Sure, some people quit vaping too. You will see a lot of posts from people who feel compelled to start dropping their nic level almost immediately after they stop smoking. And then they want to quit vaping ASAP when they get to zero nic. For most people going down that path there seems to be a "monkey on back, I'm a bad person" tone behind it. The way I look at it, after smoking for 30 years and this being the only time I have ever successfully quit smoking, I'm not about to over think if or when I'm going to stop vaping. My MD has no problem with vaping, my Allergist has no problem with vaping. But they both have a big problems with smoking, so...

I plan to eventually quit vaping, but not until I do not want to do it anymore. I am almost 5 months vaping now and still feel like a beginner at it. I am enjoying it. I feel better, it is cheaper for me, and I enjoy it. I am slowly cutting down my nic, one step at a time, with a few months inbetween drops. If it takes me a couple of years or 10 years, who cares. I am not smoking and that makes me happy. Besides, what would I do with my hand to mouth fixation if I stop vaping?

Unfortunately I can't predict my future in that regard, but I'll do whatever it takes to stay away from buying another pack. With that said, I admit that I have given some serious thought about whether or not I would eventually want to quit. Like so many others, I feel as though I just started, so I don't feel there is any need for me to rush such decisions. I started with 18 mg, but I quickly switched to 24 mg. There was simply too much blood in my nicotine system. If I go down in strength, that's great, but if not, I figure I should still be thankful that I am no longer a smoker.

Besides, I also have to keep in mind that not all e-juice is tobaccoesque. Why eat banana pie when you can vape it? :2cool: Of course, being semi-new and all, I am currently stuck on finding the great tobacco flavor, but I may or may not move away from that. I happen to love the taste of tobacco, so being able to enjoy it without most of the serious risks is quite liberating.

I started vaping at 18 mg too, then I tried a 24 mg juice. OMG! I got a bit dizzy from the 24 mg. Now I'm all over the nicotine levels trying out new samples of juice. I like 18 mg so far for chain vaping, but I do keep some 24 mg handy for a quick vape. I have some new juice coming in as low as 8 mg since that was all that was in stock at the time, darn those sales. I'm not real big on tobacco flavors other then the RY4 I tried.

What I have read about tobacco flavors is that the taste is more like an unlit cigarette and nothing like the taste you used to get smoking.
I smoked cheap pall malls so there was almost no taste, lol.
Good luck on your new quest to find the right tobacco flavor.

Started vaping 12 days ago, and have not touched a stinky cigarette since then.
I am planning to slowly cut down pn the nicotine, but can not longer stand the tabacco taste e- juice,
I do love the vanilla and the mint.....also have some cherry, terimasu and grape.
I started on the 24 mg, but it is to steong. Now using the 18 mg, but with my next purchase I will buy the lower dose of nicotine.

Can not believe how easy it was to stop with the stinkies.
E cigarette is the best thing that happened to me.

Bizarrely when i took up vapeing i didn't actually have any desire to quit smoking whatsoever.

I saw someone at a trade-show with an ego-twist, and thought it looked decent enough to be worth a punt (i'd tried the various disposables but dismissed them as junk). The variety of flavors on offer seamed novel and i'd just moved house and thought it might help to avoid smoking inside.

I'm sure plenty of people can and do use vapeing as a way to dial down their nicotine over time, but personally having removed the particularly unhealthy, smelly and socially unacceptable elements of my addiction, if anything i'm even less inclined to quit vapeing than i was smoking

The stuff all arrived, and i set about playing with my new toy, and didn't ever quite get round to smoking an analogue, especially since the 30mg liquid i'd got myself was making my head spin (i smoked 35-40 a day so assumed i'd want the strongest liquid i could get).

After about a fortnight, i was beginning to get bored of vapers tongue which had hit me fairly viciously to begin with. (i was mixing mint & menthol 50/50 and could barely taste it), so went and lit up a .... I couldn't believe quite how foul and unsatisfying it was, and threw it away after three drags. Since then i've never looked back and have officially quit smoking by default!

That sounds about right. I will never find an e-juice that completely replicates the cigarette smoking experience, but oddly enough, I have tried a few that taste very, very close to certain types of pipe tobacco. Halo's Captain Jack is a good example.

I really didn't want to quit smoking. I mostly didn't want to lose the take a break from what you are doing and have a smoke aspect of it. Guess over the years I kinda got used to it. When I realized I had been smoking for 15 years I knew somthing had to change. Recently I was overly tired and hacking alot. I tried the small cig-a-like things but that didn't work for me and I went back to smoking. There were some people at work that were using provari type devices and that intrigued me. I ordered one and when I took my first vape I loved it and haven't touched a cig again. I feel so much better now and love to get home and rebuild my devices. Looking forward to a lifetime of vaping.

Hi everyone, new to ECF and new member.

The OP poses an interesting question that I have recently been asked too. After trying and failing with the look a like ecigs I'm now analog free for two days after switching to Joyetec ego C. The wife wants to know how long I'm going to vape for before I give it up and my reply was probably never at this stage. I just want to give up the cancer sticks but still enjoy some 'time out'.

Does anyone ever quit vaping after using it to quit smoking or do most just switch habits?

I am not saying that vaping is bad or that anyone should or has to quit, just curious.

It took me 40 years to finally quit my smoking habit. I think I have some time before I consider stopping my vaping.

Clearly, I am addicted to nicotine. But now I can indulge without all the health risks.

I also really like the fact that I am now in control of my nic intake. I can raise or lower my levels fairly easily, not possible with analogs.

I started at 24, now between 12 and 6. If I continue vaping for another 5 years, I'm ok with that. If I stop in 5 months, fine. But no current plans to stop, although I'm watching out for when I crave a vape, or when I just vape cause it's sitting there, out of sheer habit.

I do know I am not worried any more, my worries stopped some 66 days ago!!!!

That was what I loved about smoking. I loved having an excuse to leave the room. When I quit for a little while, I expressed my mourning for that. I told my best friend it was nice having a way avoid things. You could say, "I need to go smoke." She said, "Now you have to say, I have to go poop." LOL

But now that I vape, I still get to take my little breaks. It is nice. I have a vape couch at home now. It is where I vape instead of going outside! Husband and I go to the couch and talk. Very romantic.
