. You can solder to the tube as a ground (it is a ground in a typical e-cig). No fuss. Plus, its painted if you want to leave it raised/exposed a bit.

3rd easiest: If you must have it removed from the tube, or it is not a tube type... see above for several great suggestions.

I've done three methods:
- Use a dead atty. Screw it into the connector and rock it side to side until the glue around the connector breaks. Hopefully it breaks before the atty does. This is why you use a dead one.
- Push it out. Remove the battery and everything from the other end, and use a metal rod or screwdriver to push the connector out. I had a low success rate with this one. The rod you use basically has to be the exact same size as the tube.
- Cut it out. This is what I ended up using mostly. Remove the battery from the other end then either cut it nicely with a saw or dremmel tool, or crush the tube about an inch and a half down from the connector and bend until it breaks off. crush it back into a roughly circular shape and remove the excess with tin snips, a file, or bending it off with pliers. As an added bonus with the pliers, you can leave the rough edges folded out, so when you put the connector inside your mod (putting it in from the inside) the pieces help hold it in place and give you a nice area to glue down.
