hello my names david i am new to this forum but i am not new to the vapeing world. i am very into mechanical mods now a days and recently purchased my second mod after my k101 shorted out because of the pin insulator.i ordered a caravela clone, igo w atomiser to go with it and some sony 30 amp vtc3's (wish fastech had the vt4). so in the sprit of things i cannot wait for it to get here i decided to build some serious coils to play around with my new mod. i only have 30 gauge kanthal a1 so i decided twisting 6 pieces together could be a good idea lol. but really im not new to electricity i have an ohm meter ( tho i question how accurate it is) i know how to calculate ohms law i took an automotive electrical class in college and passed with flying colors while also sparking new curiousity to a new area of engineering.

but anyways im wondering what you guys think about how accurate my meter is i wrapped the twisted kanthal around a 1/16 diameter and its a 4/5 wrap and im getting around .4 per coil if i play around with the leads on the meter so pretty much does this look like a .2 ohm dual coil?

Welcome to the forums.:) I don't think anyone knows how to answer. Are you using batteries that are safe for a low ohm coil like that? We want to be welcoming to everyone but many of us are worried about how to handle posts like yours. There are a LOT of people building and vaping dangerously low coils without the knowledge on how to do it safely. If you do it in an unsafe manner we are all afraid your mod will explode and it will be bad for all of us with this government regulation looming.

i am very safty minded i understand ohms law and know how to use it, and my batteries will be sony vtc3's 30 amp discharge "safe chemistry imr" im just wondering does a 4/5 of30 awg x 6 ohm out to .4 i guess it sounds within reason. and from what i can tell .15 ohm really the safety limit of the sonys that would be pullnig 28 amps at 4.2 v

i dont have the atomizer or modd yet im just measuring at the leads of the coil and then estimating since its dual itll be half of .4

most meters are accurate enough. one thing you can do is attach the probes and try to wiggle the connection at were the probe leads go into the multimeter. if wigging these connections changes the reading, then i would not trust the meter.
also you can go to radio shack and get some resistors and check the resistance of the resistors against what the meter is reading.

its strongly recommend to never use more than half of the amps the battery is rated for, so if its 30 amps you should not try to go over 15 amps. 15 amps x 4.2 volts = 63 watts... 63 watts is a TON of power for an e cig.
