Hey guys.

I've been researching e-cigs non-stop for the past 2wks, and finally ordered a no-LED manual-switch 510 on Tuesday (guess which forum convinced me that this was the right choice..). I ordered it from Widow's Bead Work, at a nice price w/ free shipping. The tracking data says my package arrived here in NJ tonight, so it should be at my door tomorrow. I'm pretty excited . I also ordered 30ml of juice.

So I'm a 20-year old guy & I've been smoking about a pack a day for about 6 years. I know it's better to quit early, and since I'm a huge tech geek, I think a new piece of technology like the e-cig is a perfect fit for me. I plan on using it publicly, but probably not indoors (except in my home, obv).

I'll post an update in this thread once I've received the package & charged it for 8hrs (that's going to be tough, because I'm so anxious to try it! I'll survive the wait though). I'm thinking about video-taping my first experience with it, so that other newbies can get a realistic idea of what to expect in the beginning.

So that's all for now. I really need to thank this entire community here for all of the advice that's been shared. I would be totally lost without you guys. Hopefully I'll enjoy vaping and stick around here for a while. Let me know if you have any pointers that I might not be aware of.

Cheers
-Nick

Excellent choice on the 510...........just don't get in a rush. Spend the first few days treating it like a toy and the quitting cigs part will take care of itself. Don't think of it as quitting anything, that'll just put pressure on you and cost you sleep. You will seriously just start liking the flavor better than your old brand. What could possibly be easier.

Nperez, I think you'll love the 510. I limped along for a few weeks with a 402, cutting down on how many analogs I smoked, but just couldn't give them up.

Then I ordered the 510, got it a week ago, and I have not smoked an analog in five days. Don't even want one. :D

It is hard to wait while everything charges, but it's worth it. I followed the charging directions exactly (8 hours initial charge, use for 20 minutes, charge again for 1 hour) and I have had no trouble with my batteries.

Good luck and keep us posted! Drop by the 510 forum too if you have questions or just want to do some 510-specific reading!

Good choice on your e-cig, Nick. The original Dura (automatic) was my first e-cig, and I credit the powerful punch it provided as being the single biggest reason why my move from tobacco to vaping was so successful. Now that the 510 has come out with a manual version, it's amazing enough that I can forgive it its relatively short battery life. :)

Just remember to keep the cartridge moist (but no pooling liquid on top). The 510 is a juice hog, and it performs best with a moist cartridge. I personally don't even attempt to vape the cartridge dry. The atomizer runs so hot that you really do want to keep it moist.

Julie...Right you are...The battery life is non-existant...But the throat hit is great with the manual switch.I only drip with it...and the juice does disappear quick!! Overall far superior to the 901 I had been using!:thumb:The Wiz!

You'll love this little 510 puppy! Congrats on making the move to vaping. I just started last Sunday with the 510 unit and delicious medium menthol (E-SmokeyTreats brand) I'm really enjoying it. (Is it okay to enjoy something that seems like smoking???) We're sooo conditioned to feel bad.

At any rate, I've not pushed myself off analogs but found I instantly was only smoking 2-3 cigs a day at the most. That's down from a little over a pack a day. Some days I smoked just to understand how I actually inhaled, because it's mechanical after 37 years to the point where I didn't notice. I now can duplicate that with the 510 unit. (Straight into the lungs vs. into the mouth, then down the throat.)

Be prepared for a time of experimentation. How best to inhale, mentally noting when the vapor is diminishing or pull/drag is increased as a sign of drying out or batteries zonking, and learning to top off/change out cartridges in a timely manner. I bought a combination of products --pre-filled cartridges and juice, so I have been playing a lot this first week. Battery life is short, short, short -- always have one charging. Don't be afraid to look at the cartridge to visually see if it is moist too! (They don't bite.)

This forum has been invaluable to someone new for product opinions. Good luck!

NPerez, I was in a similar position to you - I'm 23 years old and have been smoking for ten years. Been a pack/day for about 6 years. About a month ago I ordered a no-led dura c (same as manual 510) as my first e-cig. I can vouch for everything that has been said in reply to your post.

One suggestion to ad: if you find that it is working for you (and my bet is, you will), don't wait until that 30ml bottle is running out before you order more supplies... Within ten days I realised I had virtually quit analogue smoking (without even trying). But my initial order ran out a little over a week ago and I immediately ordered more parts and liquids from eastmall and a sample pack from johnson's creek. Still waiting, and I have unfortunately gone back onto the cancer sticks :(

So be prepared!

JustJulie, Speedikeys,

Wow on the ditching analogs... I haven't even contemplated that. I really love to smoke and I've never tried (or wanted to try) to quit. When premade analogs got too expensive I went MYO and am happy with my current blend and smoke for about 70 cents a pack. When I saw the SCHIPS legislation coming, I "invested". As you may know, the tax went up @$25/lbs. This should be interesting when my Dura C and juice arrive. If this works out, I may have some 'currency' for the coming crash :)

Regards,
Kent C

:) Well, I never considered ditching the analogs either. In fact, I had given up on the idea of quitting . . . figured I'd tried everything, and I was doomed to be a smoker. However, I was hoping to cut down a bit seeing as I had creeped up beyond 2 packs a day and closer to the realm of 3 packs a day.

My fondest wish was that the e-cig could help me cut down my analog usage, and I wasn't even particularly greedy . . . a reduction to slightly less than two packs a day would have been lovely . . . down to 1 pack would have been more than I could hope for.

Imagine my disbelief when I got down to a couple of analogs a day within a few days of starting vaping. Shocked the hell out of me.

I hope you, too, wind up being an accidental quitter. :D

If not, that's okay, too. Any reduction in tobacco is a good thing. :)

I'm truly speechless. Although I know after being off premades for years now, my old 'Salem Ultra Lights' really don't taste good on the occasions where I tried them, so maybe it will go that road with the MYO's.

Yep, you'll love the 510. Get a manual USB passthrough and your set. Have a couple from Widow's myself and they still work great. Get a few extra atomizers when you get a chance. The 510 does burn hot and you may burn one up with a manual switch. Just hit the button wait 1 second, inhale and release button about a second before you stop inhaling. That'll keep the atty from heating up to much.

Enjoy your 510. Mine has been great. Also good call on ordering juice with the 510. I didn't get any juice with mine and the prefilled carts that come with it run out quickly. Had to smoke analogs for a week and a half while I was waiting for juice.

The batteries do run out quickly, but I always make sure I have one charged so I haven't had a problem yet. I think my next purchase will be a PCC so I don't have to worry about needing a power source when I am away from home. Probably will get a USB passthrough also.

I just recieved a 510 starter kit and some extra atomizers for my 901 from Widows Bead Work.
(Very nice person to buy from...:thumb::thumb: and fast shipping!)

The 510 is pretty nice ..The draw on it is kinda light , pretty good vapor..

Im still more comfortable with the 901 , tighter draw , slightly more vapor.

Its probably just a matter of time and tecnique and getting used too.

:)

Thanks for all the replies:)

Got it, charged it, and I've just tried it out for the first time.

The most difficult part for me so far has been learning how to draw from it correctly. I've noticed that I get ~10-20x more vapor when drawn very gently & slowly. As many have said before on this forum, smoking it like a cig simply doesn't work.

I tried smoking dry at first, and it wasn't working too well. Rather than finding a paper clip & figuring out how to get inside of the cart, I just dripped on the atomizer. Works well, and I'm glad I have a model with a protected battery.

I do have one question - in your experiences, do these really need a wait of 3 minutes in between puffs? I don't think I would smoke this at the rate that I smoke cigs, but I like to take about 4 or 5 pulls every time it goes near my mouth.

I'm gonna go figure out how to juice the cart now.. I'm enjoying this so far:D

I'm starting to settle in & get comfortable with this thing. I have 2 analog cigs left, but I really don't feel like I need one right now.. might smoke them just to get them out of my way. I think my general rule for keeping my atomizer alive will simply be to keep a finger on it & give it a rest when it gets noticeably hot.

The juice that I have doesn't taste like tobacco, but that's certainly not a bad thing. It tastes a lot like honey, and I love it. Now that I know that I like vaping, I'll probably order some different varieties of juice (I need to try coffee) & another spare atomizer, because I'm a bit terrified of both of mine dying out.

This is awesome! All of my time lurking around here has certainly paid off

It does have a break-in window. After a day or 2, you'll notice it really putting out the vapor no matter how you suck on it. My 901's like the slow draws and they do really good with the subtle flavorings. The TW's PCC is awesome when I'm out and about. LOL, didn't realize it came with a Titan 510 inside already. So I ordered a Titan 510 kit too and a bunch of atty's at the 5 per pack offer with a few spare manual batteries. Now I have 510's everywhere. LOL
