Hi all.

Ive tried everything to stop smoking in the past but now l have been diagnosed with moderate COPD its an absolute must! I bought my first e-cig kit yesterday and have been using it since 8pm last night.

The craving for a "real cigarette" is stil constant though, is this normal?? The retailer who sold me the kit said l shouldnt have the cravings as the e-cig is delivering nicotine, but lm really struggling....

I just searched Socialites and it looks like a cig type ecig. if this is what you are using, then i believe you may need to step up to an ego style battery ecig or even a mod. there is a big difference in the amount of vapor and flavor. Im sure someone will advise you on what to get. Just hang in there, by the end of the day you should have many options. Good luck

Ok. I think you are just having beginner withdrawals. Your body isn't just craving nicotine - there are about 6,000 other chemicals in tobacco as well that you've been addicted to. Keep vaping as much as you need to - as long as you don't get a headache from it. You don't want to get nic sick (which some of us have done sometimes). One thing to keep in mind is that you abosrb nicotine differently when vaping. Letting the vapor sort of roll around in your mouth a bit helps. As I understand it we absorb less nicotine through vaping also - so vape more than you smoked.
A cig style ecig is fine to start off. A bigger battery will mean less time between charging - which you may consider a bit later. If you have at least two batteries you should be ok. You need a second battery as a back up so you can charge one while using the other.
Sorry if that's redundant - I don't know how many batts you have.

So vape, and tough it out a bit - it gets better.

For a heavy smoker I have found the PV's that look like a cigarette dont work. I would try something with a bigger battery, like this:
KGO kit1100mAh by SLB or anything else with a 1100 Mah battery. Use it with these carts: GotVapes PHOENiX™ REBORN Bottom Coil XL 1.5ml Carto 2.4-2.6ohms [gv-PHOENIX-XL-2.4-510] - $11.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more and a 24mg nic juice of your choice and you will be set. Of course other people will have their own recommendations.)

What would you call a heavy smoker? I smoked 40-50 per day, smoked for over 30 years, and quit with ciggish size pvs - which I still use during my work day. I've used that size for the last 6 months. I know lots of others have used them successfully too. I do have some bigger batts also - but for the first few months the small size was fine. Of course it depends on what kind you get.
This thing about smaller sizes not working is a bit of an urban myth that keeps getting perpetuated I think.

Thanks kiwivap, lm deffo gonna try. The longest lve lasted going cold turkey is a day and a half in the past. This doesnt feel quite as bad as cold turkey, but it comes a close second lol

Greetings from Canada! Welcome to ECF!

First of all, stop trying to make this so Hard! Lol

This does not have to be one or the other. Cigs and e-cigs are just ways to get nicotine. One is less harm (you figure out which one, Lol) It is not unusual to need a few cigs each day until you get familiar with the equipment and routine of vaping. I started with small batteries and pre-filled cartomizers and got down to 2 -4 cigs a day. After a few weeks I found out about eGo and the Star Dust (the Star Dust was the newest clearomizer at the time). They gave me the long lasting batteries and the larger amount of vapour that enabled me to quit cigs completely.

None of this was an easy overnight process. I had to remind myself to vape first whenever I needed a smoke. Even in the beginning, cutting down to 2 -4 cigs was a huge step as far as health and finance was concerned. I suggest that when you stop fighting and surrender, things will become easier.

I would advise you to get:
2 of the Joyetech eGo Twists (Joyetech because they are reliable),
2 Vision Mini Vivi Nova (the large Vivi Nova is easier to use but looks a little odd on an eGo),
some spare 1.8 ohm heads (because they are usually a little higher ohm than rated)
a USB Rapid charger 420 mA output (or 2, because you should always have a backup), and
24mg juice (many small samples to try different flavours)

Limit your cigs to 4 or less per day until you can target them out completely. Remember that each day is different and you may only need 1 cig one day and need 3 the next if it is more stressful. Eventually you will reach your goal.

Relax, Enjoy!
