Just received 3 new stardust tried 2 with short wick heads that came with work great on 3rd one wanted to try long wick head that came with vivi nova. Vivi Nova heads are shorter so when you put silicone cap with cone on them it leaves a gap between
bottom of cone and top of head seems to be working just as good but worried about leaks or cone sliding down and shorting heads should I have left beveled metal piece from vivi nova head in. Or not used those heads at all?

Got mine today - and candy! Thanks, Dan. :)

Filled it up immediately, of course. :) Flavor profile seems identical to the ViVi to me - slanted a bit towards the nigh notes, unlike the regular Stardust, which is flat. However, the head is not at all broken in, so we'll see if the flavor profile changes. On the other hand, the heads are identical to the ViVi, so the flavor profile ought to be the same, I'd be surprised if it wasn't.

Flavor intensity seems to be even greater than the ViVi, and definitely stronger than the regular Stardust. Of course, I attribute it to the really, really short wicks of this particular head... :p

It works great so far - easy to take apart and put together, nothing leaks, nothing squeaks, no dry hits. It looks great, other than: Bad, Danno, you really gotta talk to Visions folk about this diamond scored edges. Man, they look like something that belongs on power tools. Really. Tell them to do just vertical lines, or a design of some kind, or something - it really spoils the look. It's not so bad on the Vivi, 'cause the edge is thinner. But this is kinda too much. :)

Otherwise, it's great. No complaints so far. :)

Briar,

Would you say the draw just about the same as the previous Stardusts or more like the Vivi?

Bad had alluded to a possible other design for the Vivi later on when I had mentioned not caring for the look also... so cross your fingers that they are looking into a few different looks so everyone will find something that appeals to them.

With the slight design difference on the top sealing cap... I'm considering waiting for the VN 2ml to release... I'm just not certain I can show that much patience and in reality, a 1.6ml is fine for what I was intending to use it for anyway ( juices I like but don't vape as much as my all day vapes )

The draw is very slightly looser than a regular Stardust, and very slightly tighter than the regular ViVi. Or so it seems. There is not a lot of difference.

I like the shape of these better than the upcoming mini ViVi - as I mentioned before, I'm heartily sick and tired of tubular designs. Though I could very easily lose the new industrial ring. LOL To be honest, though, I was hoping for a flavor profile closer to the regular Stardust. I have some juices I love that lose their low notes entirely in the ViVi, and so I can't use them there - or in the modular Stardust, apparently. I know I am extremely picky about flavors, so this would not be a problem for the vast majority. And, to be honest, it's not really a problem for me with the majority of the juices. It's just that I have some rather delicately balanced fruit tea juices that lose their tea aspect and complexity and become rather sharpish fruit-only flavors when the low notes are diminished...

I kinda like the industrial look Briar....lol. I got a couple of the Stardusts in the mailbox today. Filled one with a cantaloupe juice. Managed to flood it...must have overloaded.....and it was gurgling and spitting at me. Blew it out really well, and now all is good. I noticed it being kind of tight and muted at first....but running through half a tank...it has smoothed out and tasting good.

It's been almost 4 months now.....and life is so much better than when I started out with just cartomizers

Got mine today.

Initial impression: 1000x better than the previous stardust. Fit and finish are perfect (but the knurled bottom is unattractive IMO). Put it on the provari to check the Ohms.....ok, get this....the 2.4 ohm.....reads as a 2.4 ohm!!! Thumbs up! The vivi heads never did that so kudos!

Vaping: Like a champ! Blows the original out of the water, no question. Not airy....maybe a hair too tight of a draw but acceptable. Flavor wise....not sure, im using an experimental DIY i made but flavor is there. No complaints.

Tube: ALL of my stardusts cracked/leaked no matter what juice I used, even 0mg unflavored. In defense, I have some still new and cracked in the wrapper. This one arrived in perfect condition, no cracks and should be just fine in that department, time will tell.

Overall: Best EGO sized tank on the market that doesn't use cartos and easy to tear down to clean. My vivi will get gurgly at times where this one does not. Dry hits have only been encountered once so far but probably user error :) Simply awesome!

I love these new Stardusts, the taste is so much better than anything else I've tried, 2.4 heads working perfectly on the KGO, 1.8 is almost too strong for me, but it wicks great, tastes great, and has great vapor. It's practically like dripping, without any of the associated hassle. Super easy to take apart, easy to refill, and of course... easy to vape...and vape, and vape. :vapor:

Well done, Gotvapes! You've created something I won't be able to put down, and made my cartos practically obsolete.

The flavor really pops on these. If you liked the old stardusts, you will absolutely fall in love with these things from the first vape. That about sums it up. I also don't see myself using any of my other devices any time soon. Honestly. :)

I'll be purchasing more of these in the near future, simply because they rock!

EDIT: For those wanting a looser or more airy draw, throw on a 510-ego or 510-510 extender. That should fix you right up. All 4 of the ones I purchased fired perfectly on my KGOs and EGO-T LCD. Nice, indeed.

OH MY! I had originally ordered short wicks..but some of the heads had long wicks..so I tried them first. WOW! I can't figure out ohms and voltages and what works best with whatever..but I do know I'm vaping a 2.8 head on a Stardust..I had it cranked all the way up to 4.8 and it still tasted great. One thing that makes me nervous is that the long wicks don't have the tube sticking up..I think you all mentioned that earlier. Does that make it easier to flood the atty? I really like the tube sticking up. But the vast majority of my order is short wicks..so I"m VERY pleased with my purchase.

I'm vaping one of my favorite juices..buttermint..the flavor is so good! And I found the coil so I can dry burn it :) It's right there on top..very easy to see. Has anyone done a tutorial on how to clean this version? I know I can take it apart, I know how to dry burn..but the only way I know how to clean the wicks is to shake it in the tube with warm water. Do I clean this version the same way? That would keep the water out of the coil. I'm a bit nervous cleaning the wicks outside the tube with the coil exposed like it is. Or should I even touch the wicks when I'm cleaning them?

Another question I've been wanting to ask. As of today I have never burned out an atty. What happens when it burns out? Does it make a noise? Or does it just stop glowing?

I don't have my new Stardusts yet. Bunt on my Vivi Nova and Fluxos, I remove the tank/tube and rinse the wicks in distilled water. I then dry them by patting them with a paper tower and then dry burn them (5-10 seconds on, 5-10 seconds off) until there is no more smoke coming from the coil and the coil looks clean. I then squirt some distilled water with a syringe to remove any ashes from the coil. Dry them, re-assemble them, fill them and vape.

When a coil burns out it just stops glowing. You may or may not hear a pop when it actually breaks.

Thanks so much Stef..that is very helpful. I never thought about using distilled water...that would work really well here..we don't have a water softener. Ok..now I know what to expect when an atty burns out. I just hope it doesn't make a noise. I know I'll jump and it will fly across the room.

Ok..I'm .... about this stuff..I need to know exactly how you clean the wicks without getting water in the coil. Do you use an eye dropper? That's very good to know I can use a paper towel to dry the wicks.

Getting water on the coil won't hurt them.... I stick the head and wicks under the faucet for a hot rinse. Normally my routine starts with a hot rinse – I try to get all of the juice residue out of the wick. Next I soak in isopropyl alcohol (I know, some people feel that it’s ‘poisoning’ the wick and say only Pure Grain Alcohol is safe, but I think that is overblown.) Then I rinse well in hot water again, dry by air or pressing in a paper towel, and dry burn the coil. If it’s especially crusty, I use my espresso machine and steam the coil. Last, I’ll dry burn again if necessary.

The coils aren’t extremely delicate if you use due care. The chanciest part is the dry burn – only short bursts, when the coil becomes red, back off and blow off any loose dust. Depending on the power of your batteries and the amount of buildup on your coil, you may need 3 short bursts or 6… just watch for coils to show clean. Sooner or later you’ll burn out a coil while cleaning – it’s kind of how you learn where the limit is on the dry burn… you may see it glow really bright then stop, or it may just stop… it’s not dangerous unless you have your nose in the coil – now that would hurt!

Thanks Teach so much for your help. Finally I got it :) Using an espresso machine..I am always amazed at how clever everyone is..I've seen so many great ideas since I've been reading ECF. I do have 99% isoprpyl alcohol. That's what I soak my KGO attys in to clean them after testing juices. I also have a KGO battery that I use for dry burns. Poor thing just never worked quite right when I received it..the button is touchy...BUT it works great for burning attys. And no I don't have my nose in the coil LOL

Ok..I'm feeling very confident now that I can use and clean my new Stardusts. I'm soooo glad I started vaping when I did. It's so easy.

OK, I'll admit, I am a lazy bum-ette, and I've just been slapping new coils on when they get dirty on the ViVi. But I'm running out at this point. :D

So I have a question about dry burning them: there is is white ring inside, sitting on top of the coil - it just stays on during dry-burn, right?

Yes, leave the insulator(?) ring in place. If you use really sweet or dark juices, you may find a hard crust on the coil and it takes a while to burn off. If that's the case, after you've done 3 or 4 dry burns, try gently nudging it with a tooth pick. It should start to flake off. Be sure to let it cool for a few seconds – you don’t want to bang on a red hot coil.

Briar...

When I finally need to switch a head out... I just disasseble the VN ( don't have a new Stardust yet but same idea ), rinse it all off with hot water, toss the head into a covered bowl that I have PGA in... and then reassemble with a different head etc. Later on, as I have time ( probably means the next day lol ) like when watching TV or even reading through the posts here... I get the head(s) out to let them dry and then dry burn them on a spare PV/battery I keep charged for just that purpose.

No need to worry about getting the coil wet. I actually submerge the coil and wicks, then pat them dry and do the dry burn. Just make sure you don't have water dripping from it.

Ok..got it. I was thinking I could swish it around..and I'll remember to pat the wicks down..no dripping. Thanks again for all your help.
