Hello everyone. I have been trolling around for a couple of weeks now, and have learned alot from everyone here, so let me start by saying thank you. This is a very well organized site, with a lot of knowledgeable people.

I discovered the e-cig 2 weeks ago. Bought my starter pack of Smoketip's and I was completely on board from day one. Haven't had an analog since my kit arrived, and I don't think I'll be going back down that road. I am very excited to have found these, and have been spending tons of time trying to learn and try different things.

Already going to attempt to buy some juice and fill my own cartos, my samples and blanks should be here today yay.

One thing I am curious about. I am very comfortable with the 808 model. I like the simplicity of it. Not sure if that theory will hold true once I start filling my own but we will see. I was wondering what the next 'logical' progression would be. I looked at bit at the 40x and 501s, but I really dont know if I want to mess around with an atomizer, or other different parts.

Any input / comments / smart remarks are welcome. Again thank you everyone for making this such a great place for information on e-cigs and vaping.

You can use your 808 cartomizers on any "better battery" model such as a Riva, E-Power, GLV2 or power regulated, variable wattage Darwin to name a few. With these models you will get much better battery life and much warmer vapor and throat hit due to the better batteries. All you will need with any of these models is a 510 to 808 adapter that costs about $3.

Here are some suppliers of these models:

Darwin: Nhaler

5 volt GLV2: Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor

E-Power 510: e-Power

Riva UNC: Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva UNC

510 to 808 adapter: 510 to 901/808-D Adapter

My favorite cartos are Boge 510 low resistance and CE2 clearomizers (single coil). You get good battery life and great vapes.

I use an adapter on an 801 Little Dwarf dripper atty with my 510 threaded variable voltage mod. I'm amazed at the hanging, lingering, thick vaper that this atomizer produces at 4v. It's a 3 ohm atty.

I also really like the 306 LR atty with Backwoods Brew juices. Don at BWB revealed that he uses the 306, so what better hardware than the one that the juice mix is designed and tested on? The 306 is a 510 thread, works well on 650mah batts and it is small, so it fits in your pocket if you drip while you are out and about. He also sells the atty types he uses on his site.

I myself like Mega and ego . Mega atomizer type B , Mega dual coil cartomizers and or a cartomizer tank mod . All of these things give you more capacity instead of carring more cartomizers or atomizer cartridges with you . I like the boge 2ohm cartomizers I just don't like that they don't hold enough juice but with a cartomizer tank mod they are great .

401 is a big step down and incredibly annoying to use.

510 is a small step down - a 3.4v battery vs the 3.7v you have.

You have an automatic KR808D-1. The next step up is manuals - much easier to get a good hit and safer from refilling cartos (harder to damage or kill with juice leaks). And you may have the standard second cutoff which would be a bit short for a manual where you want to press the button 1-2 seconds early to have good vapor ready when you start your drag. And on a manual you can use a standard resistance DSE901 atomizer and drip tip to test juices 9drip tips not recommended on auto batteries)

Choices (these could use Smoketip cartos or their own or each other's - I recommend you try the Bloogplanet or SmokelessImage cartos for any KR808D-1:

Vapor4Life is like the original manufacturer model but in colors and they add a custom 10-13 second cutoff allowing longer drags (vs 5 second cutoff for most KR8's). Manual batteries are available.

The rubberized models of KR808D-1 (SmokelessImage, Bloogplanet's current model, Halocigs G6) add 40mah longer longer battery charge w/ regulated 3.6v instead of 3.7v. Their manuals are more obviously sealed though the buttons are small and partially recessed so a bit harder to press. Their cutoff is 5 seconds. Their cartos are very nice bottom coil cartos. Manual batteries are available.

---

The next step up is to a 3.7 fat battery or mod but you will be filling your own cartomizers. Much longer charge and these 450mah+ batteries can optionally use hotter low resistance (lower ohms) atomizers and cartomizers. The fat battery models usually come with atomizer + cartridges (cartridges suck but get a drip tip to test juices). And 510 threading has the most variety of cartomizer blanks. Boge which are simple stuffing cartomizers similar to KR808 cartos are most popular. With an adapter you could put KR808D-1 cartos on these. Just make sure you get a 3.7v model and not an Ego (3.4v). The Riva 510 kits at Liberty-Flights.com are 3.7v (latest stock from the correct manufacturer - if you press the 20% off front page upper left before shopping the Riva 510 kits start at $30 but consider the SE with 3-click disable if they have those in stock. And get Boge cartomizers - 3 ohm is eaier to learn on, 2 ohm is hotter, and get a 510 drip tip)

Thank you all for the advice and warm welcomes.

Really enjoying the 808 model. I've received and filled some cartos of my own with liquids from goodejuice. Have to say I'm not a big fan of some of the seemingly popular types (505, RY4, Cowboy). They are just much to 'pipe-like' for my taste. I tried their raspberry on a whim and its pretty good. Just placed an order for their Wrangler Light and some other fun ones. Will post my opinion after those arrive.

I have to say refilling the cartos is quite simple. Tried the 'condom' method but wasn't crazy about that. Just dripping the liquid in is working fine.

Thank you very much for the detailed descriptions dormouse. Great info.

You could try this to find shops in PA (and any other state you are near): VaporSearchUSA

I buy everything online. And I don't think Vapor4Life has any kiosks or local shops. And the 3.7v Riva 510's - it's hard to know if you are getting a 3.7v one unless you buy where I said - slightly older Riva 510's and another manufacturer's Riva 510's are still 3.4v. but we know that one shop's kits are all now new stock from the correct manufacturer.

Hello Griff, This is my first post, but when I read yours It so much reminded me of my own expierience.I also started with smoketip, and used them for over a year and loved them. They just don't vape as long as I would have liked. Constant changing of the batteries, and charging drove me nuts. I looked and looked and even looked some more for a simple (as in smoketip simple) reliable longer vape. I settled on the HS Echo auto. Alot like a smoketip but so much biger. Plus your cartomizers will fit right on if you don't want the 3ml they include. Though there's are excellent and leakproof. I read often that Ego (not Eho) autos go off by sound or vibration. I truely belive Ego's with butons are the way to go if you bring the e cig up to your mouth for every vape. I like to keep it in my mouth and drag when ever I want. The 600mh batteries with a deraline drip tip to bite on work great but the bigger batteries are too heavy. Listen to what every one says, check the reviews, and soon those Smoketips will simply be a great memory of how you got into vaping.

Thanks for the link dormouse :)

And thanks for the info Marauder. I don't mind the batteries right now. I currently have 3, and I am in front of a computer in my office most of the day, so the usb charger keeps me going well right now. Lots of information for me to pour through and am very exicited about trying some upgrades and different things. Thanks to everyone!!!
