I recently picked up a new spool of wire. VapeSupply's Kanthal A-1, 28 Gauge/AWG, Resistance Wire, 100' Length: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific

My local vape shop charges $.99 a foot so I thought this was a great deal but I feel like I can taste the wire. Are all wires pretty much the same or did I get crappy wire by cheating out?

All wires are Not the Same.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Alloy of the wire you bought in your Local Vape Shop Is/Was different that from the Wire you bought on Amazon.

BTW - You did Clean the New piece of wire you got from Amazon 1st with 94% Rubbing Alcohol, and then give it a Quick Torching before you used it. Right?

I didn't clean it with alcohol but I did torch it a few times and also dry burned it for a few seconds to or three times before putting in the wick. I may go back to my vape shop and see what brand they use. It didn't seem so finicky

What you did should have been Enough to remove any Residual Oils that were leftover from the Manufacturing process. Or from Re-Spooling/Handling the wire.

I would do what you said about Talking to your Vape Shop and finding out what Type of Wire the are selling. You might also tell them that you can get Wire Much Cheaper on the Internet. And could they Cut you a Break?

BTW - How many Feet of Wire do you go thru in a Average Month?

Lol you make a very good point. My coils didn't need to be rebuilt I was just bored. I am sure I can probably go a very long time on one build and spend probably a few dollars over the course of a year if I didn't get bored

See... I fall into this sometimes myself. Here's an Example.

I use 3-x-5 Index card for all kinds of things. Lists for the Store. Reminders of things to do. DIY Recipes. Too Many things to Mention.

So I'm e-Bay last night and I saw a Great Deal on 250 Cards. But right before I did the Buy Now, I did a Search for 500 Cards. Wow. There were Better Buys per Card. Well if 500 Works, why Not try 1000?

Sure enough, at 1000 Cards the Price was Almost half per card that at 250. Buy Now Time.

But then a Voice in my head say's... "Do you Really Need 1000 3-x-5 Index Cards? That's like a 7 Year Supply of Cards!"

I think if you are Happy with the Vape Shop wire, and are Only spending a Few Bucks a Month on it, that I would just Buy 10 Feet of it a Call it Quits.

See...

The "Voices in my head" say... "Do you Really Need 1000 3-x-5 Index Cards?

In your head, zoiDster... I'd say that's pretty insane normal.
