Hi guys,

got my joyetech ego-c together with a ce4 clearo not too long ago and have been vaping and enjoying the experience for quite some time. However, i still find it hard to kick away analogs. I suspect this is due to the ejuice i'm using as it does not contain any nicotine. I once tried hangsen's menthol and the red bull flavour which came with 9mg(?) of nicotine and found the throat hit to be very very harsh. Did not like it one bit and threw both the bottles away after a few mouthfuls.

However, with the 0mg liquids, i hardly get any throat hits and i'm wondering whether its the technique which i'm using the e-cig that is making the throat hit harsh with the other liquid and barely getting any throat hit with the 0mg liquid?

Cheers!

How many cigarettes do you smoke per day? I smoked a pack a day, and I found that 18mg level nicotine juice worked best for me. If you are a smoker, nicotine juice is recommended. The harshness could have been due to the brand of juice you were using. Hangsen is not known for really good juice. I would try another brand, with nicotine in it. You could also be sensitive to PG, a common ingredient in e liquid. You could try 100% VG liquid if simply switching brands from Hangsen doesn't work.

Menthol and mints have more TH by nature, not sure about the Red Bull though. I was at almost a pack a day and I'm at 12 for all my juices.

The way you take a vape will change the TH too, I get more with a lung hit than a mouth to lung. Hope this helps. Once you get a flavor and nic level that works for you it should be pretty easy to kick the sticks hopefully. Welcome to the family.

Hi and Welcome to ECF .. congratulations on the great attempt. Yes the Key to quitting is more in finding the 'right' e.Juice than anything else. The nicotine in the e.juice will cut back the cravings for the analog and make the switch to total vaping much easier. Therefore, I strongly suggest you throw nothing away for a bit. As you can mix flavors with flavors you don't like to come up with a mix you can handle. Suggestion number two... See if there is a Vaper Lounge near you. Normally there are 50 to 100 samples out on the table. At least that is the case in my area. Imagine this... a town population max of 24k having Three.. yes Three vapor lounges... that's a minimum of 150 flavors, not to mention the few the local smoke shops have.
Good luck finding a flavor .. and if you can't find one locally, I suggest JohnsonCreekSmokeJuice.com fast service... very adept at what they do, and like most places will regulate the nicotine content. At the moment I'm vaping a mix of their Vanda and Dark Swiss ... very smooth. Good for an all day vape for me.
Blessings and Joy,
Bliss

There are several variables that contribute to throat-hit (TH). Nicotine being the biggest contributor. As Mikey6 mentioned, yes... some flavors have a noticeable impact on TH too. Cinnamon can also impart TH and is a known "Tank-Cracker". The blend of Propylene Glycol (PG) and Vegetable Glycerin (VG) also plays a roll. This is usually referred to as "Mix" such as "I'm using a mix of 70/30 pg/vg". Higher PG will give a more pronounced TH than VG. Most vendors "recommend" a 70/30 blend since that percentage seems to offer the best combination of flavor and TH to the average vaper. Many of these vendors offer the consumer an option to customize your blend to suit your taste. If TH is not high on your list... a 50/50 mix at say, 12 mg nicotine is usually considered light and little TH.
I hope you follow.

I'm not even going to get into the power output/Ohm rating of your coils and other variables just yet, but that will increase/decrease your TH as well.

I hope this helps.

hello deathsmoochy, welcome to ECF

if you smoked (needed nicotine) your gonna need some juice
with some nic content if you have a 'craving'...

PG is very harsh and aggravating to me (maybe you too)
I found out qwick and the hard way and immediately switched
over to - 0%PG / 100%VG - juice mix

if your set up is the way you want to continue,
another route is to add throat hit with this stuff :
- Capsicum Electronic Cigarette Flavoring - Mt Baker Vapor - Electronic Cigarettes
BUT BE CAREFUL-READ WHAT IT SAYS !!

I say get some 100% VG @ 6mg, 12mg, 18mg etc in a small bottle and try it...

Good Luck

Hey guys!

Did not indicate that I smoke half a pack a day. The kit that I have right now doesn't have a vv/vw, so changing either one isn't an option.

Sadly, where I'm from, we do not have the freedom to vape openly, let alone have any vape lounge. Wish there were some locally though, would have been really nice for newbies like me.

I'm currently vaping on my own diy liquid, tried the 50/50 mix and also 70/30 mix, with 0mg nic. Either way, I found it to be harsh on the throat when I inhale the vape and I'm starting to think it's actually the technique that I'm vaping instead of the liquid I use.

Tried a few different techniques but most of the time I end up coughing when inhaling the vape, especially when vaping on my diy liquid. Still not sure what I'm doing wrong but hope all this could change really soon.

Cheers!

keep at it, don't get discouraged it takes a while to find your perfect combo! I would recommend some sample packs.

there are a ton of good vendors that the folks recommend here. for about $100 bucks you could get 5 sample packs from dif vendors and each brings 5 bottles on average. you will end up with 25 small bottles of samples. since you were a smoker I would recommend staying at around 6 to 12mg of nic.

me personally have 12 and 18mg bottles I alternate depending on the cravings. I cant do 6 yet.

my wife coughs every time, it took a while for her to get the method right. slow and steady drags do it for me.

As far as vendors go, im biased for HALO. they make great stuff that is awesome right out of the mail box.

Hmmm... Have you tried just 100% VG?
Are the coils on your topper clean?
Drinking Plenty of water while vaping?

We're really not sure of your vaping experience level... obviously more experienced than I realized.

I went from 18 which was too throaty, to 12 to now 6/0s. It's a process IMO

Well said! That is a common theme amongst the "seasoned" vapers... High nic to get thru the adjustment period without cigarettes, drop to a more comfortable level a few months down the road. Getting new equipment that is more efficient at delivering nicotine, cut the percentage in half... always adjusting.
