Hi,
I am 35 years old and have been smoking for almost 15 years. Usually 6 - 7 cigarettes a day and sometimes 10. I wanted to quit smoking and tried chewing gums but eventually I ended up getting addicted to both gums and cigarettes, so I got rid of gums and continued to smoke. this time I wanted to try vaping and started with Blu Disposals, I liked the flavor of tobacco but that seems to be expensive so I bought a Blu Plus with some tanks of same flavor but the tank doest last more than two days, again I bought a Blu Pro this time but that was even worst. it dint even last until one filling. vapor started getting low and by the time I filled the clearomizer second time it was almost no vapor at all. Blu Plus seems to produce decent amount of vapor than Blu Pro, but the tanks are too expensive, I want to have some advice from fellow experienced members about what kind of vape kit to buy and where to buy online. For some reason I am little afraid of going for advanced kits because of hearing about the exploding kits. I looked at smok V8 baby kit and Smok X8 kit and liked their reviews. would any one of this be good for me? what e liquid would you suggest me? I would like it to be between 3%-6%. and prefer a pen style kit. all your advices and suggestions would really help me make a right choice.
Thanks,

1) Common issue you are experiencing: Blu -- stop buying it.

2) Exploding mods are due to user error, in almost all cases. Look up battery safety and know that exploding mods are an issue more common with unregulated mods (also look it up).

3) V8 Baby Kit/Smok X8 kits are fine starter kits. Keep in mind that Smok is known for having poor coil quality.

4) Find a juice in 3%-6% that tastes good. With 70% or more VG with those sub-ohm kits you listed.

How about something like this? reference point only until we learn your country.

Joyetech eGo AIO | PV's and Mods | VaporBeast

The Smok that was mentioned is the polar opposite of the Blu you are using? I am suggesting something a little leaning towards the Blu but thousands of times better.

Agreed

Quite true. Unregulated mods are more commonly known as mech mods. Avoid them unless you really know what you're doing. Mech mods don't offer anything much you can't get from a regulated mod nowadays, so there's no point in going there.

The setups that have been recommended have internal batteries. Their specifications will list a minimum resistance (X ohms). Don't go below that, and you should be fine.

If you decide to move on to replaceable battery mods, the most important factor will be selecting the right battery and getting your batteries from a reliable source. Our resident battery guru, Mooch, has a very helpful blog:

Index | E-Cigarette Forum

In particular, you'll need to calculate your amp draw:
Calculating battery current draw for a regulated mod | E-Cigarette Forum

And then select a good battery:
Mooch's Recommended Batteries | E-Cigarette Forum

If you have any questions at all, or aren't sure of your calculations, feel free to ask more questions. There's no shortage of people here who are willing and able to help.

4) Find a juice in 3%-6% that tastes good. With 70% or more VG with those sub-ohm kits you listed.

Minor correction here - you'll probably want a 3 - 6 (or possibly higher, but 3 - 6 is a good place to start) mg/ml juice. If your country tends to go with percentages, that would be 0.3 - 0.6%.

This is true. I copy and pasted what the OP wrote in his post, but this would definitely be what you need to look for.

For @androiduserp

To further help you, we would need to know (1) your country of residence; (2) your preferred inhalation method (mouth to lung, like a cigarette; or directly to lung like a joint or asthma puffer)

None of this is a surprise. Blu is expensive junk. They think they are vaping. They are just an ugly, greedy (tobacco) company selling rubbish to the masses. Blu UK also supported the new EU laws limiting vaping to 743 MILLION people. That's how evil they are. Supporting laws which limit vaping products so they can win the vape race.
It's unbelievable the way the world operates with an internet just sitting there waiting for people to research new technology.

Thanks,

Smok reviews, reviews in general are not to be trusted. The e-cig review industry is so far up it's own commission-driven rear end, you can smell the dung from 100 miles away.
I would not recommend the V8 stick. It's a brilliant vape when it works (I have used/tried 30-40 of these pens at vape shows) and if you can afford the atomizer coils, but these 'pen' products all come with two unacceptable flaws. You cannot control the power, so your vape starts strong and gets weak but worse than that, IF the power these units is designed to produce vapor at (20watts/50 watts/70 watts) and your liquid or vaping style is too much for it, then you become a slave to burnt atomizers. The money in vaping right now is selling coils and juice. The high-power pen mods are just perfect for siphoning money.

If you enjoy the V8 experience (and I did... it's terrific when it works, really... outstanding) buy a box mod and a/the Smok tank and buckle up for an expensive but satisfying ride.

Good luck. :)

I never did directly to lung so I would prefer mouth to lung.

Coil life is dependent on a lot of factors. If you use darker, sweeter juices or naturally extracted tobacco or high VG ratio in your juice, all these factors can affect coil life, but it also depends on what wattage you are using, and how much juice you go through a day. So it's hard to predict, but a reasonable guess might be anywhere from 4 days to two weeks.... But that's honestly a guestimate.

Secondly, you really need to identify the type of vape you are seeking before you buy anything new. There are TONS of mouth-to-lung setups that are better than what you are using, but if the inhalation style that you have you like, you may be completely overwhelmed by a direct-lung setup and the amount of vapor you'd be inhaling. A smok stick may work well for you, or it may be too high wattage, too low resistance, and you may find yourself going through more battery life and more juice than you would with a higher resistance "MTL" setup, which is more like the draw of a cigarette. I hesitate to recommend anything without knowing what it is you WANT. There are some good starter setups out there that are pretty small or even pen style in the MTL realm that are FAR better than the Juul. Using those setups you would be seeking HIGHER nicotine to substitute for the amount of vapor you are inhaling, which will be less. As a MTL vaper, I use 18 mg/ml nicotine and I was smoking 3 ppd.

If I were to go to a DL setup, to compensate for the amount of vapor I would be inhaling per puff, I would probably be somewhere around 6 mg/ml.

With ALL that said, it's good to get a lot of feedback and also figure out what you WANT out of a setup, many "product reviews" are "paid" in the sense that the reviewer receives the setup for free. So something being highly reviewed does not NECESSARILY make it good, or good for YOU as a new vaper. Let us know what kind of vape you are looking for and we can be more helpful.

Finally, welcome to ECF and congrats on becoming a vaper. Sometimes people don't hit on the "right" setup for them with their first try, but through research and figuring out what you'd LIKE out of a vape, I am sure you can get there. And keep your Blu as a backup once you switch in case something ever goes wrong with your primary vape. :)

2ml a day? I'm guessing that's based on your existing experience.
2ml was unusually low, even back in 2012/13 when we (folks) were vaping 12mg or 18mg sometimes 24mg, at 7 watts of power. If you vape at 14 watts (say) and reduce the nicotine strength, then 4ml is a more likely outcome.
I vape 4ml a day in a Joyetech tank with drop-in factory coils. They last 6-8 days on average. This is my work rig, so I pick up something more exotic in the evenings.
4ml is not a lot of puffs.
..just so you have an idea... :)

Oh, you want MTL. I would suggest the Aspire Zelos kit that comes with the Nautilus 2 tank. It's a good "starter" MTL tank and you will be able to choose your own juice as well as internal battery which can be helpful at first.

Other setups to recommend might be an Eleeaf Istick Pico starter kit, which can come with an internal battery or a removable one. The internal battery comes with a Melo II tank and the external comes with a Melo III which is a slightly more airy tank than the Melo II. Both (I think) can use different coils than the ones supplied and it's a nice, versatile first choice that won't break the bank.

Some folks (especially if you'd like a "stick" style battery really like the T18 kit or the T22 kit. This is fixed wattage, so it's slightly less versatile in terms of being able to adjust the wattage, but many people enjoy them, especially the attached tanks which are good MTL tanks. Keep in mind that most tanks can be moved on to different "mods" or batteries, so even if you don't get exactly what you want in a starter kit, you can switch tanks/mods.

As far as e-liquid if there is a vape store near you that does tasting, that will help you find flavors you like, and many e-liquid online companies will sell "sample" kits so you can try a variety of flavors.

Best of luck,

Anna

I started with a Joyetech eGo AIO and I wouldn't recommend it personally. The problem I had with mine was how it draws liquid from the very bottom of the coil rather than the sides. What would happen is bubbles would form under the holes preventing the liquid from wicking properly. I constantly had to loosen the top to let the bubbles surface otherwise I would eventually end up getting a dry hit and once that happens the wick is burnt and you need to change the coil. I was using a 80VG mix so you MAY be ok with a 50/50 juice with this AIO. I was stuck with this pen all summer at the cottage and almost went back to smoking. When I got back home and could place an order I bought a couple of Aspire PockeX's which is about the same size as what I was using but better coil design. The only problem with it is no airflow control. The airflow is about the same as a loosely rolled cigarette. The other downside is they only sell .6 ohm coils for it so if it is to strong you are SOL.

I find the AIO (small-ish pen, 0.6ohm) and the Penguin (0.6ohm) both deeply flawed products.
Weirdly, the Penguin vapes better using the 0.25ohm coil at much higher power, obviously.
I do not recommend the Penguin at all. The AIO can be OK, but with the wrong liquid you may as well forget decent coil life.
I am tempted to order an Innokin T20S to see if that's a good model to pass on to new vapers.

If you would prefer a good starter is the Eleaf istick 30w device. Simple and reliable, budget friendly, internal battery. Aspire Nautilus or Kanger Toptank are good proven tanks.Toptank gives you more versatility to experiment with air flow. Both tanks have a good selection of coils to experiment with and get decent coil life.

yes, this is based on my current experience with Blu. usually a disposal or a blu plus tank would last 2 days.

thank you, but since I just started I am looking for more of a AIO setup rather than trying different setups. just refill the liquid and more vapor..
