In various contexts, I have heard such specks identified as residual burnt (carbonized) juice, and the remnants of whatever couldn't vaporize, possibly including flavorings, colorings, oils, sweeteners, etc. And, that it's the same thing that accumulates on atty coils. (It's also more common in the Carlos juice Box mod, with its homemade atty.) Was not typically thought to be harmful in what I've read. I don't recall hearing of it specifically in regard to carto condom techniques, but given the foregoing anyway, it would seem within the range of 'normal.' Maybe here it was related to the particular juice type/composition, maybe to the construction of particular cartos since some variances are being mentioned...

Katya, did you catch the critter when he was still donning the black box? Not entirely sure what the new green thingy he's sporting is lol!

Hi Mia,

I thought about stuff like that but it just seems kind of weird. I never even had that with the reg. KR8's. There really was a fair amount of it the first time and I hadn't used it that much. I don't know. Another mystery I guess. What you mentioned has been noticed by others?

I haven't noticed, but, then again, I didn't look at the liquid. Will pay closer attention next refill.

Ben seems right on top of all of this and I know he wants to do right by us. He is definitely one of the "Good Guys" around here.

    Hey Katmar,

    How are you doing?

I know Ben is one of the good guys. I don't normally look at the juice either. Maybe because there was a fair amount of it and it just caught my eye. Or because the liquid is clear. I don't know.

I am doing ok, sky, and you?
I have to say I do LOVE the turbos. Flavor, vape and TH are all better for me.

Myself, the first time the topic registered with me was when it came up in regard to the Juice Box mod I mentioned. In those cases it was pointed out that the flecks are the same residual carbonized juice that routinely accumulates in atties, only isn't necessarily seen in the latter case since unlike the Juice Box, with atties there's no dedicated bottle through which juice recirculates and the flecks end up. (Hope that made sense!)

I believe I also have heard such flecks referred to in the batting of cartos (not Turbos or any other type specifically), but IIRC only in an incidental sense; wasn't the main point being made. But I have gathered or assumed it's more common with atties; and some of those remain in use for months. Still, my guess would be that it's the same thing, having been produced this time due to some combo of... something... maybe juice composition or some such (IIRC you like that 'exotic' brand too) including from any prior fills; or length of carto use; or voltage; or carto/wire position or flaw, etc. etc. Perhaps more opinions and insight on it could be gleaned from someplace like the Technical Issues subforum, if desired.

A fig leaf! I love the fig leaf! Much better than the box.

I have no idea what the specks are, but I agree with Miss MiA's hypothesis about the burnt/caramelized juice particles. Sugars, oils, coloring. Whatever else they add to the PG/VG base. I haven't seen specs in mine, but I've seen dark heavy stains around the coil. Must be the juice residue. What else can it be? Any ideas?

Gremlins??? Faries???? Some kind of X-Files conspiracy on the part of Big Tobacco ?

Frankly my dear....I don't give a darn anymore. Okay....maybe it's ignorance....self delusion....whatever. But I WANT TO BELIEVE that it's still better than analogs! And it's so much fun!! Not just the vaping...but this forum....all you people....analogs were never like this. (yes Scott....I hear you banging your head against the keyboard!)

btw....where is Scottbee...anyone know? I hope he is okay....

i let one of my turbos get to low and got a hint of the bad (uh oh its empty) taste and refilled it too far and got the black particles out the other end that you are talking about. but everything still tasted fine.. maybe slightly less flavor then a freshly filled one but if anything different it was pretty hard to tell. i gave that one to my friend anyway :) and switch to a fresh one.

I'm doing okay as well. Wish summer or at least a decent spring would get here.

I'm just going to put all this here as I am lazy at the moment.

Mia, thanks for offering the info.

lorikay, I just knew it was a conspiracy of some sort. Now to figure out by whom or what other worldly beings.

Seriously though, this isn't freaking me out like the reg KR8's did. I was actually very pleased to see that the outer filler wasn't burned/scorched (or whatever) at all. Just the wrapping around the atty and it wasn't anywhere close to the KR8s. Plus, I had even topped off. I was just curious as I had never noticed that before but as I said, it isn't freaking me out.

okay...I have it figured out....ask Scott...I'm sure he will agree.

Make yourself a hat out of tin foil....make sure the shiny side is pointed away from your brain. Now wrap your carto in tinfoil. Then run a wire from the hat to the carto...and bingo!!! It repels all the government mindrays and prevents the filling from burning!

I already tried that lorikay. It didn't work but maybe I did something wrong. It sounds like it worked for you. Maybe I didn't use the right sized wire.

If you do it just right you'll hear your head sizzle and pop.. but you might get a little gray matter in your mouth....

Scott, maybe you could comment on what types of waves these hats are capable of blocking? I don't know if mine is filtering ALL of them out.. I've had a slight sizzling in my head and a strange urge to spend too much time on ECF. Could I modify my hat to block these rays somehow?
