Well I suppose in 3 months, I'll be upgrading to something else! Lol.
I'm about in the same boat. Ordered the apollo standard kit on the 8th it came a couple days later. It was alright but I found the throat hit to be to weak and even though it came with 2 batteries switching them out every couple of hours was a pain! Apollo told me I could exchange it but I think I am going to keep it just for a back up. I did however end up ordering the eGo. So more like 2 weeks not months lol. But I didnt find this forum till after I bought that kit and 55 prefilled cartos! Its fun being a noob isnt it? lol

I started on the Vapor Nine cig lookalikes and had to charge them every couple of hours also. Those batts cost me about $20 a piece. I ended up paying alot of cash for 2 more batteries so I could carry around 4 of them and spend all day charging them and worrying if I went off for the day, how was I gonna charge them. LOL. But they did get me to quit smoking even though they cost me an arm and a leg. Eventually I got an Epower, which is very similar to an Ego. Now I recommend Ego's or Kgo's for newbs. Cheap and last most of the day and are more powerful a hit on the draw. But we all tend to go for those cig lookalikes at first. It's a learning curve we must all travel.

First off, congrats on making the switch!
After reading the thread - I my 2 cents may sound a little bit of broken record but I figure I'd help so here it is:
1. I started with a cig-a-like as well, but I can tell you that if you really want to enjoy vaping to trully get you off of cigs you will eventually want a stronger mod (I know this was the case for me and many others)
2. Getting started, although many people have different opinions about what "mod" is the "best" (if one can even be called the best), its going to be the Juice that makes or breaks you. Try several flavors and see what you like - I personal like "Liqua" and I've started buying from Exhale Vapors they seem to have some great prices:
LIQUA
I don't know what flavors you personally like, but I like the Tiramisu - it has a rich / sweet flavor
3. For a good started mod I personally think that the Vision eGo Spinners are a good started - its nice b/c of the 510 connection it gives you a good variety of attachments.
4. For tanks - I personally enjoy the STV Vivi Nova, great unit for the price, it goes with the eGo Spinner - looks great, performs great, no complains really

After that you can get into some of the more advanced mods (or dive right in either way) but I figure that this is a great starting set-up!

Enjoy!

I've been lurking on the forums forever, finally couldn't read another damn post for research and just ordered an eRoll. I've used a friend's ego C and liked it, so with any luck I will be able to switch from analogs. Fingers crossed.

That should be a decent start for you, Erling. It's true what dlongbow says above about the juice being real important. At first I had to try several small samples to find flavors that satisfied me. And what someone thinks is delicious, you might hate it. That part of vaping is very personal and varies. At first you think you must have something that tastes as close to a real cig as possible. Most of us later realize we prefer fruits or sweets or teas or coffees, so try all categories cause you might be surprised what you end up liking.

Best of luck to you. Glad you chose to try vaping. :) Try out your kits. I've not tried those kits but I do know cig lookalikes do not have a long battery life and the throat hit isn't quite as strong. So if by chance you find you are not satisfied, just remember to try something else if you need to. A good ego type battery starter kit would be my recommendation :) But the V2 will help you get your feet wet and I did quit smoking cigs using a similar setup.

You'll probably find, as most have, that the cig-look-a-likes don't fill the bill and will want to move on to something else... As suggested above an eGo style starter kit will/should probably be your next step... Batteries have a longer charge/use time and the clearomizers usually provided with them hold a lot more juice and are refillable which cuts way down on your expenses...

Welcome to the forum! I also started with the v2, but got tired of charging the batteries all the time. I also found those cart's are expensive. Save the empty one's and refill them. You can use the boots and fill them about 2/3 full, then slowly squeeze the empty cart down. You'll have to have a paper towel on hand! There are many places to get e-juice from, and many different flavor choices.

I upgraded to a Joye eGo Twist 1,000 mAh variable volt and a DCT cartomizer tank. I found it to be much better for me. Of course, you may like the cigalike style.

Hi all! Me and the girlfriend have decided to go the route of ecigs. I ordered us the couples starter kit from V2, and assumed it was that simple. Just order the kit, then order cartridges as we need them. Now after looking here, I'm in over my head. Any help would be great.

I ordered us the normal size batteries (one automatic and one manual apiece), and the red full-flavored/nicotine/whatever cartridges. This information is yours to comment what you will.

Thanks ladies and gents!

Watch out for Apollo's exchange. They don't give credit for anything used.

Thanks for the info! I'm going to be trying some juices soon!

The only thing that concerns me is that I live in a rural area in the bible belt of the country, and I'm afraid enhaling through a silver/blue stick with a blue/white light with smoke exhaling from my mouth is gonna attract negative attention lol

You'll learn how to stealth vape and will probably end up getting a battery that doesn't light up eventually. :)

Yes, Joyetech eGo Twist from 650 to 1,000 mAh. They have the standard 510 thread. There is also the Vision Spinner, which is also a good choice.

I am not familiar to the kits that you guys have bought..Are they joyetch egos? what size are they? what thread count ? with this info I might be able to give you some pointers...

Thanks MiamiMom63! The ego C I tried had some sort of vanilla thing going on, and I was surprised that I liked it -- it felt like the vapour was the important thing for "cig" satisfaction, not so much the tobacco taste. Have to see what works when I actually make the switch. I've ordered some coffee and tobacco flavours from someone local who is well spoken of, figuring that intense flavours would be the best to start with. After that, who knows?

Oh, and another thing...your taste buds will change once they recover from the years of smoking so don't be shocked if you love a flavor the first 2 weeks and then all of a sudden it doesn't taste so great and you have to go on the hunt again. Lol.

This is something I am very much looking forward to. I've been smoking for 28 years. Enough already. :)

If you are within the first 30 days you can return the used kit and any unused cartos (pretty sure they meant the whole box and not just a single in the wrapper tho). I still have 8 boxes of unopened cartos. I don't like running out of things and was not sure how long a carto would last so I went over board in buying them lol Even though they are willing to take it back just in what I have saved in not buying cigarettes Ive almost paid for the whole kit + the cartos and I think traveling with it will be easier than the eGo so just seems better to keep it. But they were very nice and even told me I could continue to use it till my eGo came in and then return it.

I smoked 30 years and tried several times to quit in all different fashions. Since you mentioned you liked vanilla, my all day Vape is Clouds of Vapors vanilla cream. It's simply amazing, and I've tried a ton of juices. But that's just me. Figured I would mention it since you said you liked vanilla. It's not the cheapest but I highly recommend it to try.
