A few local gas stations finally started carrying e cigs (njoy). So I have been seeing a lot more vapors around. I ran into some a gas station that has a little chicken joint in it. They were all puffing away on their njoys. I thought this was great so I went over to have a conversation and pulled out a reo grand.

It was immediately apparent they had never seen a PV other than their minis. They dug in on how much it looked like drug paraphernalia and ridiculous I had to press a button. Njoys are the best e cigs etc. There was this smugness about them generally reserved for wine enthusiast. I have encountered a few new vapers with a similar experience.

I pulled out some ECF cards but no takers.

It's just odd how they can become such snobs about a (inferior) product they really know nothing about in a short period of time.

O well I will keep puffing on my e cig all day and they will keep charging theirs and buying carts day in and day out.

"Ignorance breeds confidence more often than does knowledge." (-Darwin) They sound like hipsters who will probably stop using them once everybody starts buying them -- or buy a Rio, because nobody has those. And naturally they'll conveniently forget that they had previously snubbed their noses at it.

Or maybe I'm just cynical. :) But I suspect that as this stuff gains in visibility and adoption you're always going to get those pockets of people for whom it's "their" thing for their reasons and your PV sucks. It is in anticipation of encountering situations such as this that I want to make a gigantic tube mod that lights up like Tron, plays the 1812 Overture every time I press the button, and makes clouds of vapor so dense you need SCUBA gear to find your way out. "What the hell is that? That tiny little LED on the end is all that lights up? Dude, that is so last decade. Let me show you something -- and you'd better put this on..."

I have a friend like that. Everything he owns is better than everyone else's just because its his. His computer is better, his car, his house, his shoes, his garbage

I live in the Detroit suburbs and I've yet to encounter another vaper out in the wild. Granted I don't go out much, but I'd like to meet someone some day and have a random conversation about them. I just hope its not people like the ones you just described.

South West FL,
Alot of people are just really hung up on the e-cig looking like an analogue> I have to admit when I first started vaping (nJoy nPro) I never would have thought it would become my hobby or that I would be able to be content with a larger PV. Give them some time. I too have been seeing ecigs around alot more lately which is crazy because just a year ago I had to go on a wild goose chase to find one around here. Only the 7-11 like 10 miles from my house carried them, now they have them at the gas station right on my street, Not that I will ever pay 19.99 for a 5 pack of cartomizers again but cool just to know it's catching on.

I was being polite through gritted teeth. Here in Arkansas (as well as the south in general) there are a lot of smokers. That is a lot of opportunities for people to switch to e cigs. I am glad i see it more because it will make my life easier as it gains acceptance. But I hate when people close their mind and argue about things they have little knowledge on.

Maybe one of then will get tired of paying out the nose for carts and remember that one guy who said there was better stuff out there.

some people will be smug about anything they have, it's just general doucheyness. Next time sit in your corner with Reo in hand and ignore everyone. Make sure you wear skinny pants and a fadora. Look bored. Someone will get curious.

Idk about skinny pants, but I think I could make the fedora work

On the other hand, how do you look? How do you know they haven't been vaping for years? Who are you to say that your reo grand is so much better for them than their choice of njoy? Your statements here give the impression that you believe that you are better off than they are. Yet you were the one who went over to complete strangers, unprovoked, and attempted to pass out ECF cards to them. I dare say that I'm not sure they were the ones who were snobs.

What works for some people doesn't work for others. That's why there's such a variety of mods out there. Not everybody wants a VV mod. Not everybody wants a manual switch. For some people, how it looks is more important than how many volts it pushes.

Think about what if you were in a store, and some random person walks up to you and tells you that your Toyota Hybrid is no good, and that you need to buy a Dodge Charger because they have one and it's obviously better in every way.

I think the OP was just trying to be helpful, I would have done the same thing, and I am the furthest thing from a snob you will EVER find.

The people that walk door to door and try to convert you to save your soul feel like they are just trying to be helpful... How do you feel when they show up at your door, though?

My brother is EXACTLY like this. He is the one who introduced me to vaping. We both went to the tobacco store and got our nicsticks the same week. Now, I have a collection of about 80ml of liquid and a riva 510 lite bundle on the way. He can't seem to understand why I'm concerned with so much juice and with better ecigs. Every time I see him puff on his nicstick for about 30 minutes and stick it back on the charger, I say something like, "you wouldn't have that problem with a riva". And he's always wanting to try different flavors of MY juice and I'm always saying stuff like, "Why don't you buy your own awesome flavors online instead of spending $2 a ml at the tobacco store on liquid that is much, much worse?" Then his atty pops in 2 or 3 weeks after I've been trying to encourage him to keep it clean and take care of it. He always responds with something like, "Why you gotta get so d*** technical with it? I just want to enjoy my nicotine. You're being obsessive and wasting money". Sad part is, I'll pay as much on my juices and multiple ecigs as he will on his one nicstick and one 5ml of juice a week. People just don't wanna listen :/

While I love reading these types of threads, I think Darrigaaz has a point. I started a new job a month ago and finally found the smoking area this week. Yeah, I'm chomping at the bit to spread the wonder of vaping to everyone, but I've found that it's far more affective to lead by example. I've found that if I make the first move, I just get dismissed. I can see already that the smokers here are curious about what that thing is that I'm puffing on, but nobody's asked yet (other than my non-smoking coworkers who ask why I'm going out into the smoking area). Still, I know it's only a matter of time.

I'm sure it's the same with the newly vaping. In fact, with life in general. People are typically resistant to new ideas unless they themselves take the first step. All we can do is lead by example and get them curious enough to seek us out for information.

With that said, let's keep ripping on these narrow-minded newb snobs! They can't hear us anyway. ;)

I too think that Darrigaaz has a point, upStomp. There is plenty of snobbery going both ways. I see so many big battery users making fun, here, on ECF, of those who prefer super minis, minis and, God forbid, autos... Why? Live and let live. Whatever works and makes people happy...:)

I've been vaping for quite some time and never needed anything bigger or more powerful than a true 3.7v Riva and a LR atty. I love and frequently use small batteries, especially when I go out or drive. They feel right in my hand and I enjoy their familiar, ciglike size and shape.

Not everybody wants/needs a big battery.

Happy vaping, folks!
