Hey, I'm Dam.

First time vaper, in the sense it's my own.

I've vaped before, but never owned one before.

My cousin bought me some supplies yesterday, as a gift.

Unfortunately... this stupid battery doesn't really have instructions.

It's an "EcPow vape UGO-V3"
The instructions are very limited and not very detailed. (That's on the front.)

Right side says:
*Pre-heating650mAh
*Variable Voltage900mAh

Backside:
WARNING
Nicotine containing products are addictive.
The sale of this product is prohibited to minors.
Keep out of reach of children.
Store in cool place.
Fill tank before use.
(Then details like "Made in China," etc.)

Left side:
Instructions
* 5 Clicks for Power On/Off
* 3 Clicks for Variable Voltage
* 2 Clicks for Pre-heating

To the far left side of that:
Green=3.4V
Blue=3.7V
Red=4.0V

It's never said anything of how long it would take, if light should be solid or flashing, nothing else.

I had to Google it.
The time I could find said anywhere between 1-4hours.

So it's been charging since about 10-11pm last night.

I did wake up between 12 and 3am for water and the bathroom, still didn't notice a change in color.

It's currently 8:52am at the moment I'm writing this, almost 9am.
IT'S STILL RED LIGHTING.

Think my cousin spent $50-70 total for just the battery and liquid.
Only two items.
And I feel like .... that it isn't working.

Did I do something wrong?
Is it a dud?
Can he get his money back for a basically unused battery? (Literally, only been charging)
Is there better battery brands?
Are they compatible with all cartridges?

The store was Uncle Andos Wurld of Weed

    You should never charge these while you are sleeping or out of the house. These batteries and the circuitry within their housing are very, very, very poor quality.

    No idea. I haven't connected it yet, because it said it needed full battery before use.
    If it is the light that is defective but the mod is actually charged you should be able to use the device. Personally I would see if it works; if not you then at least you'll know.

    Like letitia said, it doesn't actually have to be fully charged to use it. So even if it's only half charged you can still use it. Fact is, these batteries usually have poor electronics in them and it may actually be fully charged but the indicator light never shuts off or whatever, so you never actually know if it is fully charged unless you put it on a 510 meter, which aren't easy to find as they used to be. You can also use a multimeter with probes, but that's sort of a "next level" troubleshooting step that most people who use these devices aren't willing to touch with a 10-foot pole.

    According to this red just means it's charged above 3.7 volts. Should be ready to vape.

    That's not the battery charge level indicator colors, that's the variable voltage color indicator colors. This battery is one of those variable voltage 510 batteries where there are 3 preset voltages that you select with 3 clicks on the button to select the voltage you want (3.4, 3.7 and 4.0 volts), as opposed to the "twist" dial at the bottom like the earlier VV egos that were the rage in 2014-ish. It also has a preheat function which is 2 clicks on the button, which usually gives you anywhere from 2-3 volts for 10-30 seconds. These batteries are rehashed ego/510 batts that were resurrected and redesigned for vaping things other than nicotine.

    So I tried it.

    It works.
    My lungs, not so much. xD
    Learning to inhale vape is a thing. Helps to hold the hit in your mouth for a moment and exhale through your nose. Took me about 3 days to get the hang of inhaling iirc. On the bright side... you absorb nic vapor better through the mucus membranes in your mouth & nostrils.
