OK Please forgive my ignorance. Newbie isn't even the word for me! I am brand new to even researching the whole e-cig thing! I'm still an analog smoker. My husband and I both want to quit cigarettes but neither one of us want to give up the nicotine (go figure!)

My biggest question is, are ALL models of ecigs out there capable of being refilled with juice rather than replacing the entire cartridge? My son said he knows people who are using Blu and they love it, but their web site does not show any juices...so I was assuming that they are not refillable. They also do not offer many cartridge flavors. I want to try fruity flavors like coconut, pineapple, etc. So can I buy the Blucig and refill it with juices from some of these other suppliers you all refer to?

My husband does not have a lot of patience. He will give up on vaporing if I buy e-cigs that are not user-friendly or have issues. I will make sure we have plenty of supplies on hand once we figure out which brand and which type to go with.

Any and all advice and suggestions on where we should start is welcome! We don't want to find ourselves giving in to buying cigarettes because the e-cig thing is not a good experience. We want the best product available no matter the cost, as well as the best juices.

Thanks in advance! I can't wait until I can post one of those banner stating "Smoke free for.....days"!!!

Some are disposable, some require cartridges because dripping onto the atomizer can cause the liquid to leak into the battery, and some support cartridges and dripping.

I can't really offer an unbiased opinion, but I first got a cheap no name to try and ended up getting the Janty KissBox Classic.

I have found it difficult to find a solid answer to the effect of "buy this one", because you can't get everything at once. You will sacrifice battery life for size etc... I suggest reading many reviews and see what fits best for your needs :)

Yes, by all means, start your research NOW! This is the perfect place to come. Thoroughly read all the information you can find in the New Member's Forum, there are many "Thread" or Topics, with many discussions "Posts" in all of them. There is great information about all the most popular e-cig devices, and a lot of information to guide you for choosing a correct density or amount of nicotine in the liquids (juices) and a very helpful Dictionary for trudging through all the abbreviated names (I need that too!)
Good luck, post often, you must post in the New Members for a little while until you are allowed to post in any others. But you may of course read all other Threads, as well. That should keep you very busy for a few days, there's much to know.
Ask questions, there's no such thing as a dumb question, we are all virtual beginners here with this technology. I have been cigarette free for over months because of e-cigs, so I know it can work! From day one!

Let me start with my standard statement that e-cigs are not a 'magic bullet' to smoking cessation, nor are they approved for this purpose. That said, many users, myself included, have successfully left ananlog cigarettes behind using an e-cig as part of a personal harm reduction strategy.

Most any e-cig cartridge can be refilled by the user. Certain brands want you to buy prefilled cartridges so they can make more money. Refilling does not need to be done often whereas topping off is a daily routine. When vapor production begins to diminish, the cartridge filling is beginning to get dry. Topping off a cartridge is just adding a couple of drops on to the cartridge filler, reinserting into the device and vaping. If periodically topping off throughout the day is too fiddly for your husband, he may not enjoy the vaping experience.

There are lots of good devices out there, but you have to start somewhere. I would recommend that you dive into a super mini (M401, M402) for a device that is very close in size to a tobacco cigarette. Another good device is a mini style device (DSE901) which has always been very popular. Perhaps you buy one of each. Most online suppliers offer these devices and e-liquid. After you use the devices for a few weeks, make a note of things you would like to improve in the vaping experience and use that to help you plan your next device purchase.

These devices can be fiddly and frustrating at times. The most important thing to do is have spare atomizers on hand. If you have an atomizer die, you cannot vape. Also, having a few spare batteries is a very good idea, too.

Two suuliers for you to look at include RockyMountainVapor.com and dietsmokes.com.

My husband does not have a lot of patience. He will give up on vaporing if I buy e-cigs that are not user-friendly or have issues. I will make sure we have plenty of supplies on hand once we figure out which brand and which type to go with.

Yes, Blu cartridges can be refilled. I've never used one (cancelled my order after 6 weels of waiting) but I've read that it is possible. They don't hold much liquid, apparently.

Since your husband doesn't have much patience, you may want to consider a cartomizer type e-cig for him. The cartridge with the juice is combined with an atomizer, so you get a new atomizer with each cartridge change. Having a fresh battery and a clean atomizer are the keys to getting plentiful, consistent tasting vapor. Cartomizers can also be refilled several times, just takes a different technique. For more info, try this subforum:

As for you, you could try a conventional 3-piece e-cig with battery, atomizer and seperate cartridge, especially if you want to experiment with a lot of different flavors. If you smoked full-flavor cigarettes you might consider a 510 model; these are very popular and you can get them in several colors. If you smoked ultra-lights, a 910 might work better for you; they're known for smooth, good tasting vapor. For a heavy smoker, one of the so-called "mods" is a good choice but it looks nothing like a cigarette.

I suggest you start out with your new e-cigs on a weekend to give yourselves some time to become accustomed to them.

One more thought: e-cigs aren't as effective as tobacco cigarettes at delivering nicotine to your bloodstream. You may want to use nicotine patches or gum temporarily during the switch from smoking to vaping to ease the process.

Good luck, and don't be afraid to ask about anything!
