Toby - you can have special dispensation to post in here whatever the rules. Until Angus says otherwise that is...

Actually I don't know, but why not? There is probably no rule on this but it depends on what people do & what complaints we get. If suppliers are sensible then why not. If somebody starts going OTT with ads, and then several members complain, then we have to look at it. Hopefully that won't happen.

Don't forget there is a specific UK Suppliers Forum and that's quiet enough that everyone will get a fair shot in there. Suppliers who want to promote stuff could just link to their ads over there. Basically I just have to do whatever Christena.Petbe says otherwise I get serious grief of the lughole, if you're sensible you'll keep her sweet :)

What's the difference between British National Forum & the Dutch International Forum then?

The language, I would think..

The Dutch can write in their own language, instead of English all the time, which is very fair I think...

Plus they do have Dutch speaking moderators.

The thing is, it's all very new, so version #1 is likely to get changed in some way.

What happened is that we wanted to start new boards in other languages, so the International boards were formed. Then, it looked a good idea to move the national social groups up to being full forums, and as they were already called 'National forums', we just kept that name.

So, now it looks a little strange, with some National and some International forums (or it will do soon when there are several of them). The International category could well be renamed International Language Forums - which might make it clearer. Or, we could just combine the lot in one board, though I don't like the idea of that as it is not logical, the 'International' ones are all going to be languages other than English, the 'National' ones are all English-speaking.

Basically it just needs a logical re-name, I guess. We just have to decide what. Place your suggestions here please:

OK I see the reason then.

btw tried replying to your PM but looks like you've blocked all PMs ?
(would've been handy to know before I types it all in )

...anyway, reckon you're doing pretty well with the multi-lingual stuff.

That (edited out) flag set was just an example, not really comprehensive as you say,
probably too many cross-overs & commonalities in a bigger version to be practical.

Yup.

Sorry I had to block PMs but I was getting dozens a day that were basically messages for the Forum Manager or Suppliers Officer, or just basically chats that could have gone in the forum. It forces people to look at the Contacts page, which is linked to at top and bottom of every page on ECF, and where the proper contact for their enquiry is set out.

You'll find my email there by the way :)
