The State of Confusion
I had been sent this or seen this link in a previous post but hadn't had the time to watch it.

I just watched it and indeed with some wick and wire these are pretty simple....they are also very small for big hands and seeing as I suffer from CSS "Can't See Stuff" I may leave the BCC building to those with better vision and smaller hands...

LOL

This is why I was so particular when shopping for rebuildable attys...I love that the Z-Attys are actually on the larger side and appear to a bit easier to work with....dunno yet I haven't had to do a re-wind yet....

I will look up the videos on the SS rope over the silica wicks for the Z-Attys and post them...

Thanks again for this, very informative!

ItTechy,

I remember you talking about the SS cable for a coil. You have to let me know how that works out. I still can't get my mind rapped around that. ;)

On the NET juice I bought some, I think it was Vitta Bella or something like that. Any way someone suggested I get 50/50 mix, Don't that much VG just kills the flavor. 60/40 or 70,30 would probably been a better choice. I'll try again when I get over being mad with the 50/50.

OK - now the part that may or may not be true. I used the Vitta Bella or Bella Vitta (whatever) before I had my ZAP in my Pro tank and it appeared to plug up the small Pro tank Coil. I would think the ZAP with mesh would be a better deal for the NETs. It should be pretty easy to clean with a small brush {like the ones that come with electric razors} and some alcohol.

By the way here is a link on how to rebuild a Kanger Pro Tank coil. It is dog simple.

I know what you mean about the CSS I seem to have that myself and I'll tell you that 32 Ga. K-wire is smaller than any wire I have dealt with. When it comes to rewinding the ZAP it is easier than wind a limp wick (no I am not going to repeat that). With the ZAP everything is pretty much held in place by the unit you only have to deal with the loose end. Anyway I did it the first time with now trouble so I am sure you will find it pretty easy also. The only thing to watch out for is the Ceramic material is a little fragile whereas the mesh... I don't think you could break that if you wanted to.

As far as the wire; 100 ft. for $4.75 a guy could afford to make a lot of mistakes not that I ever do but I have heard some people do. :D

3.8 Volts @ 1.9 Ohms = 2 Amps You should be able to crank up the voltage with no problem.

Mine is 4.5 volts @ 2.7 ohms = 1.666 Amps. I just 5 Volts which is 1.85 amps a little closer to what you are running.

Do you have an ohm meter?

Give me a little bit, I stumbled onto a table that show the resistance per length I'll IM you when I find it.

If it helps I just measured a piece of the factory wire and two inches is approximately 3.0 Ohms (you can't count the length under the screws - I know you knew that but just to be safe).

Here you go about 1/2 way down the page:

Bosun,
Mackman,

You two are the greatest. I said I had seen this information before but for the life of me I couldn't find it again.

A very humble thanks to both of you.

You are welcome!

I cut and paste all of these notes/tips/comments from the forums into text files. I'm prone to having CRS and have to do it that way!!

Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
My cat gets on my laptop in front of me, and sits on my keyboard, I think he is jealous of my attention to the computer...

Kitties I wuv 'em

One of my only soft spots! (stop making fun of how I talk to my kitties)! ;)

We have 14 indoor pet cats and I don't know how many ferals outside. We've sort of been running an informal cat shelter here.

Now that I have a few bucks I need to arrange for another trap/spay-neuter/release for the new ones. We haven't had the money in quite a while and the population is getting out of hand.

We were doing just fine until someone in the neighborhood rounded up as many cats as they could catch and did something with them, we don't know what. They got a couple of people's pets, as well as one of ours. Maintaining a stable, spayed/neutered feral population in a neighborhood helps keep new ferals from moving in and overrunning the place, but some idiot decided to take things into his own hands. I hope he didn't hurt the cats.

Yes, I'm a crazy cat lady.

I have one also!

SS Mesh wicks pre-oxidixed are available from Provape, you will also need the wick insulators if you did not get any if you choose not to use the ceramic.

325 x 325 VG based (primarily) liquids
400 x 400 PG based (primarily) liquids

Ok here is what I have found and has been confirmed by the Zen gurus:

The ceramic is the most durable if you break it in like the video (I did).

Run your Zen at about 4.7 volts (that's what I use).

The flavors are not as strong, menthol's and mints are stronger with the ceramic wicks.

If you want to adjust the air flow skip the tig, place a piece of scotch tape over the hole from the backside, and use a TINY sewing needle to poke a hole in it. (I am used to the airy draw).

SS mesh will give you better flavor saturation (haven't tried but I have the wicks, waiting on insulators from Provape).

Use a small O ring over the shaft to allow (cause) interference so you can line the wick up with the fire button (It WORKS)!

To clean the ZAP, suck the juice out and do a few dry burns, refill with new flavor (It works)!

The ceramic is the least maintenance of all the wicks, you do not have to change the wick when you change flavors, same with SS, but not as durable. Silica sucks!

As of right now being my first RBA I am amazed, It's GREAT!

Did I miss anything?:2cool:

Just the fact that the ceramic wicks are fragile as egg shells. The 6 I went through before I made a coil without breaking them. It was fantastic. Great vape and flavor. Pure and clean. Then it fell 3' to a carpet floor. Wick broke and I'm back to SS mesh. Even I can't hurt one of them. (OK. That's a lie. I've been able to destroy a SS wick when wraping it.)

tnt56,

I have an easy solution to that by them pre-rolled just like the cigarettes you used to smoke. :D

I am going to try some mesh wicks but I ain't even going to try and roll one. It is hard enough to rap the wick. Actually I haven't purchased any mesh because I am still lucky enough to have my first ceramic still in service. As you said the taste with the ceramic is really clean unless you manage to get a dry hit in which case - YUK!

Actually rolling the mesh is pretty basic especially if you have ever rolled any cigarettes or other . I think a lot of people watch the YouTube videos and get intimidated about wrapping coils. Watch the video Zen does on the Provape site for the ZAP and look at his coil. It looks like S#*& but fires well with very little tweaking.
I almost exclusively use rebuildables and just picked up a ZAP in a trade. I have to say this atty is unbelievable. It is a breeze to wick and coil and the hit and taste are superb. I had heard a lot of comments about the airy draw; but the vapor is smooth, mellow and abundant. Right now I'm running a 1.5 ohm coil @ 3.7 V (9.1 watts) simply sublime.

Now that is strange your 1.5 ohms @ 3.7 volts for 9.1 watts on you ZAP. I am at 2.7 ohms @ 4.5 volts for 9.1 watts on my ZAP. Hmmm...
I may try rolling my own. The truth is I am getting paranoid about buy more stuff. I was looking at some 32 Ga. K-wire and some wick material to rebuild my Pro Tanks, the wire for both the Pro Tank and the ZAP.

There just seems to be no end to the Vaping stuff purchases. I look at my signature and the amount I have saved by not smoking cigarettes and say to myself, self someone is lying to you. Now I am off to buy some SS Mesh - Ugh!

Oh on the airy draw, at first it shocked me a little but coming from the Pro Tank it wasn't too bad. Then this morning I pulled out my Tesla with a Pro Tank and it felt like I was trying to suck a milkshake thu a swizzle stick.

Well ItTechy, I don't know if that OMG thread made me feel better or scare the Hell out of me thinking about how bad this could get. ;)

It may be expensive but it is still better than smoking. Besides it is the fault of the internet, see I am not the problem. I knew if I tried hard enough I could find someone/something to blame it on.

Hey I have spent more on Cigars in a year than I have spent in 5 on vaping and vaping hardware, and consumables.

Five years - must feel good to off the SMOKE for that long. On my previous post I noticed how many days you had and was very impressed.

Then I looked at my signature thingy and was surprised. I don't think I have spent that much on vaping gear YET. But it is not for lack of trying.

As far as cigars go I know you can spend a lot of money on them...

Replacement O rings can be obtained from Provape or ElectronicStix in the kit form usually with a wick insulator and whatever else comes in the kit.

You can also order the O rings yourself in a different material such as Nitrile or Silicone which is resistant to some of the e-juices and flavorings which will deteriorate and or swell the original neoprene O rings.

The top cap size is an -016 (one required)

The body size is an -014 (two required)

You can get O rings from various sources on the internet, one is OringwareHouse

Hopefully this information will be helpful to some.

The sizes are courtesy of Mike from The House of Hybrids. :thumb:

And yes I know you have to place a minimum of $5.00 with Oringwarehouse which is a lot of O rings....

But I have 3 Z-Atty' and vape Cinnamon Red Hots, Coke, and Root Beer ...all eat polycarbonate and neoprene!

I am sure there are some other sources out there, or even some local suppliers in larger cities that will sell small quantities....

Jus' an FYI

Vape on dOOds and dOOdetts! :vapor:

I plugged your 4.5v and 2.7ohms into a conversion table and come up with 7.499 watts. I roll my wicks and build my coils one because I have so many rebuildables (yea I can't pass one up) and enjoy building and tinkering. I buy my wire at Temco and had used 32 gauge round kanthal a-1 but have switched to ribbon wire 0.5. It is very forgiving and hotspots are basically non existent and provides a greater surface area of heat. Here's the link Flat Ribbon Kanthal Wire RW0323 - 0.5 x 0.1 mm (0.197 x 0.004 in) 50 FT 0.18oz Series A-1 Resistance. I bought my mesh off eBay $9 for 3 6x6 sheets. So for less than $20 you have enough probably for years the way the wick and coils last. Yea I look at my signature and know I'm in the hole but I am enjoying the s*@# out of this and my health has never been better.
