Hello, I'm currently 23, and really don't smoke much. I've been smoking lightly since 21, and have been trying to quit FULLY since. Not sure if buying an e-cig will actually save me money, but I'm hoping it'll help me quit. Budget is $100, and I'm just trying to buy a device that is reliable and safe. I'd rather the device look like a cig (doesnt have to be exact) as I am addicted to the culture of holding a cylindrical object and smoking it. What would you guys recommend? I've been too some websites after viewing the forums, but some sites look very sketchy.

Hi and welcome to ECF. If you aren't a heavy smoker and want something similar to a cigarette in size, the Volt would be my first recommendation, Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette. I'd suggest at least 2 batteries to start with so their Standard Starter Kit, a box or 2 of carto's, and a few bottles of juice would get you started and hold you for a while. They're also an ECF approved vendor with a top notch reputation.

I agree. Smokeless Image with their Volt is very budget friendly and fast shipping. I just received my starter kit Saturday afternoon and I know its only been 3.5 days but Saturday was my last analog. I smoked for 14 years then I started rolling my own. But now I vape and I don't smell like an ashtray. By the way this is my first post and got to rave about Smokeless Image. Check them out in the sub forum.

Wow you guys reply QUICK, and you guys are very supportive and kind! Thank you very much for the feedback. So what do I do after I click the starter kit, I choose the battery color and flavor im guessing? Manual for pushing a button to light and Auto if I want it to be automatic right? I think I read somewhere that manual is better, is that true? And does that starter kit come with the black, silver, or white unit?

Hi! I'm new too!
Well done in terms of decision making! Becoming an e-smoker will probably be the best decision of your life.
That's how it was for me anyway :)

Well, as for the reccomending part, I personally buy THIS starter kit for the past few months and so far I am very happy. It doesn't cost much at all and I love the Menthol flavour but there's loads of other flavours to choose from in the cartridges section. I suggest you try it out. It's great for beginners and it's really extremely similar to normal cigarettes.

Elaine :)

Hi jn, and congratulations on thinking about quitting! I just posted this in response to another similar question. It may or may not be useful to you. Whatever you choose, it's a much better thing you do now. :)

I would recommend you buy an eGo Twist kit - here (these sell out very fast by the way) 510 650Mah Black Excalibur Twist Kit [Black 650 EXC twist kit] - $50.00 : Vapors Choice, Ecigarettes & Parts Very reputable forum vendor. Then go here Gandalf (Purity) - $5.00 : Heathers Heavenly Vapes, Top Quality Custom E-Liquids Buy small bottle of Gandalf with 18 mg nicotine. I'm assuming you smoke about 10 a day. If you smoke a pack a day, then move the nicotine level up to 24 mg). This one is 100% VG. You will find a happy and fun adventure lays ahead. Then start looking at Rawr/Ahlusion/Mom&Pops to name a few. Order a few juice sample packs. You might want to try 80/20 or 70/30 PG/VG ratio for best throat hit. If you find you get a hard cough from inhaling you may be sensitive to PG and will need to lower the ratio. I believe HHV Gandalf is 100% VG. If you find you get "greasy lungs" feeling you may be sensitive to VG. You will intake a lot less nicotine than a regular cigarette provides in the time it provides, so chain vaping is OK. If you get a headache, lightheadedness, nausea that may be to do with the nicotine being too high. If you crave a cigarette then have one. If you crave a cigarette, but don't want one, then you may need a juice in a higher nicotine level to get through those 1st ones in the morning/last ones at night/after a meal, etc moments. Hope that helps. You have a whole bunch of us here with nowt but good karma and support for you, so let your journey begin. Let us know how you do.

Welcome to the ECF well if you are looking for something very Cigarette looking then maybe this will help. I know I love them and I still use them. 510-t They use a drip tank and are one of the best cig look alike starter kit. The price is pretty reasonable. NW Vapors has pretty good eliquid as well.

Welcome to the forums. :2cool:

Picking the automatic or manual is strictly your choice; you will find users prefering one over the other. If you enjoyed a cig dangling from your lips while using your hands for something else, an auto might be for you. Many people feel they get more control over the vape experience by using the manual batteries. The auto batteries, despite the claim that they are "sealed", really aren't; auto battereies are typically more prone to be damaged by juice that may leak from a cartomizer or clearomizer than a manual battery.

The starter kits should allow you to choose the color battery that you want from a drop down menu while ordering. Also you can chose the length of the battery (65 or 78mm). As with many things in life, bigger is better, esp with batteries.

Even though the starter kits offer a couple of batteries, I'd strongly recommend getting a couple more. The cig-alike batteries only last 2-4 hrs per charge, and if you are not particularly meticulous in charging a battery as soon as it dies, you may find yourself without a charged battery to vape on. No battery = no vaping.

Better yet, also try one of the fatter batteries, an X2. Depending upon the size you order, you can get 6 -13 hours between charges on these. In addition, the pass thru charger cable allows you to vape while the battery charges. Get the 1.5v USB/AC wall plug for faster charging.

You'll need something to put on your batteries to vape. Cartomizers, clearomizers, or ce3 nano are all good, each with a slightly different vaping experience. Choice is yours to make.

Get a couple of sampler juice packs to see what flavors you might like. If you were a menthol smoker, be sure to get a menthol juice. If not, get a tobacco sampler.

If you were not aware, there is a sub-forum here: Smokeless Image just for Smokeless Image customers. Everyone there has used the product and likely can answer any questions you may have. There are also demo and review videos available there of SI products.

Good luck and welcome again.

I also recommend the Smokeless Image "volts"! They work great. I started off with the manuals with the buttons... just because of things I had read on this forum. I switched to automatics for one reason only:
I like to carry them (3 at a time) in a pretty eyeglasses holder and didn't want to worry about them jostling up against each other in my purse (possibly setting off the "on" switch). With the automatics I know that there is absolutely no way they can fire unless I am taking a drag.

I now way prefer the "KGO" batteries but still also use, and really like, the volts
