Hello World,

I've been analog/cigarette free for almost 4 years. These e-cigs look interesting. I love smoking hookah on occasion and the thought of having a personal and portable device has me very excited. :toast:

Anyone have experience using e-cigs as a smoking device that does not deliver nicotine? I would like to learn more about nicotine-free flavored vaping.

Any suggestions on which device I should use?
I have read the FAQ stickies and most of the beginner guides in the newb forum.
There is a lot of information out there regarding all the different machines. All these choices are making my head spin!

Most people on this forum have used e-cigs to get off of analogs. Many of them have successfully gradually lowered their nicotine down to 0. I would reccomend buying Tasty Vapor doublers. Very inexpensive for a huge bottle, and they are all 0 nic. Atomic Cinnicide and Geoff's Blend are my current favorites. For an occasional user, as it sounds like that's what you would be, I would suggest the 510 or KR808d-1.

Hello D-Soul--Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping. Any of the juice suppliers I have dealt with offer their juices in 0mg nicotine, so getting nic-free juice is certainly not a problem. You could also make nic free juice very cheaply yourself (see the juice forums for much more info). As to which model, from my reading and experience the 510 is perfect for those just starting out. It works very consistently and I (and many others here) would recommend them highly. Cignot--dot--com sells them about as cheap as you will find them. You are right, tons of info here, but its all very helpful and has guided me well. Ask any questions you may have and someone will always be able to answer it. Good Luck!

Thanks for the responses emily and deathtobacco!

I was wondering about buying pre-loaded cartridges vs liquid. I could see the advantage of loading up your e-cig with juice but the minimal effort required to just snap or twist a new pre-loaded cartridge has me thinking it may be what I should try first. Any pro's and con's for one or the other?

I don't want to be consistently maintaining the device.

lol, is there a simple device that I can charge, plug in a pre loaded cartridge and just enjoy flavored vapor?

Yes. If you don't want to fuss with it at all, I'd recommend a cartomizer model like the Kr808D-1, or a 510 with a cartomizer. Both models are popular and quality e-cigs, for beginners and gurus alike. Cartomizers hold more liquid. You can certainly refill them, but you don't have to, strictly speaking.

However, you will spend more money doing it this way. If you aren't going to vape frequently, or don't mind spending money on it, that's fine. It's still cheaper than smoking.

A cartomizer will go for hours - I get 4-6 out of mine on the Kr808. I do refill them, because I like to save money, and it really isn't that cumbersome. I can do it in under a minute.

Not sure there is a zero nic pre filled cart? Not a common request. Maybe someone else knows. I still think even if they are available that you're going to pay too much buying pre filled carts. I don't know maybe money isn't a concern to you, but it's just so much cheaper to buy juice and fill yourself. Good luck, I think you`ll enjoy vaping even not being a smoker, just stay nic free for sure!

Pre-filled carts tend to not last as long, though in your case they might be fine since you won't be vaping heavily. It comes down to cost, you can refill the carts you get in a kit basically indefinitely at a very low cost, or buy them prefilled for more $$$. Plus refilling yourself allows you to try tons of different flavors. Otherwise the 510 or kr-808d-1 fits the requirements you are asking for. Also, using cartomizers instead of carts will allow for less frequent refilling. A 510 has a small amount of basic maintenance (as do all e-cigs) but it seems to be one of the simplest and user friendly models. There is a forum here to compare all the different models as well. You will find the right combo for you and I bet you have a lot of fun in the process.

You can get 0-nic pre-filled cartos, but I don't think you can buy them with the kit. Or at least, I've never seen it. But you can buy them separately. I think Good Prophets has them.

    EDIT: Yup.

Could you link me? I am having trouble locating that forum/post.

Yes. If you don't want to fuss with it at all, I'd recommend a cartomizer model like the Kr808D-1, or a 510 with a cartomizer.

I see (from your sig) you went with the 808? Any particular reasons?
Also, what about the eGo/tornado? I think it looks cool. Do you know anything about it?

    Thanks in advance!

I wanted something that looked moderately like a cigarette, and with good performance. The 510 and the Kr808 are basically the best 2 in that category.

I wound up going with the Kr808 because it has longer battery life than the 510, and cartomizers come as standard. I wanted cartomizers because I didn't want to fuss with constant re-filling or dripping. You can get cartomizers for the 510, but most kits come with separate atomizers and carts. I'm broke, so I didn't want to have to buy extra stuff for a while.

The eGo is also well-loved here. You'll get really good battery life (as in all day) and vapor production out of it. It comes with a 510 port as standard, but you can buy adapters.

Sorry, but what does a 510 port mean? Where can I find information comparing these three devices? I am currently searching threads and finding bits and pieces of info here and there, but you've been very helpful. thank you Mistress.

It means the eGo battery is designed to take a 510 atomizer or cartomizer. An eGo is basically a big 510 battery.

And here's a really good comparative look at the Kr808 and the 510:

P.S. The manual Kr8's used to have issues with the manual button which, as I understand, has now been dealt with. I haven't had any issues with mine anyway.

Great link! Did you ever consider an automatic before you decided upon the manual? I don't even know if the Kr8 comes in Auto.

Also, since you mentioned the manual button issue, what site did you use to order your Kr8. I assume they sell quality products since you seem happy with your purchase. Do you also know a good place where I can purchase a sample pack of nicotine-free flavored liquids?

Yes, I considered the auto. But you have to take "primer puffs" to get it going, and as I mentioned, I am a serious penny pincher. I don't want to waste juice.

Also, some auto's can sometimes be set off by noise or vibration. I don't know if this is a problem with the Kr8 auto's specifically, but I figured I wouldn't find out. I don't mind pressing a button.

I got mine from Electro Nic Stix, and I was very happy with the customer service, and the quality of the stuff I got. The kit was $35.

However, I think the manual button problem with Kr8's was dealt with across the board, since they all come from the same place.

I don't know of any "variety pack" of carto's, sorry. But you may be able to buy sample bottle variety packs of e-liquid if you're willing to fill blanks.

I'm a 0 nic vaper. Virtually all kits come with the choice of generic Marlboro or Menthol flavored carts/cartos. However you can basically find any flavor you like prefilled. FreedomSmokeUSA will even fill your carts if you send them to them.

Although I have become a dripper, most vendors that sell carts and cartos also offer 0 nic juice. Yes it all seems daunting but it sinks in before you realize it.

Don't sweat your first kit selection. We all wind up buying multiple models and mods for variety. If you just hate the type you select, you can always sell it in the classified section.

Welcome to ECF and the world of vaping. :vapor:
