Thinking very hard about getting an EVO... I was able to hold one for a few minutes, and I've been wondering...

The sleeve that goes over the battery tube can fit 2 18350s or 1 18650 (I tried my 18350 and it does fit, perfectly). Is it possible to put a spring inside the sleeve so that it acts as the battery holder? A single 18650 plus kick can also fit I reckon (I don't have a kick) if the spring is not too high and maybe use spacers if not using a kick. What do you guys think?

Ok, after some backreading, I found that someone IS using the cover as the battery sleeve:

I use the top cover as my battery sleeve with the 16340's just so i have the vent at the bottom and it wouldnt have to blow BOTH caps. Also I am pretty sure you cannot use an 18350 in there. i get a day and more with two fully charged 16340's on yellow and red settings :)

@therealmac: I tried my 18350s and they fit perfectly inside the cover. You say you use the 16340s inside the cover, but isn't the cover too long? How do you make them fit? Did you put a spring inside? Thanks!

Maybe it can be done, and you won't know until you try. I've read that someone used the long sleeve.
For using the kick, I have the impression that it is for unregulated tube mods where the 3VO is a regulated mod. I maybe wrong though.....
All in all, since the 3VO is a multi-voltage device (I don't consider it variable voltage but that's just me), I don't think there is a need for the kick on the 3VO. If you want to use 18650's, you should get a mod that fits 18650's.

Just my :2c:

@samurai671: thanks for the reply... forget the kick (it's too expensive anyway lol). Anyway, how do others get the cover to work as a battery sleeve? All my mods are 18350s, so the idea of being able to use my existing batteries on the evo is very appealing... I don't have an evo yet, though tomorrow I'll be hanging out with my friend who has one. I can try 2 18350s on it, though the problem of getting them to connect is still a problem since the cover is longer than two batteries stacked...

I don't have the EVO yet either (it's on it's way to me in Guam maybe another 2days, just left Hawaii). To make it work as a battery sleeve, I would try to put in a spring and see if that works. If the batteries still don't make contact, then I would use spacers.
However, by doing these things:
1) It may void your warranty so if anything goes wrong, you are SOL.
2) It could be dangerous as the cover sleeve was not intended to be used as a battery sleeve.
3) Do you remember the news of the guy who had his PV blow up in his face?
So in conclusion, I would highly recommend NOT using it in a way it shouldn't be. And if you choose to do so, it is at your own risk.
I do understand, though, the idea to be able to use your existing batteries. If you look at my mods, which is currently the LT and the Roughstack, I've only used 18650's and was kind of bummed that the EVO doesn't, but I think of it as a way to have a variety of batteries.
When I do receive my 3VO, I will post a small review here.

@samurai: But isn't using the sleeve "safer" in a way? Since there will only be a single bottom cap left to pop out in case the batteries go bad, and there are holes in the cover already? But yeah, 16340s will still fit my existing charger and having a set of different batteries does have its advantages. Good on ya you'll be receiving yours soon! I live in the Philippines so I need to think each purchase through since sending them back for repair/replacement costs almost as much as a new PV :)

I'm pretty sure they did everything to make sure it is safe before they put it up, the last thing anyone wants is a lawsuit.
Yeah, I saw on your location it says Philippines. My wife is from the Philippines. Wow, if sending them back costs me that much, I would think really hard too, in addition to the amount of time it takes for shipping!!LOL Even if Guam is US territory, it still takes us 5~10 days priority and if it's sent regular mail, 10~14 days, and express...forget about it, we don't have that option. I guess because of our location.
Honestly, it took me a long time to think and re-think if I should buy the 3VO or not, but with all the good reviews I couldn't resist!!:D
Anyways, I don't think you'll be disappointed if you get the 3VO because it is COOL looking!!
Hmmmm.....just a thought, I wonder if it would be cheaper to send it to Guam then to repair then back to Guam then back to PI?

@samurai: Kamusta to your wife :) A lot of Filipinos in Guam I hear. Actually, the idea of using 18350s is just out of curiosity. It's not a deal breaker. The reason why I'll be hanging out with my friend who owns one tomorrow is to test it and see if the available voltages suit my tastes. I don't want to spend double/triple for other VVs where I won't even use the other voltages :D

I use a 3.7 mech mod and while it suits me fine, I crave the fresh-off-charger feeling (4.2v?). I also have a VV passthrough (3v, 3.7v and 4.2v) and though 4.2v suits me fine, I find myself wanting just a bit more (4.5v maybe?). So tomorrow, I'll be testing my friend's evo and see what the hype is all about lol.

On the edge of insanity..
@frazam Here is a youtube link if you are really interested in the top cover/battery sleeve idea. Honestly, I am still a little concerned about the batteries in the slight chance of a catastrophic failure. BUT....you can put two protected 16340 batteries in (mine last me about all day)(heavy vaper) that will last most people all day. The end cap is drilled and while there is some slight room around the batteries...very slight I think that between the protection of the batteries and the unit itself I really don't think there will be an issue. JMHO

As for the kick...I'm not quite so sure that the kick will work so well in a pulse wave modulated device??? I guess you could try but as samurai stated it very well could void your warranty? Might want to check with 310 vapers first. Matt I am sure will chime in when he gets a chance.

I'm going on my 2nd week with my 3VO and couldn't be more impressed/happy with my purchase!!! :vapor:

EDIT: And I don't think that using the top cover as the batt sleeve will void warranty, but ask Matt that as well. It's only being used as the ground with the ground spring so it shouldn't matter.

Hey gang! Just ordered mine yesterday and delivery is set for Saturday - Nice, fast shipping.

Went back to the beginning and read the thread to get caught up. Had been eyeing this mod for a while but wanted to wait for the V2 and felt I deserved a new toy (my wife may not agree LOL) so I pulled the trigger.

Everyone seems very please with the mod and cannot wait for it to arrive. Only question I had was if 310 was going to carry the chrome tanks and if there is an update on the colored covers?

Hey ChrisKY! Sweet on the order! I don't think that you'll be disappointed with your purchase. Yes, their shipping dept (Joeffrey) is "Johnny on the spot" when it comes to getting the orders taken care of. I asked Jon on the live feed about carrying more tank options and they do have the new Surge Tank. While I really like it, it's just a bit too pricey for me. Not sure about the covers??? Last I heard they were getting worked on...

Hope you enjoy when it arrives!

@redfox: Awesome! Thanks for the vid! That's exactly the answer I was looking for! :) The cover fits 18350s so I can use them as well. But if I do, I'd probably drill several vent holes since it's a snug fit, or just use the 16340s... no biggie.

Oh, I read earlier that the ver. 1 also has an on/off switch, albeit it takes longer (15secs). Is this confirmed? Cause my friend has the ver. 1 and I'd like to tell him the good news :) Thanks again! I'll be getting one of these myself as soon as I get my next paycheck! woohoo!

@frazam Your'e welcome! Yeah, that is why I have two sets of batts. My first set lasts me while I am out and about and I usually have to change them around 6 or 7 at night. My day starts at 7am.

On the on/off feature. Both of my V2 3VOs turn off at 15 sec. Hope Matt/vap3 chimes in on this issue. I would hate to think that I purchased a V1 under the impression that I was buying a V2. On there site it only states that it has an on/off feature.

EDIT: Taken from loongtotem site.

"Smoking time duration more than 10 seconds per time, the system will stop working. The LED light flashes 10 times to show the alarm."

So, I don't know?

EDIT 2: Ok, so evidently there are more than two different versions of the 3VO/EVO/SVR. Quite frankly, the damn thing works and works amazingly well! So, for the price point of the unit and the way it works so well...who cares....lol

Myvaporstore has dctank tubes with end caps for $4.65 in clear and smoke black. The chrome end cap tubes are $8.55 and tubes come in 5 colors. I hope 310 will start selling them this way. I've swapped the chrome caps onto my smoke black tubes and they look sick, especially on an ego or any mod that is black and chrome. Way better to buy your cartos and drip tips separate in bulk. I've had bad luck with the single carto that comes with a dctank. Talked to a 310 employee yesterday and they will be sending me a new 3VO next week when the new shipment comes in. Unfortunately, something went wrong and mine had firing issues after a week when a carto was screwed in flush and snug. If I backed off a hair it worked. Manufacturing defect I guess and the first problem they've had of the 400+ units 310 has sold. Otherwise, this is fantastic vv mod for the price and really slick looking. Seriously hits like a cannon. I was told also that they have a local business working on painting the caps. The actual battery sleeves will NOT be any color other than chrome, just the screw on cap covers.
