New to vaping. Need help with blucig

Hello everyone. I am a new vapor. Been using an e-cigarette for the past 13 days. I've been using the Blucig premium starter kit. So far it has been working for me. I plan to upgrade to something better in the future, but for right now, it is working for me. But I do have one problem.

I know this is probably not the best forum to ask this question in, but because I'm a new member, I can't post anywhere else, so bear with me. My blucig works great with the blu cartomizers that I bought directly from their website. I've been watching a lot of youtube videos about how to refill the blu cartomizers with a different e-liquid. I decided to try it for the sake of curiosity, and to save some money down the road.

So I bought some 5ml sample bottles from Johnson Creek. The two juices I bought are both of their red oak line. The flavors are Rainier, and Island. So I took some old empty cartomizers and did a double boil to clean them out, and allowed them to dry for 2 days. I refilled the carts with 7-9 drops of the new liquid and then let them sit on the table for about 4 hours.

I just went to try them out, and I'm not getting results. With the rainier, I get a little flavor, but absolutely no vapor. I can hear the atomizer turning on, and my battery is fully charged, but still no vapor. With the island flavor, I have a lot of flavor, but barely any vapor. I actually had to stand directly under a light to see what little vapor it did produce.

So my question is, what am I doing wrong? I know different fluids come in different viscosity's, but it has become apparent that I don't know what I'm doing. Is the blucig simply too weak to handle these types of fluids? Any help is greatly appreciated

It sounds like there isn't enough juice to properly wet the coil. I don't know the size of a blu cartomizer, but a standard cartomizer will hold about 20 drops of liquid. Try adding more liquid, slowly until you see it drip out the bottom of the cartomizer. Then blow it out and clean the threads.

Also, boiling doesn't always work well. And you may get some hissing or dry hits for the first few drags until the remaining water in the filler gets vaped out.

Blu batteries are 510 threaded, so if you can't get it to work you could always buy some blanks.

In my opinion it sounds like the cartos are still a little wet. Whenever my atties or cartos are a lil wet from cleaning the vapor sucks until it dries out a lil more. This could be the problem. I think that the blu does underperform a little but you should be getting noticable vapor no matter what juice your using. My suggestion would be to get some new blank cartos and try it, or stuff some papertowel in the mouth end of your freshly cleaned carto overnight to help pull the water out. I have fixed the no vapor issue with continued use, but it takes a little while of crummy vapor to dry things out. Also, 7-8 drops might not be enough liquid. Most regular size cartos will hold 20 drops or so. You Tube has some cool videos, check out the condom method for filling cartos, it works nicely! Hope this helps and keep on vaping!

I never cleaned mine out when I refilled them, and they worked fine. Once I scorched them I could never get that nasty out, but if I refilled them before they were completely dry I was fine.

I 2nd the condom method, and that you have not filled them enough. You are already way ahead of the curve if you are refilling your own!

ETA: Blu uses 100% VG, which is what produces the vapor. Not sure if JC uses PG in their mix, but if so you may not have as much vapor (PG is what carries flavor so is commonly used as well). I am sure you have found that you cannot buy the flavors they make for Blu but if you want to get the best results from them make sure you have a high VG ratio.

If the island one is the fruity one that taste like fruit loops it gives almost no vapor at all. That using a boge 2.0 with a ego twist at 3.7 volts. I mean no vapor. None. I got it in the red oak sample and hit it like twice and haven't touched it since. Not sure about the ranier but before you worry about it you may want to try a different juice. Tennessee cured is awesome IMO but I know taste differ. Also as someone else said I don't know how much they hold but 7 drops doesn't seem like enough.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I took your advice and added more fluid to the cartomizers. Altogether I probably have 20-25 drops in each. I kind of lost count. I basically filled them until it started to drip out the bottom, and then added another 2 or 3 drops. I didn't let the carts sit after doing this. I just cleaned the threads/connection, and went straight to it. It took a lot of priming. I probably sucked down half the battery trying to get it going. But eventually both fluids started to produce vapor that is comparable to the original blu carts. Do you guys use your freshly filled carts immediately, or is it better to let them sit for a day or two?

It's also very possible that my carts weren't completely dry. I thought 32 hours or so would be enough, and the filler looked to be dry, but who knows. I have two more freshly cleaned carts that I haven't filled yet. I'll probably let those sit around for another few days before I fill them to see if it makes a difference. If anybody has any experience refilling blu carts, I'd love to hear from you!

Specifically I'd like to know if there is any one certain fluid that works especially well with this e-cig. The reason I bought the two sample bottles from johnson creek is because they were advertised as producing heavy vapor. But from what I can tell so far, it's the same vapor I get out of the factory filled blu carts. If there is a difference, I can't notice it.

Big mistake. If you are still able to return the kit, you can definitely get other starter kits for a cheaper price depending on what style of PV you want.

I know what you mean about all the bad press with the blu's. But from what I've seen most of the bad reviews deal with the 3 piece design. The newer blu premium kit has no separate atomizer. It's a two piece kit, and it works much better. I'm pretty happy with it for what it is. I do plan to buy something better in the near future for use at home. But I really can't see myself carrying around something big and bulky when I'm at work or out and about. The cigarette size and shape of the blu is what lured me to it. I already have to do enough explaining to people when I'm using the blu in public. If I were using something larger, or a tank system in public, I don't think I'd be very comfortable with it, even though I'm sure those systems work better. So even when I do upgrade, I think I'll keep the blu for when I'm out of the house. That is unless there is something comparable in size to the blu that would just blow my mind. Get what I'm saying?

I also started out with the smaller cigarette sized batteries for the size to fit in my pocket to go to work, I work construction. That was my fear in not having something too big to carry around and break. The ego twist 900 mAh is good to go in the pocket as well as the ego T mod that has a 2,000 mAh battery, those are now my work batteries and are still able to fit in my pocket and don't break.

On the other note, once you fill your carts, after cleaning away excess juice and the threads you are good to go. The timeline I find that they need to be refilled is after half a day of moderate vaping. Always better to be cautious and refill sooner than waiting for them to dry out. If they dry out then you will burn the filler and the cart is done for good.

I'm sorry. You misunderstood my question. Probably my fault. I was asking if you guys use your freshly filled carts right away immediately after filling, or do you let them sit on a table for x amount of time before using? Is there any benefit to letting them sit awhile?

I usually let mine sit for about 15 minutes, but I'm not sure if it is necessary. You do need to make sure you blow them out so juice doesn't leak down the center hole and potentially ruin your battery.

You're probably not seeing any more vapor from those liquids because Johnson Creek makes the liquid for Blu, and both the Blu line and the Red Oak line are 100% VG so you're already getting as much vapor as your battery can produce.

I use them right away so long as I know they are fully filled. The condom fill method is the best in making sure the carto is fully saturated with no dry spots. No need to wait after filling.
