These are all great suggestions. I think I might try to fix her up with the KR808, but I guess I have some more noobish questions. Since the KR808 sounds so demure and effective for someone looking to stick with that form factor, I would like to use that battery, but I also was hoping to get something _easy_ to use, which brings cartomizers to mind. Are there particular cartomizer/KR808 bundles I could get her so this whole endeavor is simple?

Thanks again guys! I wish I could hug each and every one of you.

I would go with Smokeless Image, the Pro starter kit, get a third battery outside the kit. Get the Mega PCC instead of the slider (it will hold two batteries and three carts). There are three sampler packs of carts available, get 2 with the kit and one outside. The samplers are Smooth (tobacco flavors), Strong (menthols, mint, cappuccino, classic grape), and Sweet (Cherry, Vanilla, new grape, Watermelon, chocolate). Let her decide what she likes best and order up a supply of carts, and be sure to use a coupon code to make it easier on the wallet. Add a few diamond tips, for her batteries, too. Glamor fun.

Change it up later and add more flavors later. Tastes change as our tastebuds remember what flavor is all about.

You'll have everything you need for the basics to keep going for a while.

This looks great! It may be exactly what I'm looking for. She hates sweet, though, and prefers mild, non-menthol flavors. She just told me now (I am relaying all of your well wishes and advice to her!) that she would prefer something that tastes like Dunhill, of which there are many copycats that seem to have decent reviews.

kia2, does this starter pack come with carts or cartomizers?

They are cartomizers. We shorten that term to carto or carts a lot. The atomizer is inside the cartomizer, hence only a 2 piece system, and a new atomizer with each cart. The new clearomizer is for the X2, though it can be used with regular Volt batteries, too. It will just look rather lopsided and funny. ;) I also may have been wrong and that only one pack of carto's comes with the pro kit, and you'll have to get others outside. Still a good deal. I didn't recommend the Premium kit because I don't know that your mom wants to mess with the passthrough just yet. The Pro kit provides most everything else she'll need to start.

I have no idea what Dunhill tastes like, lol. I'm sure there is a juice if not a cartomizer out there to match it. SI's blank cartomizers are pretty darn nice too - for filling, and now come in a standard and an XL length (for $1 more per 5 pack). I've heard they are similar to or the same as Boge cartomizers. I just keep it simple and get mine from SI.

What is SI, now? Sorry about the noobism, I think I missed it!

I would like to thank everyone in this thread, BTW. My mother is completely beside herself at the turnout in this thread and extends her deepest thanks and appreciation to all of you. She has just purchased a Volt Pro (thanks kia!) and has purchased many tobacco replica liquids. She is very excited to start her life as an analog-free vaper! She especially enjoyed the many different outlets you can shop at. Now if only I can just convince her to jump on the forums, where she can ask her own questions!

Also, though it wasn't a challenge, I am very thankful for all the help on my choices as well. I am very excited to use my eGo-C, but I am a little envious of my mom's Volt now. ;)

Hope to see you all on the rest of the forums!

Hi, Welcome to ECF & congratulations to both you & your Mom! I've never used a KR808 but have read good things about them by some very knowledgeable folks on here. I think the #1 most important thing that will determine if it's a "good PV" is, "will it be used?" No matter how much it costs or how many bells & whistles it's got, if it winds up in a drawer under a full ashtray, a pack of smokes & a lighter then it's not a very good PV *for that person*. I think your Mom made an excellent choice.

As to the cartos for your eGo, I'd suggest Boge LR (2.0 Ohm) for a nice, warm vapor. I also like the Smoktech XL single coil 1.7 Ohm, also low resistance and hold almost twice as much juice as the Boge. If you prefer a cooler vapor you can use a higher resistance carto, such as a 2.5 or 3.0 Ohm.

I've never used an eGo so I don't know if you can direct-drip on your atomizers (I'm sure somebody on here can tell you) but for trying out new juices, direct dripping is the way to go. For that you need a dripping atomizer about the same resistance as the cartos you'll be using and a drip tip. The attys are pretty easy to flush out between flavors, so you can test juices before filling a carto with them. Here's a good site for the cartos: Crystal Clear Vaping and they have *free shipping!* (which is ground, but still cool). BTW, I strongly advise you to avoid dual coil cartos on your eGo; without going into the electronics involved, your battery doesn't provide the voltage needed to get much service out of them. I know, lots of folks swear by 'em but I've tried them at 3.7 volts & they need quite a bit more voltage to cook like they should.

Blessings to you both, & Happy Vaping! :vapor:

Thanks for the well wishes, Warren! Quick question, the Boge and Smoktech cartomizers I want are the 510 variety, correct? It looks like they have a 3-box sale for around $20, which is quite convincing. Also, do you know where I can grab cartridges for the eGo-C? Are they the same between all eGo varieties?

Correct, the Boge & Smoktech cartos there are 510, and they do indeed have a sweet 3-box deal on each. I just checked CCV's site & see they now have the Boge XL (extra-long) cartos for the same price as the Smoktech Resurrectors; I think the XL Boges are something new but could be wrong. Also, note that some of the Smoktech cartos are pre-punched to be used in tanks, so unless you'll be using them in a tank they fit you *do not* want them pre-punched.

As to cartridges for your eGo-C, I don't know for sure. I believe the carts & atomizers for the eGo-C and the eGo-T are different, and sort of presume they are each different from everything else as well, but have nothing of substance on which to base this notion. I hope someone will be along shortly who can answer this for you. I've never owned an eGo so my knowledge specific to them is limited to what I've learned here & what my faulty memory has managed to preserve. I use an E-Power 14650 PV, which is not terribly dissimilar to your eGo; they're both larger battery PVs with 510 connections & can use most of the stuff out there.

Hope this has been of some help. Happy Vaping! :vapor:

Just an update guys: My mother and I both received our units today and it's an immediate hit. My mother absolutely loves her Volt, but is disappointed she didn't get an automatic battery. Regardless, a woman of 40+ years of smoking immediately switched to vaping after one try! I myself love my eGo-C, minus some leaking issues I'm getting (which I think the nice folks in the eGo subforum will help me fix) and already feel better than ever!

Thanks for saving our lives guys! This is truly a life-changing moment for both my mother and myself! Also, my current favorite vape is the Frostfire over at iVape.net. It is so freaking delicious!
