Dark side of the moon
Greetings all,

I joined this forum back on the 9th, when I received my eGo-T starter set. Just wanted to give an update on how I'm doing.....

So far, no analogs since then, which is a great thing! I don't think I'm getting the same level of nicotine that I got when using analogs. I kind of feel that withdrawal effect but nothing like going cold turkey. And nothing that would make me go back. All positive stuff.

I also ordered the V2 starter kit and just got that today. I need to give it a chance, but for at home use I think I like the eGo system a bit better. But, out in public, the V2 might be a bit more convenient for stealth vaping. I'll have to give things a go and see what I really like. The only other comment that I can make on the V2's right now is that the longs are looooong. Much longer than I expected and they don't fit in the carry case that comes with the V2 Ultimate Starter kit. Personally, I think that should have been brought to my attention when ordering. They did, however, include the XL charging station instead of the normal sized one so that was a plus.

With the eGo-T (using standard sized atty and tanks) I've found that you definitely need to make sure the tanks don't get less than an 1/8 full, or so. Every time I did, leakage everywhere. After reading stuff on this forum I figured out what was going on and since then no problems. I did throw one tank away prematurely thinking it was the tank's fault but live and learn.

One thing I was having a hard time with, though, and this is kind of funny (I don't mind laughing at myself :) ) is that I found it very difficult to fill the tank from the juice bottle. Turns out you have to take of the end cap! Duh! I was filling it straight through the little hole at the end that goes into the atty. The first time I did it it filled straight up with no mess but ever since I'd had to keep lots of paper towels around. Well, I figured out that you have to take that cap off and well, what can I say, filling is so much easier. I've ordered some CE4s to try and will report back on them later. Anyway, I found it pretty funny.

So, all in all, this has been a successful venture. I spent, between the two kits, what I would have spent in a month on analogs. But I have enough of everything to last me at least a month so worst case is that I break even. After that I should start saving some money.

Thanks all for reading!

I went through some minor withdraws for about three weeks in the beginning too. Nothing to serious but rather a feeling of "Somethings missing" type thing....I think you will enjoy your CE4's...As far as stealth vaping goes I have since decided that me staying off cigg's is more important than being stealthy but others here have very nice "Stealth" setups....Just whatever you do don't go back to the cigarettes..:) -Dave

Congrats on quitting and congrats on keeping within budget (doesn't seem common around here...)

If you like the eGo form and performance, did you know they make them in a 350 mah size, very small for out and about, stealth vaping....and there goes the budget........

No, I didn't. Perhaps I'll give that a go next month. And you're right, there goes the budget :) Honestly though, I don't think I will spend near as much on new gear per month as I did to get started.

And thank you ALL for your kind words. I know what it's like when folks post then disappear. I helped someone tab out some guitar solo from Pink Floyd. Hadn't heard back from him in 6 months so I emailed him just to see how he was making out. Never heard back. I like the fact that this forum has auto notification turned on. Can't remember if I had to manually set it to email though......

Thanks again!

Yes, so glad to hear that it's going well for you.

Two things - I had some vague, something's missing, type feelings the first week. Not even strong enough to call a craving, but kind of anxious feeling. I was using 12 mg liquid, although I had been a heavy smoker for over 40 years. I went back to the vape shop and got some 18 mg, and like magic, the feelings disappeared that day.

And, about filling the tanks - the e liquid I bought at a local vape shop came with a needle nose lid which seems very convenient for filling.

Again, wish you continued success and congrats on quitting!

Congrats on making the switch and sticking with it. In time (varies from person to person) you'll find the whole anxiety/craving thing will abate. Most people, myself included, shift their habits with vaping - frequency, duration of session, etc. It becomes a different thing from just being a smoking replacement; it's its own thing with its own qualities and rituals. Many claim they can do without the nic for longer periods than when they were smoking and they just never get the same kind of 'itch'.

It's your attitude and being open to letting vaping become your new norm that will see you through. It sounds like you have a very positive approach to it and that, my friend, makes all the difference. :toast:

Blackie,

Congrats on your success so far!

Nicotine is absorbed differently from vaping versus smoking.... vaping doesn't give you the "nic rush" like a cigarette does. There are various reasons for this, such as particle size (vapor is larger and hence doesn't go as deep in your lungs), chemicals added to cigarettes to increase nicotine's effect, and other alkaloids present in tobacco that can also be addictive.

About 2-3 weeks into vaping solely, I did get some pretty bad cravings for a cigarette. In my case, it wasn't nicotine (I was chain vaping 24mg eliquid) but obviously something else.

Good news is, this is fairly typical, and does go away in pretty short order. Stick with it, get through the cravings, and you'll be golden!

I was a heavy smoker (2 1/2 PAD) so I went straight off the bat with 2.4%. As others have mentioned, the absorption is different and the other components of analogs that are no longer present may be contributing as well. Still, nothing that makes me want to go back. I rather like the fact that there is not the lingering smell of smoke in my apartment and on me.
