New user, new vaper, question on drip tips.

First off, Hi! I'm new here! I found this site on accident, and I'm pretty excited to have a place where I can ask questions and share opinions!

Secondly, my set up. I run a Vision Spinner II 1600 and an Aspire nautilus 5 ml tank with an eGo 510 wide bore tip. Pictures below. The "holster" you see is a custom leather holster my girlfriend made for me based off of plans she found online. It's perfect for my rig.

So on to my question. As you can see, both my tank and my battery are brushed stainless, and I like the lean, clean look, but I'm wanting to add some excitement with a drip tip. Where do you get your tips, and does anyone have any recommendations on tips that you enjoy?

Thanks!

Hi and welcome!
I actually had an aspire for a minute until i broke the glass but i kept the drip tip but for some reason doesnt fit in many of my rda/rta's to big for my stillare, helio and foggers. For me i use different tips for different setups. I use mainly wide bore shorty/pyrex tips for daily mods and chuff e nuff tips if im blowing clouds. Lately i have been buying most of my tips from fasttech since there cheap or i should say correctly priced. I drill most of tips out as far as i can also.

Nice leather carry case ur girl did an awesome job +1 for that.

dynoman, the aspire has a rather large hole for it. So, the stock tip is kinda big.

fsatatkid, I have a small collection of tips myself. I love using a curved stem tip with my aspire mini and mvp 2. Looks like a torch. So, honestly it's all based on what you want it to look like. Although most drip tips are for looks, there are some that are made to add to performance.

As to answer your question, I've always bought tips from b&m shops. The most I've paid for a tip is 6 bucks from the shop. Most of the time I only pay 4 bucks. Reason I buy em local is because it costs about the same, if not less, than buying online. I mean, 2.99 for tips but that doesn't include shipping. Because of this, I've never bought one online.

If you don't have any local shops than there are some good online shops but I'm not going to recommend any because with my luck I'd suggest the worst site.

I will say, don't order any tips on amazon. They are super over priced. Like 15 bucks plus 5.99 shipping.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the forum!

I buy all my drip tips at local B&M stores as I want to hold them before I purchase. I like to feel the weight of them and check out the finish on the exact tip that I'm going to purchase. I'm just weird that way I guess.

I prefer the long bent pipe type of drip tips so that I can keep my device reasonably straight up and down to keep the liquid (when the tank is low on liquid) to the wicking holes. Plus I simply don't like turning my device sideways to use it when it's so close to my face.

This is the type of tip that I enjoy and am looking for more that actually fit properly in my tanks (some simply are too wiggly for my tastes):

I've found my Nautilus to be pretty consistent with the specs and most tips fit it really well with very little wiggle where as my Aerotank seems to have a smaller hole and some tips simply can't be used even though they fit every other standard type of tank that I own.

I'm not a fan of fancy tips however as I just don't think they look good like the different wooden tips that are multiple types of wood in fancy designs, or the glass and stainless just don't do anything for me and look out of place on my tanks, but that's purely personal preference obviously.

I believe there is a forum here at ECF for vendors and some of them sell some pretty looking tips. Even though I don't like the way they look on my devices doesn't necessarily mean that they're not pretty as objects themselves so you may want to check that out if you're looking for a really fancy tip.

Here is a link to one of the topics in that forum, just backup on the breadcrumb trail and you'll get to the main vendor forum where there are others that sell custom drip tips too:

That's exactly what I use with my mini. Love it!
Also, that's a good point, weighing em and such. I always just like being able to get here and now type of stuff. I hate waiting for vape mail.

Fasttech carries drip tips--order different kinds and see what you like. They are inexpensive there and the shipping is free. I like soft drip tips, like Delrin, and generally dislike metal (stainless steel is OK though).

Found 487 drip tips at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I usually dislike metal too, but I have this one that's "gun metal," and it's great; it seems to retain warmth as long as it's getting any use at all, but all my other metal ones seem to get chilly after just moments. Any idea why "gun metal" would be so much different from other metals? Mine is the large Ming gun-metal from MadVapes.

I think that gun metal in this case just means finish (as in color), not the alloy. AFAIK, gunmetal is an alloy of copper and zinc and something else (like brass). For instance, this drip tip from MadVapes is also listed as gun metal and is made out of stainless steel.

Gun Metal Cannon Drip Tip

Standard size stainless steel drip tip with a Gun Metal finish.

I like stainless steel because it it's non-reactive and doesn't get hot.

Yes, surprisingly, a drip tip CAN have an effect on your vaping pleasure...I somehow got spoiled several years ago when I bought 4 different "art glass" driptips from "Sagewood Glass"..I LOVE them!..but through a few misadventures, I'm down to just two, and I need REPLACEMENTS, I'm dying here!

I've tried the wood, and I just am not enthused...ANY metal seems to click against my dentures...or even worse, taste metallic-y...I don't like the taste or texture of plastic, delrin or acrylic...and the one and lonely "ceramic" tip I have, although not translucent, is pretty....but I want what I want...and don't mind PAYING FOR WHAT I WANT!

I want a "work of art"...something that expresses individuality, something beautiful, esthetically pleasing, a pretty color and TWO (not one) o-rings on the vase...anything else causes them to pop out!

I think all the special orders Sagewood was receiving caused him burn out...because if you waited more than 10 minutes after he said he had them available...they were all gone...so I KNOW they sell well...the cheapest was $30...and I've no idea what he was getting for the custom stuff!

I've also spotted a few that were wrought in gold and/or silver (with and without diamonds!)...silver sells right now for less than $20 an oz (spot), and to spend $300 for a few grams of silver is a little bit beyond my ability to rationalize...after all...MY driptips tend to fall off occasionally...ESPECIALLY when the dog's leash gets wrapped around my vape hand! (I can just see me renting a metal detector and searching the neighborhood for my diamond encrusted drip tip!).

So, where is the next glass blower wanting to start a business!

Yeah, I think you're right about stainless steel (MadVapes "gun metal") -- others I have that are real stainless, they also tend to retain warmth a bit longer than the chrome type do. Which is a shame, really; I have a nice one, which actually originally came on my Hypertank2; it's a really nice shape, looks good, feels pleasant -- except that it's chrome, and it seems to chill at lightspeed.

I suppose it remains to be seen if I still like my gunmetal/stainless tips after it gets to be cold weather.

Via, I agree about glass -- I love those, but several of mine have gotten broken, along with the only ceramic one I had, a white one, which I really liked; I used it in my kayfun on the pearl white vv3 battery, and it was so nicely color coordinated; it broke my heart losing that one. Haven't been able to replace any of my broken ones yet, since I usually have to buy other stuff just so I can keep on vapin'! :D
