I am so frustrated I seriously feel like tossing this thing out of the window.... But since I live on the ground floor, it wouldn't make a difference anyways.
Just got my eGo-T 2 days ago... In between the kit and 3 bottles of juice from this store, there goes $87. Vape for a day, all is "fine", except that there is only vapor if I vape it pointing the battery towards the floor - that's right. If I do it in a regular angle, nothing. Nada. No vapor.
/Rinse the second atomizer so I can switch back and forth - I heard they last longer that way (rinsed only once to take off the primer taste). DEAD.
Back to the first atomizer - time to refill the tank... no more vapor. Change the tank. No vapor. Atomizer is warm, and makes the gurgling sound. No vapor. Change the tank. No Vapor. Vape tip up, tip down, fast, slow, medium. No vapor.
What GIVES?
I am so frustrated right now, I can smoke a pack of cigarettes.
I got this thing because I thought it worked. I mean, REALLY?
So, tomorrow I will find a darn store to buy an atomizer and cartomizers. Really? 2 days?
Well at least you have something to try on, i dont even have mine yet and most likely will never have.
I see quite a few people purchasing ego-T's, and a few people worried about their purchases, so I'll give you my impressions from being brand new to vaping and using one for the past 11 days.
I am careful to align the clear 1ml carts when inserting, and use the spike to pierce after having filled the cart by popping off the top and filling normally. Right from the first use I've been getting virtually no vape... as in, I can just about see some vape right in front of my nose/mouth when exhaling. Maybe 1/10th or less of a cigarette. That's my only slight disappointment. I know its working right, in terms of giving me my nicotine because I've not smoked for 11.5 days at this point, and usually I get a psychosomatic coughing fit after not smoking for about 3-4 hours. I've not had a single coughing fit. I was looking for a subtle system, eg. not much vape but still expected a lot more than I'm getting, thanks to some example youTube videos. I'm smoking in my office and avoiding the 105 degree California heat. Awesome.
EDIT: Woah. Finished today's cart and changed to the second atomizer that came in my kit. Night and day! Vaping 15-20x more now. Clearly the first atomizer I got was defective from the first drag (despite me babying it). This is much better and more in line with the videos I've watched. I suppose that is why they give you two... looks like a higher than desirable fail rate with these atty's. I'd better stock up.
Ease of use, longevity, consistency, have all been top-notch. I've had zero leakage, and zero e-liquid in my mouth. After finishing a 1ml cart I also shove in a slither of paper towel to clear up any residue but have not cleaned my attys yet. I'll do that when I have to, since many have had them fail.
In terms of longevity... I was a pack-a-day smoker. A battery (900mAh) lasts me 24 hours. Each 1ml cart lasts me 24 hours, and I vape every few minutes during the day, so I'm kinda shocked how much liquid some people have gone through. I also had a 3 hour stint where I left it at home, and had no craving. I've seen one of the e-liquids I got last about 1/2 to 3/4's of the time others have, so there's some inconsistency in terms of the liquid... not the eGo-T thankfully. USA Mix Menthol (24mg) has been my fav' to date, I smoked it for 8 days straight. (I purposely chose liquids with higher nicotine content than my smokes, to improve my initial vaping experience and give me a better chance of leaving analogs behind for good.)
So... the eGo-T has ended my analog smoking with zero cravings, is approximately 1/10th or less of the ongoing smoking costs for me (costing me about $0.50 in liquid per day, saving approx $150 a month), and I started truly feeling better after less than 12 hours (more energy, easier breathing).
So those (new to vaping) who are worried about their purchase, don't be. It has been awesome for me, one of the best 5 purchases I've ever made, and while there may be better options for me, and others... this is working just fine (albeit near vapeless) 'til I start to experiment. The kit I bought and all the liquids (about 70ml worth) will pay for itself after about 20 days.

Yes, despite my few issues, I love the convenience of my eG0-T. A type B tank and 1000 mAh battery is good for the day -- I don't need to carry a whole "vaping kit" around.
I have had some leaking issues, but I vape pure PG, which is a bit thin.
I didn't see any leaks with an 85/15 PG/VG mix, but I hated the taste of the unflavored mix.
I've also tried the recommendation, on this forum, of backing off the battery to let air get in between the battery and atty -- I had been screwing it down tight.
I've only been using it for a little over a week, so I'm still getting the hang of it.
I'm still trying to get it to not leak with pure PG, as I've been happy vaping unflavored PG nic.
But I like it enough that I ordered a second two unit kit. (To get spare batteries, attys, and tanks, with another charger tossed in as well.)
And I still have analogs in the pack I opened just before the eGo-T arrived.
Which is kinda the point.
(That, and I won't have to go to the loading dock in 110F heat index today.
)On the pre-puncture question, the hole in the tank seems to be pretty much pre-shaped. Whether you use the atty, a paperclip, or a small nail (as I use), it seems to punch the same hole in the base plate.
I used the atty to punch one tank, and a nail on the others, and I can't tell the difference in the holes. I did have to raise the wick in the atty, but that's more related to using PG.
I've used the tanks both with the hanging chad, and with it removed, and it doesn't seem to make a lot of difference. I remove the chads to be neat.
The atty spike plate really will move around. You can remove it for cleaning and to adjust the wick. So I don't think you can really "match" a tank to an atty.

Today I was having a super stressful day at work, had just gotten my new BWB juice in the mail and.... nothing! Both attys failed on me! AAAAHHHH! SO frustrating! I tried to smoke a couple of cigarettes.... yuck! Gross!
Tomorrow I get my cartos from Bill - They are supposed to be great and hold 2.5ml. They are also supposed to last a loooong time - his sister has been using one for over 5 weeks - she just refills it overnight before she goes to bed... DREAM!
But, what would get me through the night?

I went to a store here in Dallas and bought a very very temporary setup to hold me through tomorrow. A tinny atomizer and an even tinier cartridge. My goodness, I have to refill this thing every ten drags or so.... but HELLO vapor! Woohoo! Finally!
I should be getting my new attys from Cignot.com tomorrow or the day after too - I might give this system a change again - we will see.
For now I am just glad no cigarettes!

Awwwww... feeling sooo much better now! Got my proper nicotine fix with this temporary setup and the new juice is delicious - Backwoods Brew Applewood.

I hope it was just a fluke and the new tanks will be much better. Who knows? I ordered one LR and one regular from Cignot. If they work well it will be great. I do think the tank gives a little bit more pure taste than the cartridge, but it might be just my impression.
All I know is that only 6 days after changing from smoking to vaping, I can't stand cigarettes - it drove me nuts today. I do have cigarettes and tried to smoke it, but the taste was just SO bad I couldn't stand! My God, how could I smoke those things for 19 years and not know how nasty they were?

All I did was to open one, fill, put in into a ziplock bag, turn it really fast, fill more, turn it again, fill more.... It took a LOT of juice! NO Primer taste AT ALL - clean clean clean taste.... LOTS and LOTS of vape..... SOOOOOOOOOO exciting! Immediate vape Bliss!!!!!!!!!!
Best of all - $12.50 for 5 of these wonderful guys! And supposedly they last weeks and weeks!!!! Ok - I am Definitely Over the tank!!! YEAH! I found my vapor heaven!!!

Well, am hearing the good and the bad about the Ego-T. I am hoping mine comes in tomorrow (shipped monday from Cali on its way to NC) so I can give it a try. Will be able to try the tank and the dual coil carto's I ordered. Will be sure to post my impressions once I give it a try.

I feel your pain. I just recently gave up on the eGo-T after realizing the cost of the attys + maintenance wasn't worth it compared to the low cost of cartomizers. Glad things worked out for you.
I'm hoping that someday the quality on the eGo-T attys will improve or at least the price will drop to the point where I don't feel bad when they fail after a week.
It seems to be hit or miss with these ego tanks . I wan't a fan of tanks until I got my provari . At 4.2 volts for me it isn't bad . I use a type B that I almost was going to retire . I had two LR type A tanks first one lasted 13 days the second one 3 hours so for a while I was anti tank . I guess I might be back on the band wagon but the QC better get better soon .
Yet to have any major dramas with my ego-t. I much prefer carts tho and couldnt be bothered dripping yet. 50/50 pg/vg mixes I have to prime the .... out of the tank/atty every few puffs to keep it from burning! This reminds me, I better go clean all the empty tanks and attys as I havnt used them in a month and the juice residue in them looks strange now. yuck!
