I came across some gauze that came from my dentist when I had a tooth pulled recently. I took it and cut a strip about 5/8" wide and 3" long and rolled it up tight and stuffed it in my 510 cart. So far so good. Doesn't leak and wicks a long time without refilling.

I think I'm going to give that a try...it would have to be absorbent since it's used in packing the pulled tooth and it sounds very safe.

I read somewhere that some gauze is made from cotton and some from silk. Any idea what yours is made from?

I'm pretty sure you don't want to inhale any burning cotton, I would be a little concerned using any cotton filler to wick.

I'm gonna sound like a troll here, but I got two opinions on this. One is that if this is gauze youre using, that's a pretty loose cheap weave that will be cotton based, I'd be worried about that shortening your attys life.

As to actually inhaling the vapors? ****, the pesticides in the wood you burn for a campfire's worse for ya if you where so inclined to inhale smoke from a campfire.
