Well sure enough, I filled my ZAP with some thick 100%VG Alien Vision juice, and I can't get any wicking action.....

SS mesh. Any ideas on a better wick for the VG?

Preloader,

Did you prime the coil end of the wick with the 100% VG? I think you might have trouble if the coil end of the wick has a lower viscosity juice then the bottom end. Just a thought.

Standing by ...

Genius! It worked. AND, because 100%VG...... Massive clouds.

24 hours later... I'm having trouble with the ceramic wick. Doesn't seem to wick fast enough. Maybe I chain vape too fast? I may have to switch to the ss wick too.

I lasted about a week before I switched to SS. I may go back to a ceramic just to see if it was my lack of ZAP experience that was the issue. But that being said, the learning got much more rapid with the SS mesh wick. It prevented me from giving up altogether.

Glad the "Alpha Prime" worked. Personally I think a lot of the Reviews on YouTube are using 100% VG there no way you can get as much Vapor as some of those guys without something like 100% VG.

OK I am going to have to try some SS mesh, just to keep up with the "Preloader".

Speaking of grooved.... I plan to slice a channel in my nylon wick sleeve when I rebuild again to promote juice flow.

How about Ekowool it is hollow. I saw a rebuild vid and the guy put a crochet hook down the center of the Ekowool then wound his coil and remove the metal rod. that way you end up with a wick with a hole down the center. :2c:

@ DarkGear, I am going to go look for some grooved ceramic right now. Thanks for the tip.

Finally sick of it, gave up and thought I'd rebuild and found the ceramic wick was broken right inside the top plate. New wick, new coil and this thing is GREAT now. This wick is grooved, by the way. Three spiral grooves along along the length of it. And now it wicks great. Loving it now. :)

Sure glad you notice the break inside the head or you may have been ready to pitch it out the window.

Are you using the black porous ceramic wicks? I have not seen any with the spiral groves where did you get it? Last night when I went searching for grooved ceramics all I could find was the white with straight vertical grooves and apparently they are the older type.

The wick is the darker color ceramic. It has three grooves and they have a very slight spiral to them. Not even a third of a turn down the length of it. The wick that came installed in the ZAP and the replacement in the tube were the same. Came straight from provape.

Or you could mark the relation between the wick line of scrimmage and the fire button, and remove the top cap of the Provari and rotate it where you want it to align and re-install.

Only problem with that is that it changes the vapor/throat hit. I tried the o-ring on the shaft and I still had to screw it to the same place just to make contact. Ah well. It's really not a big problem.
