Hi,

I just discovered vaping a couple of weeks ago and went along and bought an 808 starter kit from V2cigs. I'm really pleasd with the experience so far but the batts don't last long enough and being a (former) heavy smoker of analogs, I'm looking for a stronger TH, more vapor etc. I've done a lot of searching, reading, comparing and pondering about my next step and thanks to this excellent forum I have a pretty good idea about what to get but I need help with the final decision.

First of all, I'm dead set on the cartomizer route and on making the transition to a 501-based system. Secondly, I'm on a budget (ofc) but I'd rather pay a few bucks more to get a hassle-free system than buy low quality crap that will give up on me.

So, I've boiled it down to two alternatives that might suit me.
  1. e-Power from CCV
    • PROS:
      • Good bundle, value for money
      • Very highly recommended seller
      • Uses standard batteries and I have an advanced "smart" charger for Li-Ion already
      • Comes upgraded with the new switch assembly
    • CONS:
      • Build quality is reported to be somewhat low with crude threads etc
      • Large form factor
  2. 650 mAh V.V. Dual Coil from HC
    • PROS:
      • Variabe Voltage
      • Good bundle
      • Well recommended seller
      • Smaller form factor (?)
    • CONS:
      • No-Name
      • Proprietary batteries
      • Unknown quality (I have found no reviews)
      • Seller has had some problems with PayPal payments
      • Some customers have commented the shipment taking long time, not being traceable etc
I'm leaning towards the e-Power at the moment but I would really value some input from more experienced vapers before placing my order.

Thanks in advance!

I don't have vv yet... but IMO you can't go wrong with a 3.7v 1100mha KGO (I got mine from Hoosier E-Cig Supply KGO 1100 mAh 2 battery kit but other places sell it too). It's a great size and value, generally rated better than ego but same style, well made, nice long charge. I'm seriously tickled pink with them(two in a kit), the "titanium" finish is really nice! LOTS of vapor... =)
So far I've been dripping it, but I hear that with it's slightly stronger battery that the LR cartos really kick on it.

To test my likes of higher voltage I think I'm going to get a 5v pass through to keep at my computer before I spend on mods and vv mod options.

Just ordered some parts from madvapes myself. Building a 3.7 bottom feeder to see if I like the method enough to build a VV one. I've been using a VV box mod I got from Kalamazoo Vapor Shop and I love the thing. Just don't like topping off my juice every ten minutes. I've found that I like my VV the most over all of the other mods I've used because it works with all of my cartos and attys. I've got a variety of different ohm products and being able to use them all on the same PV is very convenient.

I recently just got my VV box mod. And I do think they're overrated, imho. I don't use it in higher voltages because most of the cartos I have range from 1.5 to 2 ohms/dual coils or not. I don't even attempt to set it that high with those kinds of resistances. You don't need more than 3.7V for those. And these are the most common ohm ratings vendors sell. It's probably an advantage to have a VV mod around IF higher resistance cartos means cheaper.

The battery life is not any better than an Ego considering it requires two 14500. (Maybe I don't have those varicool types. But I don't think it will make a lot of difference.) I should have just bought two 2AA box 14500 mods. I prefer portable ones that fit in the palm of my hand. Huge ones don't attract me no matter how huge the battery life is. I'd rather buy plenty of batteries and switch them around than carry huge PVs.

;-)
