Thank you! I didn't get the use of the word cartomizer or the difference between cartridge and cartomizer. Knowing what the number is helps too.

If it contains the heating element and the juice in the same one piece unit, it's a cartomizer. Companies call them "cartridges" because it's more intuitive for new people. A cartridge contains only juice. Some pre-filled cartomizers are refillable. Most are not. Companies make their money by selling you cartomizers because no other cartomizer will fit. You become dependent on them for replacements and refills if you use an e-cig that doesn't take a standard 510 or other standardized, refillable cartomizer.

Ok on Eliquidstore I picked out two 10 15ml flavors that look good -- flue cured and havana. Next I put the cheapest starter kit in my cart - it comes with two cartridges. Now the next part I don't understand, and maybe one of you experts who have been so heplful could go look at their site and tell me -- will I be able to refill the 2 cartomizers in the start kit or do I need to buy a special empty type and fill it?

Ok I'll drop them an email. What if I went with the "Joye 510 Electronic Cigarette Deluxe Starter Kit" at $39.99 which has:
Atomizer (2)
180mAh Lithium rechargeable battery (2)
100-240V AC charger
Manual (English)
Standard cartridges (5)
Manual kit with push button to start atomizer

Since it comes with a 15ml bottle, I think it'd be safe to assume the "standard cartridges" refillable?

Those cartridges are definitely refillable, but the kit is a cigarette look-alike with really small batteries. If that's what you are after ok, but realize you'll probably go through a couple batteries a day will need to stay on top of charging. The Ego-C kit provides batteries with three time the capacity and tanks that will probably hold considerably more juice. The overal form factor of the Ego-C is also much more cigar-like.

Great, thanks for all your input it's been helpful! It does look like the Ego-C would be the ideal to lounge on the deck with. I'm not a heavy smoker (like I said I quit 7 years ago) it's the dipping I need to stop. So I would use it sporadically but in large amounts at a go. I could recharge in between, which would allow me to use the cheaper Joye 510. In fact the panther tank kit, at 29.99, looks like the cheapest way I can get refillables and also the 510 standard.
That puts me to $58 for all I need. Shipping will no doubt be $25 or more :(

You really should go back to the link with the e-Power. Those little batteries are what I started with and you will be looking to upgrade within a month. I can virtually guarantee it. I ended up amassing 6 batteries in the first month just to keep them from dying on me when I was away from a charger for more than a few hours. The cartridges they come with are useless. They are a remnant and totally obsolete, replaced by cartomizers. You can use cartomizers with the little batteries, but you have to stick to higher resistance because the batteries can't handle the current draw. This will mean the vapor production will suffer in a major way.

The eGo-C is o.k., but to use it as it was designed, you have to get special atomizers and cones. Again, not a good idea in your situation where shipping costs are an issue. Also, the eGo is disposable. When the battery wears out, you throw it away. Would you buy a disposable flashlight that you had to use every day?

The e-Power comes with two 1050mah batteries. They can handle the kind of cartomizer that will give you the best vapor production. 1050mah batteries cost $5, as opposed to the $15-20 it costs to replace an eGo battery.

On the e-power site, I don't see any place for selection of liquids to add to my order. Am I looking in the wrong place? can someone link me? I know I can use the americaneliqiuds place for that havana flavor, but like I mentioned I am trying to keep shipping down by ordering from one site.

Edit: Wow shipping is a bargain at e-power, even to Hawaii...now if I could just find their liquids...

You should still get additional cartomizers. A cartomizer should last at least a week or two, but while you're new, you may let one get too dry and if that happens, it will burn and be ruined. So figure on trashing a couple while you get the feel for when to top off the juice. You'll be able to tell when it's time to top off because the vapor will start to thin out.

Pick a juice for your free bottle, but for the best tobacco flavors, including cigars, the site flyer mentioned would be a better choice. I suggest getting small bottle until you find one or two that your really like. Before you fill a cartomizer with an unknown flavor, test it out with the atomizer that comes with your kit.

Be sure to get a couple of Drip Tips. They are cheap and you will need them to use with an atomizer to test juice and on the end of your cartomizers so you don't have to pull the rubber plug each time you top one off. I don't know if they include drip tips in the kit, but if you order a "bundle" of 15 cartomizers, they throw in a free one.

They say to specify strength and flavor in the notes. I dont see any separate page for juice. Is there something in the checkout area? I wouldn't depend on one flavor and one bottle anyway. You're going to have to order juice from somewhere else if you want a reasonalbe chance of finding the flavor you really want.

I don't think they're selling juice separately. They are a small vendor. Leave a note for Andrew in the checkout section. Tell him what you're looking for in terms of flavors. Do you know what strength of nicotine to order? Andrew will contact you if he doesn't have exactly what you want. They are real good that way. Personal service is what they're all about. You could even just call him and he'll talk to you about any special stuff you want with your order. Or ask him to email you or call you.

Haven't gotten that far on checout yet, I need to go back and add cartomizers. I don't know which is the correcct one to get for this --
510 SMOKTECH C.C.V. XL LR 1.7ohm STAINLESS STEEL (THE RESURRECTOR)
$7.80
OR
510 BOGE STANDARD STAINLESS STEEL 3.0 ohm CARTOMISERS
$7.20

You want the Ressurrectors 1.7ohm or the Boge 2ohm cartos. Not the 3ohm. The finish is up to you. The 1.7ohm will be a little warmer of vapor than the 2ohm. It's really best to get both so you can find out which ones you like best. They are both good so neither one will go to waste.

Ok thanks a lot. I'm still new to this so the words don't all make sense, but they will when it arrives. I've decided since e-power's shipping is free, I will hold off on extra cartomizers now and just use the 5 resurrectors it comes with, since I can easily place a new order and I'm really trying to keep costs down (saving my teeth is worth the investment of course...) I'm still not sure what the drip tip does. I can get needles and syringes too if that's needed.

Edit: If anyone has a coupon code for e-power, post it real qquick please! I already tried ecf5off or something similar.

You won't need needles and syringes. Go to youtube and look up filling cartomizers with the "condom method". It doesn't involve condoms, of course.

During the course of use, you will need to periodically drip a few drops into your cartomizer so it stays wet. Never let it dry out. This is called topping off. With a drip tip, you can drip straight through into the cartomizer. Tilt it to avoid the hole in the center of the carto and let the juice drip down the side of the carto into the absorbent filler.

With a drip tip, you won't have to pry the rubber plug out of the cartomizer every time you want to top off. Also, a drip tip is a lot more comfortable than puffing on the end of a cartomizer.

A drip tip is also used with the atomizers that come with your kit. The atomizers have no filler or juice delivery method. You drip a few drops straight into the atomizer, through the drip tip, in order to test juice so that you don't use up a cartomizer with a juice you don't even like.
