I have tried searching the forums to see if my question was already answered but could not find anything. Forgive me if I overlooked a post that would help me and please kindly link me to any info that will save yourself some typing time.

I have been lurking on this forum for about a year now. I found out about e-cigarettes through one of the kiosks for "SmokingAnywhere" at a local mall. I like to think I am a fairly savvy shopper, so instead of biting their bait and making an impulse buy, I did my research and found this site. I looked and looked and looked at all of the various topics and threads about what all the different models and specs were for the hardware offered by so many different manufacturers, but not only was I too poor at the time to afford the initial investment, I was too confused to make an informed decision. I was also a bit timid about asking the blatantly impossible question, "What should I start with?"

Fast forward to today. My employer recently began a full out anti-smoking campaign. No smoking at the workplace AT ALL and if you do not sign a legal affidavit swearing that you are smoke free (lying on such will cause you to lose your job - in this economy?? Come on!) you will be charged $25 per paycheck to offset the rising costs to our HMO for our employees who continue to risk their health by smoking. I have just gotten into a position financially where I could afford to smoke without denying myself the basic pleasures of life and was hoping I could enjoy it for a couple years more before biting the bullet and quitting. Man, was I mistaken!

So, I tried it the honest way. I didn't want to quit and so I knew it would be nearly impossible to do so the normal way. I also didn't want to spend an extra $25 per paycheck for a very enjoyable habit. I went to my doctor and got a prescription for Chantix and the Nicotrol inhaler. Using these, I was able to cut my smoking down from a pack a day to 5-8 cigarettes per day. But the side effects from the Chantix, dear me. I can't stand it. I get depressed and aggressive and ANGRY. I went off on my own mother because I went for a bowl of cereal and there was no milk. I hope I don't have to say it, but I will anyways, THIS IS NOT THE KIND OF PERSON I AM!!!

I am usually so laid back and roll with the punches. I couldn't believe that I was acting this way. I didn't even realize it when I was aggressing. My sister finally sucked it up and told me what was going on and that was when I realized that the Chantix wasn't for me unless I was willing to "pill myself up" to avoid the side effects. I don't like to be more medically altered unless absolutely necessary. I had a friend at work who told me that his daughter had ordered an e-cigarette but didn't like it and since her mom didn't like it either, she was willing to sell it at a decent price.

So, today, I bought a SmokeAssist e-cig for $50. It came with 6 0mg non-nicotine carts and the usb charger. I would have come back here and done more research and possibly waited for something to come through the mail, but I felt as though I was hanging off a cliff by my fingernails and had only the one hope. I only have a week off on term leave thanks to my doctor's note and my frugality as far as taking off time from work goes. It was a slightly used unit (she said she paid $100 and had only used 2 carts herself and her mom had used 1 and a half carts when she tried it) and I may have been screwed on the price, but right now, I don't care. I have my tax return coming in a couple of weeks and can upgrade then. My mom tried mine and liked it and would like to use it at 0mg when I can upgrade myself to a better model.

That's the back story. Sorry for the length. On to the questions!

1. I want to order carts for my new toy, what do I order? I don't know what brand or anything to look for, what will work with this model? I'd like a choice in flavors as well as strengths of nicotine if possible.

2. Are the SmokeAssist e-cigs as bad as the SmokingEverywhere e-cigs? If so, is it possible to order 3rd party batteries/vaporizer parts to fix it when/if it breaks? If so, from whom?

3. Is it possible to refill the carts on this brand? If so, I will watch all the videos and read all the tutorials for the details, but what specs for which cart should I use?

Looking at the SmokeAssist website, there doesn't seem to be an option to order carts. It appears to be that you can only order the e-cig for free by subscribing to an automatic refill setup where they charge you $60/month for 40 carts - which sounds like a major ripoff compared to many other suppliers. If you don't purchase your e-cig through them, you won't get refills. At least I missed out on the scam part of the deal?

I feel I was forced to this decision, but within a month or so I will be able to make a better informed decision. I just wanna use this to get by with for now and pass it on to my mom when I have a better model with (possibly?) more options for refills. Yes it was a rash decision, but I have not been exactly "level" mentally for a couple weeks now. When I heard that this girl had an e-cig I could buy for cheap, I jumped at it. Can you honestly blame me?

If I can do DIY with this model, it would be worth the time. If I can buy prefilled carts at a decent price, that will work for the immediate time being until I can figure out the rest.

I appreciate the help of anyone and everyone who can help me in the slightest with these questions. I just wanna feel ok and not mad or sad. I don't wanna pay extra money and honestly, if I can be happy with an e-cig, I think that is the best route for me. Thanks so much guys for your time and energy. I look forward to your replies.

Thanks @ wireguy, I think I found the list of suppliers

Is this what you were talking about?

E-Cigarette Forum > Buying & Selling > E Cigarette Suppliers Forum> Sticky : General list of suppliers (posted by SmokeyJoe)

(It won't let me post the link yet :( )

Is there any particular model number of e-cig refill that is compatible with the SmokeAssist brand that I should be looking for? I'm sorry to have so many questions, but I couldn't really find anything useful about the brand on this site. Every other link on google (yes, I tried to avoid annoying you guys before I started asking questions!) seems to be some ad site that doesn't tell me anything.

The suppliers list for US customers is 59 companies long (on the link I am looking at) and that is quite a daunting task when you don't even know what you are trying to buy :/

Is this brand even refillable?

I am going through the list as best as I can while I wait for replies, but I obviously don't want to waste money on something that won't work with my unit. If someone could give me a model number or something or if this brand is refillable, which technique is best to refill it with so I could look into that, it would be most appreciated.

I mostly need compatibility details. I know that whether or not you like one companies products over another is a personal decision based on taste. I just need to know what I can put into this unit that will work for now. That will make searching this list of 59 companies that much easier.

Thats the direct link - but it lists supplier by name and not by product.
First you'll need to identify your kind of PV although I've not heard of your model by name you might be able to identify by site if you look at http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...pdated-pictures-most-common-e-cig-models.html
Once (IF!) you know what it is you can look up who does 'bits' for it although tbh if I were you and I couldn't identify this model I'd just buy a new one and start over.

I don't know what model the one you have is. I have seen advertisements for it, but I haven't seen one up close to tell what it 'really' is. I hope someone on here has and can chime in for you.

I am sure - regardless of what model it really is - that you can refill the cartridges with e-liquid from any supplier! I would suggest that you give that a try first while you are busy trying to decide if you want to stick with the model you have or to change to a different model. There are a lot of good liquid suppliers out there. I have dealt with several... LiteCigUSA carries basic liquid at a good price. My Freedom Smokes sells custom liquid at good prices. Both of them have good customer service.

Read Wonderful World of Vaping! It will answer bunches of your questions. Take the time to read as much of this forum as you can. I really will be worth it in the end.

Good luck!

:)

I actually took pics of the model I have as it looks taken apart and put them on a photobucket account, but I cannot post them up here until I have made 15 posts. Any threads that I may spam just so I can post a silly picture of my unit?? >.<

In the list of pics of PV's you linked me to, the model it looks like the most once assembled is the KR808. Disassembled, it has what I believe is called an "exposed wick" on the vaporizer part. It is a little metal triangle. The cartridge makes up the "filter" part of the PV, the actual vaporizer appears to be separate from the cartridge. The vaporizer unscrews from the battery. The filter looking cart has a bit of foil in one end. You put it on to the rest of the PV by pushing it on until it is firmly seated. To remove the cart, you just pull it off. I have been playing with it all afternoon and it appears to be that you can remove the cart more than once without spilling any liquid. This leads me to believe that there is cotton or something in there holding in the liquid that will be vaporized.

I'm sorry if this doesn't help much. If anyone wants me to try to PM them the links to the two photos, let me know and I will try. Cannot guarantee anything tho :(

Thanks @ pywackit and Guineahill :)

Now that I have something to call it by, hopefully my life will be easier xD

One last question: Which method of refill do you recommend the most? Syringe or what? I know there are several, so I guess whichever is most newb friendly will do for now. I just need to know what it is called, I know there are tons of helpful videos and how to's out there!

I had read the wonderful world of vaping before I posted this, it was just so much info and I honestly had no clue what I was looking for. I got a lot of knowledge but didn't know how to apply it yet. Hopefully, I will be able to get along on my own for a bit before I need my hand held anymore lol!

Ooh, also, is there any way to empty a cart in order to refill it (besides vaping it to death)? I don't have much of a use for 0mg nicotine carts at this time and am not sure how to empty them so I can put in what I need.

To refill empty carts, take something like a paperclip straighten one end push it up threw the whole on the end you draw on, the little inside cart will pop out, pull out the stuffing clean all the bits in dish soap ( inner/outer cart and stuffing) making sure to get as much of the foil off the inner cart that you can, rinse, dry and your ready to refill. There are different ways to to refill, some great video on this site!

I pop out the inner cart and the filler using a straightened paperclip also. But I don't use soap to clean mine... just hot water. And some plain vodka rarely when needed. Then dry by pressing between bits of paper towel or tissue. Then I fill up the empty inner cart about three fourths of the way, put the filler back in, push it down, pull it up, and drip in another drop or two.

Sounds kind of confusing, but it becomes second nature quickly.

I do use a syringe when I refill my Kr8 cartomizers... but they hold a lot more than the little inner carts of a 401 type. Do get as much of the foil off as you can. Oh... you can replace the filler if it gets icky also!

:)

Thanks so much for all of your help guys! I will be looking into the refill liquids tomorrow. If I come across any further questions, I'll make sure I am as concise as possible :) I appreciate all of you guys for being so patient with a person who had almost no clue what they were dealing with at the beginning! Hopefully, I won't have to bug you guys much more tho... Never know!

Thanks tons! :D Have a great night ^^
