New to Vaping

Hi all veterans,

I'm very new to vaping and hoping to replace analogs eventually.

I've got a eGo one for a starter recently, using it with a Kanger tech ProTank II. Not sure if that's the recommended setup?

I've read up a fair bit on RBA and rda but I guess that would be too advanced for me to explore lest there are kind souls to provide more guidance.

There's also quite a few mods available to purchase. I was looking at eleaf - iStick 50w, iPV4 and iPV3 Li Mod by P4U.

Any recommendations on the appropriate sets to look into?

I would hold off on the rba/rda thing until you have a chance to do some reading up on battery safety... ego ONE is a very decent starting point - my wife has one with a kanger subtank mini that works great

when you ask about appropriate sets, what are you looking for - more flavor, more vapor? how much are you currently smoking analog wise? what kind of nic strength liquid are you using

I didn't get any mod too. Just got the Kanger as it has a tank as opposed the the normal carto.. For ease of not re-filling often

Currently, I am doing 20 analogs per day but the liquid I've managed to grab hold is at 12mg if I am correct..

I did up some read up on the battery.. ohms vs ampere and etc.. Still trying to understand..

What about the mod sets that are already available of the shelves?

eLeaf is getting ready to release an iStick 40watt I believe with TC and Joyetec's Evic VT (60watts) which look to be great starters there, internal batteries, the Evic VT also comes in an Express Kit (just the mod) and a full kit (with an Ego One Mega tank) which is really appealing for the price point for a 5000mah internal battery, but both mods you can slap any tank on it with an Ni200 TC coil head, Kanger Subtanks, Atlantis Tank and such. Most other TC mods coming out will need external batteries, and with those batteries an external charger to charge them which raises the final cost. So you do have entry level options out there.

That Ego One should be able to handle pretty decent attachments with a wide array of options. Any of the Kanger Subtanks (Nano, Mini, Plus), most likely a Subtank Mini should match up really really well diameter wise, if not the Nano will line up perfectly, and should handle the 0.5ohm stock coil heads really well. With your analog usage, here would be my suggestions, Nicotine level wise, 1.5 to 2.2ohms look at 18mg (1.8%) nicotine (the Protank 2), for cloud tanks like the Subtanks 1.0 to 1.5 ohm 12mg (1.2%), 0.5 to 1.0ohm 6mg (0.6%), 0.2 to 0.5ohm 3mg (0.3%) but I wouldn't push it below 0.5ohm coils for the time being until you decide to upgrade your hardware (battery/mod system). The Protank2 is still a nice tank even as antiquated as it is, even with all my gear past week I've been running my own Protank2 on my old SVD 1.0 at 10watts, get an Aerotank base for it and she runs like a beauty as good as my Nautilus tanks.

As far as wrapping your head around Ohm's Law and battery safety and such, there is always time to learn at your own pace, don't try cramming for the next finals test with all the information that is involved at higher levels of vaping, for now, let us focus on getting you started and fully off the coffin nails

Putting a Protank 2 on an eGo ONE is a kind of curious set-up. It will work, but 'recommended', probably not.
The good news though is you are unlikely to burn out the coils, as the battery won't power the tank too high. The performance will be something like a standard eGo battery kit.
The Protank 2 will suffer on a power mod though, so be ready to upgrade your tank if you seek out a 30, 50, 100 watt device. It would be a shame to run a beautiful new mod at 8 or 9 watts to avoid dry hits and nasty Kanger grim vape!
If I had an eGo ONE (I might still get one) I'd buy just the battery (no Joyetech tanks for me, thank you, no way Jose) and put a 1.2ohm Subtank Nano on instead.

The eLeaf 40w will be authentic when talking below the $50USD mark, believe the HCigar HB40 or VT40 is another low cost 40watt authentic, most other 40w Temp mods out there not in the under $100USD mark are clones of the DNA40watt mods (example Vaporshark rDNA40 authentic would be around 130USD, clone about 80USD)

The iJust2 is not a temperature control mod, if that's what you are referring to (as far as I know).

Yes, the iStick40w is rated for both, link posting isn't allowed with less than 5 posts, had to pull the link out of @djsvapor's quoting you, and that page it looks like an authentic, that with a Subtank Mini, 4 or 5pack of TC subtank coil heads, be right around 70ish USD after shipping and such, and you would be well on your way

My issue revolves around all the available option and not knowing what to get and what are 'compatible or recommended'? It seems that not all retailers are as honest as they would be at my side of the world

Best advice for right now, write down a list of what your budget expense wise for initial investment will or could be, then write down a list of equipment you find interesting to purchase. After that, hit Youtube and watch some reviews of those products, and trust me there are a bunch of reviewers out there, and many that have good beginner info to boot.

Apologies but I am trying to also digest this information but didn't really managed to..

1. Watt is the measurement of power flow of the system I assume? This is closely related to the capability of the battery / mod system?
2. ohm in this case refers to the resistance of the coil I assume? How does the resistance correlates to the nicotine percentage?

Budget wise is lesser of a concern as compared to availability as vaping is a thing to be frown upon by both public and the authorities from where I am

1) That is where Ohm's Law applies which has 4 variables, Volts = volume of water supplied at the valve, Ohms = restriction or resistance that builds pressure, Amps = flow of current, Watts = final pressure using water and a hose with a pressure sprayer attached, change any of the 4 the other 3 will change as well. The 2 biggest safety wise is Resistance first which affects the Amp Current the most when talking battery safety, go over a batteries Continuous Discharge Rating (CDR), battery gets overly hot, electrolytes boil and build pressure, battery can either catastrophically explode or eject a hot jet of gases and electrolytes which is bad.

The lower the Resistance boils down to the last generation of high power vaping before the advent of these newer high powered regulated mods like the Sigelei 150watt and clouding tanks like the Subtank came into being. On a mechanical mod with a fresh battery at 4.2v the only throttle was in the resistance of the coil, lower resistance, higher the watts get and amp draw on the battery, and to keep the coils cool, this required higher airflow. Basic boiling down, hotter the coil, more airflow was needed and side effect more liquid being vaporized at once, more nicotine being consumed.

Example 4.2volts at 1.8ohms = 9.8watts power at 2.33 amps (1:1 liquid consumption) 18mg
4.2volts at 1.0ohms = 17.64 watts at 4.2amps (2:1 liquid consumption) 9mg (18mg equivalent)
4.2volts at 0.5ohms = 35.28 watts at 8.4amps (3:1 liquid consumption) 6mg (18mg equivalent)

In the End the final wattage, how hot it is getting at the coil and how fast and how much liquid is flash vaporized at once affects flavor and vapor production, 48 to about 52mg of nicotine exposure in a short say 5minute exposure can induce an overdose, even higher becomes toxic, 18mg per milliliter at 35 watts feels like 54mg at 8watts when talking throat hit in a rough mathmatical estimation.
