hey all..
I've been trying out the V4L Premiums and two have already burned up on me even while keeping them full.. they seem to burn up after about 60 drags or so. You really have to be careful not to let them burn up. I just filled up with about 30 drops of 0 nic juice to test it and at about my 60'th drag it was burnt.

Do you think the turbos are that much better? I keep reading that a cartomizer is supposed to be about the same as 1 pack of analogs. But it doesnt even seem close to that. 60 3 second puffs comes out to about 6 analogs roughly. I figure an analog is about 10 puffs. it is starting to look like vaping costs as much as analogs being that you have to buy a 5 pack of carts for 10 bucks + juice costs and they dont last long at all unless you are extremely careful not to let them burn. So far I havent been able to get any to last. ive burnt up 2 of my pack of 5 already and i was trying really hard not to let them get empty i kept flooding it with juice.

does 30 drops really only last that long? it was pretty dry when I took it apart after it burned up.. the 808 battery lasts about 100 drags and the completely full cartomizer was burnt up and dry when the battery was half done.

I ordered blanks so cannot speak about the flavors.

Black...love it. Don't laugh at me please...okay...go ahead...but I just buy those little foil stars you used to get in 1st grade and color code them. So I'm good with just the black ones.

The good:
These things are like the energizer bunny! And a Timex watch all rolled into one...they keep on going and going and going and you can abuse the heck out of em and they never seem to "burn up". (Disclaimer..the word burn is not to be taken literally if you are a thermochemist. Hi Scott!) I've got a couple going now that I've been using daily for almost 2 weeks.

They hold lots of juice if filled properly.

They can be washed, boiled, cleaned with alcohol etc.

The value is excellent! For as long as they last they are totally worth it.

The Bad

Glue....bad. Not only are the caps glued on but the filling is glued in. Some of them end up being duds because the glue clogs them up.

Flavor....this is the flip side of the no burn, lasts forever. They don't get hot enough to really release all the flavor. My juices tend to taste muted. But I'm good with that...it's worth it not to have to vape burnt tasting filling.

The worst....
They are out of stock!

(coupon please...):D

ps...In a word...YES...the Turbos are much better.

Hey I LIKE that idea! Bet it looks kinda cool too! It would also be good for differentiating colored cartos, since one may still have more flavors than colors to go around. You are a veritable cornucopia of handy dandy tips Ms. Lori! :D

these are a completely different animal than the premiums from that other company..
those premiums they achieved greater vapor production by simply dropping the resistance (standard cartos are 3Ω...their premiums are about 2.5Ω)...so they're getting hotter and burning out faster.... these manage to produce the same amount of vape while maintaining the same resistance (actually just a smidge higher (Ben says they meter in at a 3.1Ω average))...so yeah I'd say they are that much better

Sideburn, these are better, for the reasons mentioned above (and in the technical thread) but they are a very similar design and materials, so potential for toasting is there, especially when used outside of specs, which we're all doing here. They were designed to be one-shot disposables. The way I look at it, every time you refill and get another round out of them is your win. But you also increase the risk of things going wrong: they get clogged up by juice residues, both the filler and the metal parts, then the juice eventually caramelizes and starts to heat up and degrade the surroundings. They are not foolproof. Proceed with caution or they will burn too, eventually. Having said that, I received them on Thursday, filled them up with 32-34 drops of juice each, and they both lasted me all day. After 4 or 5 partial refills (16-20 drops to keep them nice and moist) they are retired, because I feel they need a bath.

My problem with the other premiums was that, oftentimes, I couldn't even get one good run out of them. They would pop and crackle and then, suddenly, almost without a warning, go from good to "horrid" in a matter of seconds. Turbos give you plenty of warning that they are getting tired: the draw becomes sluggish, vapor production and flavor go south; if you ignore these signs, you're asking for trouble.

Just be careful, look inside, keep them moist, don't overvape, have always a couple in rotation and you'll be fine.

thanks, this sounds good. yeah ive had my premiums for 3 days and burned 3 carots already. I am a light user too just a few puffs every now and then but I filled them up with over 30 drops and they only seem to last about 60 drags or so and they burn up.. i then took them apart and they were dry. im amazed that 30+ drops only last that many 3 - 4 second drags. i thought one full cartomizer was supposed to be about the same as a pack of regular smokes. Can't wait to try the turbos. in the meantime with my last 2 cartos i just keep adding drops to it after about 6 or 7 drags off it. and keep from chain puffing on it.

Best description and advice I've read, and all is accurate IMV.

These are better than the 808 (premium or no) and I've found with my lighter juice, you do need to be careful with them. I top off more often with the lighter stuff cause these things hit so well. Heavier flavored juice, where you can really feel the kick, is very nice with these and you get plenty of warning to top off.

Blanks hold tons of juice and I've not touched the 808's since receiving these. There good.

Katya, & miss MIA, thanks for the compliments. I do love livin out here in the sticks. ;) & I will do another vid soon minus the hat. Or at least minus the deep dark shadow across my face... I couldn't see the laptop screen for anything in the sunlight there, so I didn't realize how well hidden I was!

Hi lorikay,

Have you pulled yours apart to check for any burning? As I have said before, I had taken apart two of them. One burned rather badly and the other one not at all that I could see. Yesterday, I pulled apart the third one. When I first saw the filler I thought oh,oh, because the bottom part was really dark but it turned out to just be juice. So anyway, I unwrapped the filler and couldn't find any marks but when I got to the piece of material that is wrapped around the wires, it had burn holes. Bummed me out because I was getting excited that the filler wasn't showing any signs although it did smell kind of burnt.

I still think these are a huge improvement over the regular KR8's but what I am wondering is if they can be tweaked a little bit more to prevent any burning. I used it only once so I am guessing that had I used it more, the burning would have progressed to the filler. I of course don't know this for a fact but it seems logical. It was also still wet when I removed it.

I don't know how it could be tweaked but it seems so close to being great I am hoping Ben can figure it out.

I'd really prefer these *not* be tweaked, to be honest. They're so great as is, I'm hesitant to see them monkeyed with. What I'd like to see as far as cartomizer design is an engineer start from scratch to design a carto that doesn't burn, not random changes to good stuff we already have to see what happens.

Hi Belletrist,

No, "random" changes don't usually work out very well. I guess I meant pretty much what you said except I didn't know if they would need to start over or just take a careful look at what they have started and just change something a little. These are by far the best I have tried and seem so close that I was thinking maybe nothing major would need to be done to accomplish no burning at all. I guess because Ben has done such a great job so far, I can't help but think he could probably solve the problem in it's entirety.

to tell the truth I have not had to give up on one of these yet so I can not say with any accuracy rather they seem to have any heat damage. I am still using one that I dated 3/30. I have boiled it and switched flavors a couple times. I will certainly let you all know when I finally do take one apart. But I have been inspecting them with a flashlight and havn't seen anything yet that causes me concern. I was thinking of ordering a $7000 endoscope from this really cool sight in Japan but that might be just a little over the top, no ?:D

anyway....please check out the thread I started over at the KR8 subforum titled "How much would you pay...?"I'm trying to gather information on how much people are willing to pay for a cartomizer that really works and is built to last like a regular atty.

I will also be starting a thread about the juices I have found that work best with these cartomizers. The cooler operating temps are actually a perfect match for certain things like herbal glycerites as well as double flavored juices.

yet more proof that I have no life....I actually have time to follow Japanese trends on the Internet. They market a home use endoscope for checking the back of your teeth....as well as a nifty gadget called the "Etiquite Checker" that you breath into and it tells you if you have bad breath. :p

Here is an interesting post about e-cigs in Japan.......ladies...just look at that bling-bling!!!

I also found out something very interesting while researching the origins of different e-juices. It seems that many Chinese companies are actually IMPORTING the juice from Japan. Does that mean anything....not really...just interesting that's all. I have wondered though why we don't see Japanese products for sale. Anybody know? Some trade agreement thing??? It just seems strange considering the Japanese love and skill at making gadgets.

I had a feeling E-cigs would be HUGE in Japan! They're the gadget kings of the world and E-cigs would be right up their alley..

Invent in the USA.. The Japanese will make it better.. And then the Chinese will get a hold of it and make them for a dollar!

(though in our case, the Chinese invented and don't know if the Japanese have worked their magic on them yet).. Still can't buy e-cigs for a dollar though :(

Looks like something one might find in a "tobacco" shop in the glassware section...
