I have one also!

SS Mesh wicks pre-oxidixed are available from Provape, you will also need the wick insulators if you did not get any if you choose not to use the ceramic.

325 x 325 VG based (primarily) liquids
400 x 400 PG based (primarily) liquids

Ok here is what I have found and has been confirmed by the Zen gurus:

The ceramic is the most durable if you break it in like the video (I did).

Run your Zen at about 4.7 volts (that's what I use).

The flavors are not as strong, menthol's and mints are stronger with the ceramic wicks.

If you want to adjust the air flow skip the tig, place a piece of scotch tape over the hole from the backside, and use a TINY sewing needle to poke a hole in it. (I am used to the airy draw).

SS mesh will give you better flavor saturation (haven't tried but I have the wicks, waiting on insulators from Provape).

Use a small O ring over the shaft to allow (cause) interference so you can line the wick up with the fire button (It WORKS)!

To clean the ZAP, suck the juice out and do a few dry burns, refill with new flavor (It works)!

The ceramic is the least maintenance of all the wicks, you do not have to change the wick when you change flavors, same with SS, but not as durable. Silica sucks!

As of right now being my first rba I am amazed, It's GREAT!

Did I miss anything?:2cool:

What are the wick insulators you are speaking of ? I looked on the Provape site and didn't see them.

Bingo!

I hadn't had time to post this, but if you buy an O ring kit it comes with it.

Kim from Provape emailed me regarding this earlier...

Now this being said the Z-Atty is the only thing from House of Hybrids Provape sells, one can reach out to customer service at ElectronicStix as they sell the full line if Zenesis products.

BUT they do not sell the Zen for the Provari, that is solely distributed by Provape...

House of Hybrids has a phone # for customer support, as they may offer some free insulators???

I mean I already bought an O ring kit and didn't even look to see it was in there

It's worth a try calling House of Hybrids if you don't want to buy an O ring kit!

mackman,

OK Mr. Preloader,

I am finally puffing my "ZAP". I won't repeat everything you said in your first post but I am loving it. More and Clean stating vapor!!! It tastes like what the label on the e-juice says. That has never happened to me before.

I am using the coil that came on it and it is 1.6 Ohms which is lower than I would like but "I ain't fixing something that ain't broke" :)

That's awesome. I've learned to use my weaker flavors on the ZAP. Strong flavors don't need the boost.

That's probably why this juice tastes like it is suppose to. It is suppose to be Pall Mall flavor. On the Pro Tank it was OK and a little tobacco, on the ZAP it is cigarette tobacco (Pall Mall maybe) with a very light sweet taste. I was beginning to wonder if 55 years of cigs killed my taste buds.

I was eavesdropping in on the "NET Tobacco" thread and they were always describing all these different subtle flavors and I just figured my taste buds had reached the point of no return or those guys were lying. I guess they weren't lying. ;)

Wrapped my first coil. I switched to a 325x325 SS mesh wick and did 5 wraps. It came out to 1.9Ω. It was a lot easier than I was expecting. And it took very little fidgeting to get the coils to fire evenly.

The Preloader strikes again.

That is the best look most evenly lite coil I have seen especially on mesh including YouTube.

I had a strange thing happen on my ZAP. I had not measured the coil and just used it... too anxious. Then I checked it and it was 1.6 Ohms. I decided to wind my own trying to come close to 2.5 like I use in my Pro Tank ended up with 2.7 and figured good enough.

Now my problem (still using the ceramic wick) is pretty low vapor production running at 4.5 volts. I had been using Vapage e-juice which I believe is 70/30 PG/VG. So I mixed in some Crystal Clear Vapor juice I had that is 85 percent VG and in my Pro tank it generate a ton of Vapor but it didn't help the ZAP, well maybe a little.

Have you experienced anything similar and does the mesh generate more Vapor than the ceramic with your "Stunning" coil?

The higher VG didn't seem to wick well on the ceramic for me. I'm not surprised, being that VG is thicker. The mesh definitely seems to saturate faster when I tip my Provari horizontal. As far as vapor amount, I don't see any additional vapor with the mesh wick, but I do find it doesn't dry hit as often as the ceramic wick would. And even if I do manage a dry hit, it doesn't taste as awful as the ceramic wick did.

Hmmm...

With the 1.9 Ohm new coil what voltage are you running?

And boy I know the taste your are talking about with a dry hit on the ceramic - YUK doesn't fully describe it but ECF won't let me tell you what it really taste like. :(

I can get bigger cloud with a little more wattage, but it sacrifices flavor and risks dry hit if I don't really wick pause between hits for a safe amount of time. With higher PG it may wick faster and allow a little more wattage. I'm using 60/40. So 70/30 may allow a little more than the 8w that is my sweet spot right now.

3.8v with the 1.9Ω coil. I just used the wire that came with the ZAP. I wonder how I could get one to 2.4-ish, so I wouldn't have to walk my voltage down so far when I throw the ZAP on. I guess more length, as in more wraps.

3.8 Volts @ 1.9 Ohms = 2 Amps You should be able to crank up the voltage with no problem.

Mine is 4.5 volts @ 2.7 ohms = 1.666 Amps. I just 5 Volts which is 1.85 amps a little closer to what you are running.

Do you have an ohm meter?

Give me a little bit, I stumbled onto a table that show the resistance per length I'll IM you when I find it.

If it helps I just measured a piece of the factory wire and two inches is approximately 3.0 Ohms (you can't count the length under the screws - I know you knew that but just to be safe).

I am a DIY on the liquids and I run about a 60/40 to 50/50 and I am still thoroughly happy with my Zap @ 4.7 volts.

Seeing as I do not have an atty ohm meter, and I haven't felt like fiddling around with the DVOM to get a reading so I have no idea what my resistance is...

I did come upon some very interesting hybrid wicks one can make:

SS Mesh cable with a silica rope core.

I haven't gotten the stuff to do this yet but I have a few links I can post where to buy the supplies on Ebay and some Youtube videos as well.

Zeroescence is pretty well versed in the wick making area and was very helpful in guiding me in this area.

For right now I am very pleased with it, and haven't had to do anything except refill it!

I would note one thing...if using NET' I would think that they will leave more residue than other liquids, therefore I probably will be use one of my Protank II with my NET' I have coming.... although I will have three Z-Atty by next week, why have to break it down to the metal to clean it? JIMHO...

Who knew we would need a degree chemistry and physics to get our nicotine and flavored juice fix.

ItTechy,

I remember you talking about the SS cable for a coil. You have to let me know how that works out. I still can't get my mind rapped around that. ;)

On the NET juice I bought some, I think it was Vitta Bella or something like that. Any way someone suggested I get 50/50 mix, Don't that much VG just kills the flavor. 60/40 or 70,30 would probably been a better choice. I'll try again when I get over being mad with the 50/50.

OK - now the part that may or may not be true. I used the Vitta Bella or Bella Vitta (whatever) before I had my ZAP in my Pro Tank and it appeared to plug up the small Pro Tank Coil. I would think the ZAP with mesh would be a better deal for the NETs. It should be pretty easy to clean with a small brush {like the ones that come with electric razors} and some alcohol.

By the way here is a link on how to rebuild a Kanger Pro Tank coil. It is dog simple.

It's great for me. It keeps my hobby bone engaged and distracts me from missing cigs.

Oddly, I haven't even wrenched on my car since I got into vaping.

It's amazing how some things drop by the wayside when you get a new hobby.

I don't miss cigarettes but sometimes when I am but sometime when I am busy or watching TV I will reach over my shoulder to get my cigarette out of the ashtray. Then for just a couple of seconds pause before I realize there is NO ashtray and there is NO burning cigarette, grab my APV and just smile. OK - sometimes I think I am losing it when that happens but I can live with it.
