I'm having problems with one of my Stardusts. It dumped about half a tank of juice today...laying on its side. Bottom is tight....drip tip is tight. Everytime I try to put juice in it, it floods (it is hard to get juice into, as the head is taking up the space). It is also really "smokey" with condensation. Any ideas????? It totally may be some type of user error..I just can't figure out what it is.

Got my order today and having same issue as far as condensation - really "smokey", although I have no leaking. I was also wondering if this was normal. Also been getting a lot of burnt hits. Mine has the dedicated 2.4 stardust coil head - short wick.

I had a lot of condensation when I first "started it up", but it went away now. I didn't think anything of it at the time...

Are you filling it all the way up to the wicks?

I've had similar issue with a few regular Stardusts - if I fill them to a certain point, they flood like crazy. I never had them actually leak, but a couple came close. I think some heads overwick, and if they get access to a lot of juice, like when they are immersed in it while on the side, or when the tank if very full, you can get bad flooding. Maybe that's the case here?

BTW - I also like the diamond cut base!
I like the diamond cut base too ! :D I have been using my duster with the 2.4 'duster' head on it that came with it (short wick ) and I've had no trouble with it. :?: No leaking, no dry burnt hits, and no condensation. I wish I knew the answers for you guys cuz this thing totally is a perfect vape for me

Perhaps my experience I had with the v1 Vivi Nova using v2.5 heads may be of some use here... I don't have any of the new Stardusts yet so some of this will need to be "translated" over to the differences the SD heads have..

First as a suggestion that those having the leaking and/or vapor filled tank issues can try... even if you have done this it can't hurt to suggest it...

Make certain that both the top and bottom are tightly screwed down since if they aren't, that would cause more of a gap at the top seal. This is probably the first thing to check I'd think.

On the older v1 VN... when I used the newer v2.5 heads... the silicone tubing at the top used to seal the unit had a gap. I noticed that I got vapor in the tank and that it had a lot of condensation... There was no reason to check for a leak since it obviously would run right out of the top through the drip tip.

I took it all apart... slid the silicone tube ( seal ) up and then slid the metal cap that is inside of the tube down so it seated against the top of the head. The only down side this caused was that the slots for the wicks is enlarged and this did still allow a little bit of leakage when the tank was/is placed on it side full of juice. Still, this completely stopped the vapor from filling the tank and I ended up with almost no condensation.

There will be a bit of a difference in the metal cap that is in the sealing tube of the VN v2.5 head and the metal cap in the Stardust since the SD's has a stove top shape to it... still I think it is important to push this down onto the top of the head itself so the sealing tube itself doesn't tend to slip back down and get a small leak/gap at the top.

Hope that helps at least a little bit

PS... just thought of another direction after reading Briar's last post..

If the top of the sealing tube is making a good seal, unlike what I just described... perhaps moving the tube down so it covers the wick slots better is in order... remember I still have a slight leak due to the slots being opened up but just not as bad as it could have been with a gap at the top.

I just dumped the bit of juice that was left....rinsed everything out and set out to dry. Will try it again tomorrow with a different juice. I didn't think I overfilled it...but will be conservative when I refill it. I'll fiddle with the silicone cap before filling as suggested above.

I had another thought... What if the wicks need to "fill out" a bit right at first, to fill the slots completely? If the wick is not filling the slot, the juice would leak in, and the vapor could get out, maybe?

I give up. I just absolutely give up. If you can't beat them, join them. Fine, I'll get used to it. (spoken with rather ill grace and a foot tapping the floor, while muttering to myself how silly this industrial-looking thingie will look on a batt with purple flowers on it)

OK, I can try to pretend that this does not look like a bolt of some sort, but rather a decorative design, a Victorian lattice of some sort... Oh, who am I kidding - it looks like a bolt!

 I'm with you Briar. I much prefer art nouveau to steam punk which seems to have a pretty big fan base at present :)

uhmmm maybe if it was yellow it would be a pretty bolt ?

j/k :laugh::laugh::laugh:

it's not just that I don't mind the 'look' of the etched pattern, it's that with my fingers not being perfect anymore (carpal tunnel etc) that pattern makes it easier for me to grip the duster and take it on and off my pv then the smooth ones  so it serves as an extra benefit for me. I also appreciate it on the vivi nova too. I hope for those who don't like it, they can make a smooth finish in the future. But I hopes they keep the diamonds for us old crippley folks too :)

I absolutely agree with that part - I just think they could have made the pattern a bit more artistic and a bit less industrial, is all... Oh, well.

Actually, the knurling is done by a standardized machining tool to provide better grip on the threaded parts so it’s more functional than decorative. There are different patterns available, but they’re all rather industrial. Here’s a link to Travers – maybe you can pick a pattern you like better! 'course then we need to convince them to retool the factory... We'll just tell them Briar wants it that way.
