Hello ECF members, I am currently a 23 yr old student that has been smoking since 14. I am starting to become adversely affected by my bad habit and have the desire to quit but cannot for this habit has become soo ingrained in my life. I have been researching e-cigs for a while and found this site to be the least scammish.

I have a pretty deep habit with Malboro Lights (or Special Blend Lights); I am looking for an e-cig that has similar or better taste and feel on the throat. I prefer my drags to be short but strong; I cannot stand smokes with the filters too perforated for I feel like I am smoking air.

The challenge here is that I feel that I am a most spoiled smoker; having only quit for 3 months once in my life by force. I was before hopeless but I am deciding to invest some hope into vaping technology.

I have heard Bogue brands have a satisfying vapor density; I was wondering if the veteran users could provide me with some reccomendations for hardware and flavors that would match my preferences. Thank you for your time :D

I am sure you will get some suggestions on your particular questions. I just would
like to say, it would be very beneficial for you to spend some time here on ECF and
read alot of prior posts and questions and answers others have asked and given.
This will not be as easy as walking into the 7Eleven and buying your favorite pack
of cigs. It WILL TAKE SOME TIME for you and you alone to try different flavors of juice
that will staisfy your particular taste buds. Although many can suggest, they are only
suggesting what has worked for them. You may be entirely different.
I know you want to make a perfect choice the first time out, but it just may not happen
that way. Get you a good starter unit, order small bottles of juices from a couple different
vendors and find out what works and what does not, readjust your orders, read, read and
read here...and learn and keep on trying and adjusting along the way.
It is soooo worth the effort and I am a firm believer that if at first you don't succeed,
try, try again.
You should get other replys and suggestions, and I wish you the best of luck on your journey.

As a new e-cigger myself, let me share one of the threads that really helped me to decide on what I needed out of a PV. Check out "Best E-Cigarette for a New User." I found this super, super helpful and easy to understand. It goes over a few of the most popular options and the pros and cons of each. Personally I went with a KR808 model, but something else might work better for you.

Make sure you check out the stickies too! There's a ton off good info already floating around here if you just look for a bit.

Hi Kulture! Welcome :) This place is awesome. I'm still new so I can't offer any advice but I came here the night I was going to buy my first e-Cig and these wonderful ppl helped me get started. If it wasn't for them, I'd most likely still be smoking. Haven't touched an analog since my eGo arrived on Wednesday! Good luck to you, I know you will do great!

When I quit smoking and switched to vaping I was smoking 2 packs a day. I cut back to 1 pack a day and started vaping 30mg fruit flavoured juice for about 3 weeks and dropped back to half a pack for 3 weeks and 2 cigeretts a day for a week and then I was finished with cigeretts. I can no longer stand the smell of cigeretts so I don't think I could vape something that tasted like one. 6 months later I'm down to 10 mg juice. The thing you will find is that what works one person dosn't work for everyone else. Just try different products until you find what works for you it took me about 2 months to find my sweet spot.

Hey Kulture, hello and welcome to ECF.
My intro into e-cigs wasn't exactly silky smooth but I hung with it and I am glad I did. At first I kept buying things that just weren't working for me. I spent a lot of money on kits that just didn't perform well enough to ween me off the cigs. At that time I didn't know anything about ECF and I didn't do a lot of research before I bought my first kits. After I found ECF I started reading everything I could and got a lot of help from the friendly people here. Now I am 4 1/2 months without a cigarette. I never would have thought that possible a year ago. If you have any questions along the way, I know the good people here are happy to help.

If you're on a budget and you don't care about the ecig looking like a regular cig, I'd get the Riva deluxe carto kit from Liberty Flights for $34.99

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510

Taste is really subjective as far as juice goes. I don't vape tobacco flavors but my sister does and vapes Vapor Station Tampa (she smoked Marlboro), my neighbor vapes Backwood Brew Backo (She smoked marlboro light) and my Mom smoked generic cigs and vapes Backwood Brew Casablanca.

I'd get 12 and 24 mg nic. Add too the 12 if it's not strong enough, or cut the 24 if it's too strong, or mix them together for 18. You won't know until you try it the right strength for you. Vapor Station and BWB both have small sizes. VS has a sampler pack. But there are tons of good vendors out there. None are going to taste like a Marlboro though.

If you want a pv that looks like a cig (mini) try V4L, Volt, Halo. Batteries last about 1 hour of continous vaping per 100 mah. So if your out all day you may need extra batteries or a pcc.

Good luck!

You must also admit that smoking cigarettes is an expensive habit. In that case, you can easily justify the cost of buying e-cig kits that suit your taste. But don't be like many people who spent money on initial kits and later discarded them. Make a research first and get the best bang for the buck. If I had to start all over I wouldn't have spent so much money on my first kits. But then, it's still cheap considering the money I've spent on real cigarettes. It's a win win situation if you do your research first.

Hello Kulture!

I smoked for longer and way more than you. Just believe me!
I finally quit smoking using just will-power (for six months). One day when a good friend passed away, I started smoking again and continued for two more years until I decided to try E-cigs.

Let me be clear on this: When I stopped smoking for six months, I did not have withdrawals of any kind.
I believe smoking is just a habit, not an addiction to nicotine. I believe that it is a scam to say that nicotine is addictive so that you will spend lots of money (that you used to spend on cigarettes) on pharmaceutical products.

I smoked Marlboro lights too! Now, I really like the flavored vapors. I'm smoking 6mg Mocha & Chocolate right now, and it certainly tastes much better than any cigarette!!!!
Anyway, I had two packs of cigarettes when I got my first E-cigarette. Those two packs lasted for three days (instead of one day) and by the third day and last few cigarettes, I was noticing how really bad those cigarettes tasted!

Get yourself a good E-cigarette after doing some research on the different types, because no one can tell you what is best for you, except to say that it is best for you to research (consider refillable cartomizers) and make an educated choice on your E-cigarette.

As for the flavors, buy lots of small (5 to 7 ml) bottles to try until you find out which flavors you really like.
Good Luck!!!!

I have faith that you can totally do it. You sound like the same exact boat I was in. Two days after getting my eGo kit, I quit 100% no more smokes. Funny thing is, and this happens to many is how I don't even care for tobacco flavored liquids. I prefer fruits, candy, gum, cookies, chocolate, ect (clause: a good chocolate is difficult to find but if you are a chocoholic worth it)

I just recently turned 23, but quit about 2 months ago myself. Had my first cigg at 11, I was a pack and a half a day smoker for at least the last 5/6 years and started normally smoking at 14 too. I smoked menthol, went to regulars a couple months before getting my e-cigg.

It's all about you. Choose your mindset before you buy that first e-cigg. If "quitting" makes you anxious then tell yourself you are not quitting but changing your habit to a healthier one. Buy at least 3-4 different small(3-6ml) juices. If you smoked more then a pack a day, starting at 24 mg is the way to go. It sounds like you want to stop smoking and that's the main factor to make it work.Keep that fire going and you'll go far. Before buying mine, I saw so many stories of people quitting the first day they got their e-cigg. I wanted that story for myself so bad I made it happen...well close. The pinned articles offer a wealth of knowledge for those just getting into the electronic cigarette game. The success stories will also give you motivation that you too can do it.

I hope you are able to quit...best advice..don't get discouraged and don't give up! I have been vaping for about 9 months and I am still tweeking. This forum is FULL of great advice...read..read..and then read some more!...LOL
Figure out what you love about analogs, good place to start for me. Once you start breathing better and tasting again, it does help you continue on. Flavor is subjective so take advantage of samples. DIY is a great place, Dawn always still includes free samples of juices for me and I have been a regular customer for about 6 months. I started out wanting something similar to a real analog. After awhile it becomes less important and I moved up to better set up. Bigger batteries and mega cartomizer. Good Luck!

Im a 23 year old student too so I know how that is and being on a student budget. Many people will suggest that you start off with an eGo as yuor first ecig, and it is a great ecig, but it is a 3.4V. I think you should get a 3.7V like the Riva or E-Power. The 3.7V will work really well with LR attys and cartos, and by the way you described what your looking for, I think you will really like them.
Personally, I think you should check out the E-Power 14650 as your first PV. Its a 3.7V that has a 510 connection. Everything on the E-Power is replaceable and can be bought seperately so it really helps to keep cost down especially when your on a student budget. When I first got mine, it was between the E-Power and the Riva and I went with the E-Power and Im really happy with it. One of the big things that made me lean toward the E-Power is because it uses non-proprietary batteries. The
E-Power batteries cost $4 for a replacement compared to the Riva/eGo batteries that cost $14-20, and the E-Power batteries last a lot longer before they need to be replaced. I get about a day and a half out of a battery before it needs to be charged, so youd easily be able to go to class all day and not have to worry about running out. Plus you get 2 batteries with the kit so you can always have a charged battery. Thats what I do and it works great. I carry the extra battery in my bag when I go to class. With the E-Power you just unscrew the switch and the battery slides out of the tube and is seperate, which I like because they are small (only slightly longer than a AA battery) and you can easily carry a backup. With the Riva/eGo, the battery is part of the unit, so they are bigger. This is also a reason why the E-Power batteries are cheaper. When you need a new battery, you buy just the battery and thats it. When you need a new Riva/eGo battery you have to buy the entire part, (tube, battery, and switch) because they are all one piece.

Read this about the E-Power. It will show you why you might like the E-Power more than a Riva/eGo
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/standard-e-cigarette-reviews/233335-anyone-considering-buying-e-power-14650-read.html

If you do decide you like the E-Power, I would get it from Crystal Clear Vaping.
If you get it from there you get a FREE 5-pack of "Ressurector" Cartomizers, a FREE 30ml of juice, and FREE shipping.
And if you put in "ecf5off" youll get 5% off the order.

I think you would really like this starter kit and it would fit your needs/wants. The Boge Cartos are nice but I think you will really like the Ressurectors. They give a great throat hit and produce a ton of vapor, and youll get a free 5-pack to try them out which is a plus. Youll also get a free 30ml juice of your choice. You said you wanted something that had a strong flavor and throat hit and I think the Black & Mild would be what your looking for. It has great strong flavor and produces a LOT of vapor. And again it will be free which is nice. I use the Ressurectors daily and they are by far my favorite carto and the Black & Mild juice is delicious.

Goodluck with it!
