Hi Chellepelle! I got into this myself thinking it might get me thru work when I can't smoke, if nothing else..it gets you thru a lot more if you give it a chance!

We've somehow into the subject of storm prep here, this being my fault..we're in with a lot of Florida folk here, and we're gettin' hurricanes, they're not!

So, bad weather 20 miles east and west of me, and sunny, no wind or rain, at my place. Can't complain, but kinda freaky. I'll go out for a bike ride today after all...

Not a problem I was looking to add a comment about the weather. Looks like we missed a direct hit here. I was saying a couple weeks ago that Maine/New England was over due for a hurricane (not that I was cheering to have one). What has been interesting up here we have had our 7th confirmed tornado this year. We do have them, 1 a year if that, but this is kind of getting freaky. I'm not too concerned about Hurricanes and power outages at this time of year. As it's warm...would be like being up at camp... heck in the spring once it hits 45 degrees and the snow is gone...I start sporting sandals. It's the Ice Storms and being with out power for days and weeks for some that I am concerned. During this last ice storm, where I worked had a generator. I never looked forward to work so much as I did then.

The inhaler can be used at work, I advocated for that. I was told no at first by a manager (well they weren't sure 100% but said no I think they thought that was a pv), my argument that it is a prescribed medication and you can't really tell somebody they can't take a prescribed med (ones that affect safety i.e. pain killers, muscle relaxers etc you shouldn't be using of course I can see why you don't want anybody using that) I was then referred to HR who gave the ok because it was prescribed. Alas still the pv is a no-no. Another manager who knows about pv's thought it is a great idea and just thinks the higher ups are just not educated enough. And honestly until the definition of PV's come about (i.e njoy vs FDA) there is really no arguing I can do til then.

I am another new one to the womens room. I have been on the forum for a couple of months and finally worked my way here. I guess I am formally introducing myself

I was also born in 1951!! I am a 14 year BC survivor. 14 years ago I didn't think I would be here now, so this is just icing on the cake! Smoked about 1 1/2-2 pks a day for over 40 years. The coughing and closness in my chest is why I wanted to quit. Heard about ecigs on tv and thought it was a great idea. Got a 2 piece first...it wasn't bad but needed something more. Found this forum and got a 901 and fell in love I work 6 days a week, we have a family business and have had to let a lot of people go cause of the economy and have to cover a lot of hours, so there is little time to be on the forum. Got a laptop and try to go on at work too! So good to be here! Its a great place! I will shut up now

Chelle..yeah, it's the ice storms here too that really cause trouble in recent years..had one last Dec 12th and some poor folks never got to lite their Christmas trees thanks to no power 2 weeks later.

Hi, Laurie! I'm a 901 only vaper too, still using my original atty from mid May! It was a good choice too because it's so easy to make power supplies for... all my power supplies are home made.

I don't mind one bit!!!!....even if I do love big pink storks...or dorks...or whatever!!!...lol I got a great eye full of those beauties this past week. Sharky took me to the Beuna Vista Palace Hotel and Spa at Disney for 4 days, then 4 more days in Tampa and we went to Busch Gardens. Oh my, what a lovely time we had...and lots and lots of Mingos!!! And loads of other creatures!

Nice to see everyone jumping in here! All sorts of topics I can relate too:

Hurricanes: yes, being in S. FL, I've evacuated my time or two for those blow-hards. No, I'm not prepared yet. We just moved down here last year right before hurricane season started, and with my husbands death, I could care less. This year, it's just stress and crap that got in the way. NOW, we are moving the second week of September (anyone volunteer to help me move 3 blocks?) It should be easy enough..but I WILL have to get storm ready when I move.

Moving: see above!!!!...lol

Christmas in FL: as my parents said in 1974 "Happiness is your ice scraper melting in the back window of your car!" Yup, that happened. And my dad putting up Christmas lights in a bathing suit is a sight I'd rather forget!!!!!..but no snow at Christmas is a bit depressing. (S/O and I are thinking about moving to NC...maybe some snow there once in a while!)

Oh, and the "Sharky" I mention is NOT the same one as on the boards here! My Sharky is ALMOST a convert to e-cigs. He's leaving Monday for 2 weeks in Iceland and NOW wants an ecig to take on the plane and his trip....guess who is giving up one of her 510's and her PCC so he can have it? I am HOPING like mad he gets back and pics it up full time. His doc told him to quit last week, he was wheezing. 'Nuff said!

So, I'm just now home, going to place a nice fat order or two on the net for new ecig toys, then I'm off to bed. We lost the a/c in the car on the west coast today and it was a HOT drive across Alligator Alley.....I'm beat!

Good to see you again Mingo! I was wondring where you Wandered off to! Pat I was born in Co. and lived in Wyo. for 4 years..lot's of trips to Denver and Ft. Collins. (the nearest mall). I LOVE audio books! I always have something playing when I am in the car. Even they Grands just ask..what's the story about today..when I drive them to and from Tampa to St. Cloud.
The oldest is too cool to listen, he has an Ipod or whatever plugged into his ears..but will ask a question about what's going on once in a while, his volume is turned down I think.

Thanks MaryKay,, we have a couple of things in common,, I have actually gotten off the interstate in the middle Denver once lol..My sister was there for some sort of business school.. and all those one way streets like to drive me mad trying to get to her hotel on a tiny side street to meet up with her... never again lol.... Everyone has to fly to Colorado Springs or find their own way out of Denver lol.... Have been to Wy many times, I love it up there.
Some day I will get a kindel for my audio books so I can take them with me.. My poor wish list is bursting at the seams lol .. Doing the Dune series now and found the best group of mediations that I have ever come across so that is pretty much my daily staple as of late... Thank goodness I have a lap top and can move my listening around the house as I do chores and crafting... The horses don't really find much intrest in the auido books,, at least not as much as they found watching me play video games when I had the play station out in the barn... The animals always give me a dialy dose of humor each day...

When I first started reading I thought I'd welcome newcomers to the group and then I saw the dates and realized I was the newbie!!! Well, welcome everyone. There is so much in here that I can relate to, I wouldn't really know where to start except my condolences to those who lost loved ones recently. Lori, your story is incredibly sad. I'm glad to see you are getting on with your life slowly.

I could write book about hurricane prep. I thought I was one of the few who went totally overboard with preps for my preps but they certainly have come in handy. We also went thru a Cat 4 on St. Maarten in '95 (Luis) where conditions were terrible. I was the only one who thought to fill the bathtub with water and tape the stopper in place so we could at least rinse off. We also had supplies I brought from home-flashlights, radios, etc. because it had already been a bad year for storms. (We've been going there for almost 30 years the end of Aug-beginning of Sept. and it was the only year I did that). trip to the grocery store which took all day completed our preps but we were NOT prepared for the actual hurricane itself-what an experience. I taped the events as they were happening and came home and transcribed on the computer The result was a 22 page story that still gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes when I read it.

Mary Kay, you and I have so much in common I can't believe it. I, too, am an audiobook nut. Plus, we share our love of genealogy. There were several other things but this poor tired mind can't remember them now-it's past time for bed.

Yep, another prep nut! I can't wait to move back to the West Coast (Tampa). I am tired of Hurricane central! No matter where the blased things hit Fl., they have to cross us! One even missed us, hit the Panhandle, came out in Ga. and paid Fl. yet another visit and hit us! (3 landfalls for i storm) I hate tourist storms!8-o
