You know what my biggest complaint about the Bellus is?

The damn seam between the filler cap and top catches my mustache and yanks hairs out. Painfully.
funny you say that. that happens to me, not with my bellus, but with some of my tanks that have loose drip tips. sometimes a single strand of hair will get caught between the bottom of the drip tip and top of the tank. yank, OUCH!!!!

Daaaamn, if I wick it like that I get CONSTANT dry hits at even 25 watts! I have to do the pancake wick method...

Chain vapes no issue @ 90 watts, picture was taken specifically to show the build, pulled right after a 70 watt chain session, you can see how saturated it was. Only reason I can see for dry hits using this method is cotton density, or your specific cotton. Shiseido cotton is the current bag I'm working on.

I don't bother closing the AFC when filling, no tipping, tilting, inverting, no leaking, have now run this build to 120 watts not even a hint of low saturation.

Just got my Bellus today. So far it's an awesome vape! It's a little more tricky to build than the Aromamizer that was stolen from me but IMO the vape is so much better! First build is dual 26/34 gauge claptons, 2mm ID, 6 wrap at .35 ohms. No leaks or dry hits, guess I've got beginners luck at wicking!

Flanked by two of my Billow V2's...

So I can't quite get my first build nailed down. I would normally be trying to figure it out on my own, but this is the first time I've had trouble wicking an RTA in a while (Crius, Cthulhu v2, Goblin mini and the Aromamizer being the most recent).

My problem is that I keep getting "half-dry hits" every 3-5 pulls. And it's rare that I get a saturated pull unless I heavily prime.

I wicked it using a quasi scottish roll -- not very much resistance pulling through -- and cut my wicks to a few mm above the bottom of the channels. Do the wicks need to be lightly contouring the inner portion of the channels, or does it matter? My wicks fit within the space, but they do puff out (they're sort of thick/dense tails, I guess).

Running an 8 wrap 26 AWG non spaced...pretty simple build.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you have the channels overstuffed, choking the juice flow. Try thinning and shortening, both have worked very well for me at least: New Youde RTA the Bellus

I've been recovering from a few months of using and loving a lemo, where "wicking chunky" was the way to go. Since the tails are still probably thicker than needed, trimming them back to that shelf in the channels seems to work well. One thing that has helped me is building Scottish roll with adding rayon. I pull apart the cotton and rayon and lay one layer over the other, then roll it so the rayon is the outer layer. I figure this reduces the amount the wick swells when wet.
I'm going to start trying to make the tails thinner and longer and see how that works as well. My last wicking leaked when refilling and I fixed it by pulling the tails out longer.

Just ordered a few of these from 101vapes and looking forward to trying them out as replacements for some of my generation 1 RTAs (KFL v1/v2 clones; Fogger 1.5). I missed out on the Authentic Aqua V2 sell-off a month or so ago, since I enjoy the Tobecco clones so much. Should have these in a few days, and pretty excited about them.

Whelp, thanks, that did the trick. This thing likes a lot less wick in the channels than most that I've tried this year.
