Actually for a touch screen user... the Start Screen does make sense.... The problem is it doesn't apply to the keyboard and mouse effectively or efficiently which is what most users on a desktop use. Luckily, third party utils like Classic Shell addressed the issue and anyone running Win8 and still complaining about the Start Screen ( because they aren't using one of these utils ) only have themselves to blame at this point. A touch interface IS needed... it just isn't all that is needed by everyone.

Got Classic Shell. Still didn't like it. So I switched back to 7

I've been running Win8 on two systems ( work and home ) using Classic Shell... it almost looks and works exactly the same as Win7 with the addition of the more security and better speed that Win8 brings and if I ever get a touch screen... I'm covered. Classic Shell is very configurable if you just take the time to look through it's advanced settings but the basic ones get you pretty close. The only drawback I had was a compatibility one with an older program...

It was compatibility issues, and a bit of rashness, that led me to revert. A lot of the programs I run, for digital mapping and even warez, had issues. But it was scripting in Python that broke the camel's back. Hopefully 8.1 will be better cuz Apple aint an option

Reset !!!!

(Game started 7/29 @ 10:30 AM)

As of Tuesday 7/30 @ 10:08 AM
Let 'er Rip !!! -- Round #3
Pick 3 numbers from 1-400

Check the board for available numbers:
Link to Gotvapes Game Board!

Colored cells are taken.
Winning number(s) are chosen via Random.org at game end.

The Prize: Kamry KTS and two disposables

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = == = = =

A 'liked' post does not mean you've got that number (or that you yourself are even liked). The first person to pick a number gets that number whether it's marked on the board or not. When we 'Like' your picks that means one of the five helpers are marking them on the board. If there are any mistakes/conflicts, we will reply to your post. So check back a while after you pick to see if we noted any problems.

Please do not edit your pick posts.

If someone already took your number, or an error was made, please wait for a helper to post the error. Please "Reply With Quote" to the helper's post with your new pick.

A helper will announce a new round of picks at random times, so check back often and keep track of what round you've already made picks in.

Rounds may last anywhere from 16 seconds to 36 hours based solely on our whim. There are no rules. Life is unfair. Good luck!

We call it a "reset" when we go into a new round. You still keep all of your previous picks. If you miss a round you do not get to back and make up picks. You can only make picks for the current round.

The game ends when the sheet is filled. We then announce the winning pick.

Play to win! There will be no PIFing of number picks. The winner of any contest can PIF the prize if they choose to do so Here.

Theses aren't rules. They are guidance. And they may change at any time. Without prior notice. Maybe even without ensuing notice.

I've got a couple of clients that has to stay with XP due to their main program they rely on not supporting even Win7 ( Vista never counts ... lol ) and only one so far that doesn't have an option to go to Win8 since their point of sale program version doesn't support it... that company does provide a cloud based system with Win8 support but that is impractical IMO since it relies on an internet connection, something that isn't always available. I have a util I use to create a bootable Windows CD or USB that even has issues on Win7... so I run it in VM like Hyper-V which comes with Win8 Pro.

Overall... My clients that have opted for Win8 are liking it a lot... of course I've set them up how they liked as well which often includes Classic Shell and other tweaks. When setting up a system for a client, we ( the client and myself ) go through their required program list to ensure they aren't going to have an issue with compatibility before they dive in...

All of this win7-win8 talk has my head spinning worse than linda blair in the exorcist. I am still using XP and hope I never have to change it. I know I rebelled when hubby changed mine from win98 to XP but I would raise cain if he wanted to change it again.

Good luck in getting yours all set up miss yiddle. I hope it will be easier for you than I know it would be for me.
