I'd made my mind up to get an e-cig with the next paycheck I had coming. I should've done research first, but obviously I had no idea whatsoever about all the different models out there. I went for convenience, before I changed my mind (& bought a pack of analogs)...went to the local head shop & got a NicStick starter, which I've found is a 510-T system.

I ***LOVE*** it when all is working well, but the batteries don't stay charged long, and sometimes I get leakage into my mouth. By now, though, I've bought another battery, a few accessories, and a bunch of tanks; I don't really want to change systems all together, as one of the two main reasons for switching to e-cig was to save money. Looking for suggestions regarding batteries, tank leakage (just occasional), parts compatibility/mods, atomizer cleaning, etc. I could probably spend hours right now just reading on here to find what I need!

I'm excited to have a place to get suggestions & info from other vapers!!!!

Hi jenn3s5tars and welcome to ECF. Congrats on your life changing decision. It all depends on how you wish to spend and the size of the PV. The Volt is the best cig sized PV around with a very loyal following and prolly thye best customer service in the industry There's a 15% discount coupon and after receiving your Volt post your pic and receive:
a free batt or free cartomizers or free juice.
Next is the Kgo- a true 3.7 Volt PV in either 650 or 1100 mah- 100 mah= 1 hr normal vaping before recharge. The size of a sharpie pen. Good starter kit costs about $50.00
Next is the variable volt Twist in 650 or 1000 mah. Can turn the voltage up or down according to your needs. Starter kit about $60.00
Happy Vaping.

I am still pretty new too. I had to call it a hobby so I didn't feel bad about spending money on everything. I didn't, and haven't saved any money so far. I however, tried to dismiss the waste of money a carton of cigarettes cost. I have several large mods, and still use my ego batteries more. I watched a bunch of youtube videos, and that really helped to find out what I wanted to try. My taste has changed so much since I started vaping. I have several tobacco flavors that I won't ever touch again. I have went to light and fruity flavors.

Thanks for the quick welcome! Right now, biggest issue I want to resolve is battery usage. Mine seem to die awfully quickly, but I don't know what's normal, either.

Thinking of a pass through & a mega battery for my next accessory purchases.

Changing to a new system will likely have to wait until bday or Xmas, but depends on how much I figure I might spend in accessories between now & then. If it's going to be as much as a new system starter kit...well, then...might as well take the dive now.

@ Motoman: Great suggestion, but I don't have much time to sit through YouTube videos, unfortunately. In trying to find info, I've seen there are quite a few.

@ Evie: I was a menthol smoker, so that kept me plenty happy for the first 2-3 weeks. After that, I got bored, so I got some flavors, and wow...if I wasn't hooked just using menthol (I was. I vaped continuously that first day), I certainly am now! It's so much fun to have the flavors!!!

I am still spending a little less even buying little accessories. I spent about $50 on the starter kit, so that was the biggest chunk, but $20-$25 every other week on juices & accessories amounts to less than the $20-$30 per WEEK on cigarettes!!! Once I get my system settled, it'll be a huge money saver!!!

@ingerri: Thanks!!! SO---Ego battery will last longer & still fit? How long are we talkin'? :) How long SHOULD a battery last? What about a Joye 510-T mega battery? Suggestions re: automatic or manual?

How long a battery will last depends on how big it is, its size is measured in "mah" or Milliamp Hours. The more mah the longer it lasts between charges.

Many cig sized batteries range between 180-240mah. Which gives me AT MOST 3 hours of use (depending on how much you use it).

Also how big of a battery you get depends on how big of an item you want to carry around, what I do is have a BIG battery for when I am home, and 2 smaller batteries charged up and ready to go for when I leave the house.

Here is a link to a 900mah ego battery...
eGo 900mAh Battery - Black

There are MANY vendors that carry them in different sizes. 900 mah should last all day.

Take a look at some of the other threads here as there are many with the same questions.

i started with the 510 regular size and it was only lasting about an hour. i got 2 ego 900mah (prefer manuals)and one lasts me all day at home chainvaping. and yes it will fit your 510 parts you already have. i dont see spending an arm and a leg on something when i can use this and just charge it once a day.(i do use my 510 mini when out and about as i have a pcc for that:)

once you get your 5posts in, get verified and you can go on classifieds. i saw some ego batteries on there, may save you some money :)

Hi Jenn4Stars...Can't say "welcome" or anything as I am a "Newbie"...lol Seems you have some experience in this stuff?...(Here's my story)(hard hit after hit camel smoker) I got the VOLT from Smokeless Image. A guy here told me I'd be dissappointed and to go straight for a KGO or new EGO TWIST. Not that he was wrong. The Volt is awsome!...for a first hit, then one has to wait a little (for the juice to seep back down the filler to the atty again)...for the next strong hit. Too much wait for me! (30 secs?) Just so you think about cartomizers and go straight for another delivery system (if you're like me) I am looking into the CE3s (kinda cartrige and a tank thing) and I hope they will give a more consistant flow down there to the coil / atomizer so to speak. VOLT & X-2 Batts (this is from the "Smokeless Image" company...Check em out!) are all the same 3.8 v "REGULATED" (3.6 under vape load) batteries. VOLT is the (little guy) (the X2s are bigger / mAh capacity / last longer) and they are "Regulated" batteries so they keep a consistant volt pressure going. KGOs (some people like the high 4.2volts are higher volts for starters, but deminish as you vape. EGOs are "Regulated" and stay 3.6 v consistantly. All cut off around 3.2 v BTW
VOLT & X2- 3.6 Regulated
KGO - 4.2 but diminish
EGO - 3.6 Regulated
Ego TWIST - Variable Voltage "V.V." 3.2 - up to- amost 5 volts (your covered!...and they're regulated!)
PS,....I could be wrong on some things (like I think the EGO are a little lower v), but this is what I have learned:
Go with the good stuff (probably V.V.)(If you don't mind the size) and I don't like the "cotton filled" cartomizers,....They just don't it for me...........Sorry to get long winded / complicated,...However: Here's to our new smokless health!
