I've been smoke free for almost 9 months. My advice to you is to buy the best equipment you can afford NOW. I didn't waste too much time with different mods but would have been better off buying my Provari and Reo day one. Good luck.

Yep a big battery mod would have saved me bundles of money and frustration if I had simply got one right away.

I think your right, 18650. I'm burning through the charge on these KGO's. Are they already holding less charge? I've only had the two batteries a week! I used one up today before the other one was fully charged. Could be I'm having a problem with my Ego Mega Dual Coil tanks. Maybe I should stay with single coil.

I think I want a mod because I can see the cost of batteries being a real issue. I'm still so confused about everything. Can anyone tell me what is the absolute best battery to get? Best meaning, stays charged a long time, cost-effectiveness, replacement cost, how long they last. I "think" I'm happy with the voltage the KGO puts out (3.7-4.0) but haven't tried anything else.

I'm really enjoying vaping and already ordered flavors to make my own e-liquid. The next step is to figure out the best mod to get before I have to replace my existing ones. I read the guide to mods - useful - but out-dated (2010). I'm not too concerned with how to looks, I want performance and ease of use because I don't get the electrical stuff at all.

Can mods be upgraded when the come out with better stuff? It seems like the mod is just a case for batteries. Is there a mod that I can use all types of batteries in?

Using Smok Tech 1.7 XL single coil cartos aka The Resurrector on my Kgo and even when chain vaping I get at least 9? hrs. Duals are too hard on the Kgo. Would never go back to any other carto on my 3.7 PVs. I've found 9 times out of ten the problem is with the carto/ delivery system. Here's the cheapest vendor with free shipping- 5 packs or 15 packs:

Good Luck.

My KGO battery performance, day one new unit Aug. 13, 2012:

Aug. 25, 2012:
Battery one: 5 hour charge time, lasted 4 hrs. 22 mins
Battery 2: 4 hr 43 min charge time, lasted 3 hrs, 40 min.

Heavy use, almost chain vaping at times. No all day vaping, not even close. Disappointed. Is this normal?

I use the non flanged carto and punch my own with nail and hammer- one hole 2.5 mm- because I find the pre punched cartos are far too expensive. You can also buy a 1/4" saddle valve from Lowes. Have vaped 60/ 40 and 70/ 30 PG/ VG. Can't remember what tank I have but it's a Dual Coil.
Cartos are lasting before tight draw starts:
with light juice= 2 weeks (80-90 ml)
with dark juice= 1 week (50-60 ml)
I would buy a 5 pack of unflanged 1.7 cartos and see if you like it. Also seeing as you are chain vaping have you considered upping your nic level. I began at 36 mg. Another issue is we all chain vaped when we first began as many toxins and alkoids from tobacco are not being replaced by the nicotine. I would wait awhile but, if things don't improve, you may want to consider WTA:

The Best of Luck to You.

Edit: Someone else that had the same issue:
"I was using smoktech 1.7 ohm err maybe 1.5 ohm dual coils on a standard ego batt...3.4 volts and i thought they worked great just drained the batt fast....now i have some smoktech singlecoils ( ressurectors ) that kick ......."

Just looked again, I don't think the resurrectors will work with my Smoktech DCT 2.5 Clear tank (Ego). I need the kind with the flange bottom so it doesn't pull out of the tank. But I could use them alone.

I have a saddle valve and punched some long cartos that came with my KGO. It's real easy to pull out the carto from the top if its missing the flange. Been having leakage issues, too. I've emailed a couple shops about some Smoktech single coils punched w/ the flange. One emailed and said he didn't know if they'd fit my tank. I thought they were all the same diameter? So confusing. I will try the resurrectors just as a carto.
