I only plan on 18650s. I am going slow when inserting the battery. I just don't know if a tight fit is what the manufacture wanted? It does fit but really snug/tight. I am just curious if this will destroy the internal components that are visible. Also If I buy the larger cap will a 18650 batt fit inside better?

LOL! I told you that the extended caps are perfect for the 18650s when i got mine :)

She has no trust in me lol we just went through all of this.

could it be the batteries?
this is what I am using
Ultrafire 18650 3600 mAh 3.7 v Protected with Flat Top Battery

The Gray Panasonic flat tops are said to be the best with the Z. It is what I am using and they work well. I am so sorry that you are not able to use the mod after waiting extra time for it :(

Take out the battery and look down at the contact for the battery, it is a small brass ring but it is only soldered to the circut board on one side so it is kind of fragile. I use the extended cap for 18350's and its a little tighter than I would like but I can also use the 18650 with the same cap. So do you have the long spring in the short cap? Just count the coils.

LOL, exactly what I told her yesterday.

crash, Please let us know when you get your batteries tomorrow. I have my fingers and toes crossed for you!

seems that both the springs are the same length
After you know whether or not that you don't have to return that one, and I don't think that you will , cut exactly one coil off of the one for the short cap and either bend it or heat it on just the cut end to make it flat.

The suspense is killing me, did the new battery do the trick?

ok so I got a better battery in here and its working now.
this new one I got is protected but seems to be doing fine.
its a marsfire 2600 mah and seems to be working great.
I will play with some settings for a while and report back...

The only thing I dont like about it at the moment is the sharpness of the slits in the side of it.
if I decide to keep it I will chamfer them a bit to make them smooth

That is great news about the battery.
I for one actually like the sharpness of the slits as the chrome one, that I sold yesterday, was too slippery so I feel I have a better grip with it that way.
