What would you call a heavy smoker? I smoked 40-50 per day, smoked for over 30 years, and quit with ciggish size pvs - which I still use during my work day. I've used that size for the last 6 months. I know lots of others have used them successfully too. I do have some bigger batts also - but for the first few months the small size was fine. Of course it depends on what kind you get.
This thing about smaller sizes not working is a bit of an urban myth that keeps getting perpetuated I think.

I agree that not everyone needs more than small batts. That's the beauty of vaping, there is a size for everyone. The important thing is to let people know there are choices. Also, we can only speak of our own experience, we can't say what will work for somebody else. Many people have stopped smoking, if that was their aim, with small batts. Some, like Jacqui Op and myself, struggled while using small batts. That's when the big guns were necessary, for me. I hope everyone can find the combination that works for them.

Well Jacqui has just started - so she is detoxing from 6,000 chemicals. The post I responded to stated they don't work for heavy smokers. That's just not true. There's an assumption often here in the new members forum that the problem is batt size. It isn't always the case. I've sat here on the forum helping some-one with an ego size batt on day one who was having withdrawals. Not everyone has a smooth crossover at first.

I meant to add - I did recommend the UK forum - as a better batt - a better cig size or larger - is probably on the horizon at some point.

Hi Jacqui - what is the nictone level your using? Are you using cartomizers? Need a bit more info to be able to help.

Give yourself a pat on the back! I have some lung damage myself, tho not COPD. I have to say I feel incredibly better since I started vaping. (Not my best grammar but you get it I'm sure).

Thanks kiwi, lve never had the willpower to do it, even after the diagnosis in May and the prognosis if l continued to smoke.

I tried the patches but had an allergic reaction to them and the gum is just vile and as useful as a chocolate kettle. The doctor prescribed Champix a coupla weeks ago but lve heard so many horror stories about them lm more afraid to take them than l am of the COPD, lol.

Im hoping when l see the doc next week that she doesnt scare me off the e-cig as well cos l have run out of ideas to help :-0

I had patches and had to stop using them too as I developed a rash. I never tried Champix. I know two people who have quit with it ok. But like you I heard some horror stories. So vaping has been it for me. My doctor has been very pleased that I quit cigs and am vaping. So hopefully your doctor will be similar.

My skin looked like 2nd degree burns using those patches, lol.

I mentioned my doctor maybe unhappy cos l read a post on the British Lung Foundation website forum that somebodys doc advised to stop using e-cigs immediately as they havent been tested or approved by british medical practitioners, but l'll continue until lve spoken to my doc on Weds ;-)
