Hello everyone,

I've been having a rough time while deployed and in the past with smoking. I read a little and wanted something cheap and as close to a cig as possible so I've purchased an itaste mvp and a sampler pack from pinkspotvapors. I'm kind of curious on how much I'll like the mixed flavors and stuff compared to the taste of a regular cig. But, hopefully in a few weeks I'll be tobacco free!

Congratulations on taking the first 'big step' Reesie and I wish you the best of luck in finding your vaping Nirvana...

... Hang in there, you WILL find it. :smokie:

You will be very surprised at how much you won't like the cig-a-like flavors. nearly everyone starts with a tobacco like flavor in the start.. and soon that is the least used and least preferred. I still have some of my initial 5ML sample of Cowboy Killer here and just hate the thought of using it! There are so so many awesome flavors out there and you will be amazed!! :)

Welcome and vape on!!

Congrats! Once you get a setup that you like, and a good place to get juices, it's easier than you think. I never thought I would be satisfied with vaping, because it tastes and feels different, but I've been at it for 3 months now, and can't ever see myself going back again. I've got a setup that's reliable, and my MBV juices and I'm all set!

Hi, Reesie, and welcome to ECF!

Uh, the MVP is a box mod. Kinda like a pack of smokes in your pocket, but not at all like a cig when you vape it! But it's a great device.

Sampler's are a good way to go, if you can't get to a B&M with a vape bar. As mentioned, don't limit yourself to "tobacco" type flavors, there's lots of good stuff that might surprise you.

The biggest hurdle will be the flavors, and the nic level. Once you get those dialed in to your satisfaction, it's going to be clear sailing!

And do get backups. At least two of everything - batteries, toppers, chargers. A real bummer if you can't vape, once you're into it!

Yeah, I'm definitly thinking about getting a back up if this is something I can do to replace cigs. I ordered my samples with 6mg of nicotine and after reading I'm wondering if that's enough... I smoke between 1/2 a pack to 3/4 a day. I ordered some Pink Spot, Rip tide, Swagger, Black Mamba "On the Rocks", Blue Raz Cotton Candy, and Frozen Lime Drop. I'm also curious if they're liquids really taste like alcoholic drinks, which would be nice.

Hard to say if they taste like their names - it's always a crap shoot!

Many B&Ms (Brick & Mortar store, vs. online) are set up to let you taste test their flavors. Lots of (usually) clearos or cartos prefilled with different flavors, and you can try before your buy. A good way to narrow the field, although you will likely pay more if you get them there. Conversely, if they're not too far out of line on prices, nice to encourage the local business folk.

6 mg may be a bit light, but you can always chain vape. Many of us started at 18. Even that wasn't enough for me (1 1/2 pad equivalent of hand rolled ribbon cut pipe tobacco.... for 45+ years!), so I went to 24 and haven't looked back. Down to 18 for the last several months. If the 6 doesn't cut it, try 18 first. And, if the flavors are the same (or might taste good blended!), you can mix equal amounts of 6 and 18 to get 12. (Or try 24, which may be too strong, and mix to get 15... and so on.)

And if you can't quickly get the right nic level, vape as much as you want, smoke if you need, and keep reminding yourself of the ones you're NOT smoking. For many, it's a process, not flipping a switch.

I started with 18mg and pretty quickly stepped down to 12mg, previously smoked about a pack a day. I also kind of transitioned into vaping full time, kept smoking along with vaping until the vaping just appealed to me more than the analogs. Don't be too hard on yourself if it doesn't happen overnight.

Welcome to the forum. Great source and support and knowledge. The MVP 2 is a terrific device, just ordered one myself. As for juices, the better the quality of the juices that I am getting as I am learning, the better the experience. I never vaped tobacco flavors, wanted to get away from that. I started with 18mg/L and am now down to 10-12 mg/L Good luck, be safe and have fun!

My wife bought a couple of cig-a-likes to start, they never took off with either of us. Boiled down - they were a poor simulation. Ended up in the junk drawer in VERY short order.

I got a liquid e-cig (PV), my last cigarette was 20 minutes after I got it, on the way home from the vape shop. Haven't touched another one, in spite of having my last pack and a lighter within arm's reach at all times. Barely think of it.

Like most people, I started with a tobacco flavor, but going in person to a vape shop gives the advantage of being able to sample the flavors, and I got a Black & Mild rendition that was ok, didn't float my boat at first, but once the flavor developed after a couple of days it got AWESOME! It is my go-to daily vape flavor now, and I'd do some extreme Mission Impossible acrobatics to get my hands on their recipe so I can make my own!

Ditch the cig-a-like, get yourself a good quality PV and kick the habit for good!

I'm really hoping it will have that affect on me. I love smoking and hate it at the same time... so hopefully vaping with the MVP feels close to actually smoking. I had a coworker smoking blu e-cigs at work and wasn't really interested, it seemed like they were kinda of weak. I may be wrong, it was just my impression. Which lead me to buy a MVP after some youtube and reading, plus I thought it was pretty cheap. Now, I'm reading about the FDA ban stuff...

I'm almost certain it's been mentioned, but you probably want to get a higher nic content, than the original order you placed, specially if you thought the blu was weak.
If they haven't packaged your order and shipped it, you may be able to still change it, I started on 24mg...and am pretty much settled on 12mg (for nic content)

Then pick something interesting with a higher nicotine level.

Seriously, Vaping is under threat, EVERYONE ON ECF should be a member of CASAA, they are the ones leading the fight...

rant over...

I would suggest, IMHO, to hover around 12-18 MG (1.2-1.8%) to start. It's easier to drop a couple mg/ml than to suffer with a light juice.

We X-Smokers get a little cranky when we're not getting our recommended daily allowance... It's kinda like Nic-Dieting...

It was already shipped yesterday unfortunately. I could buy some nicotine and add it right?

Not something you want to do right off the bat. Too high a level, and you'd be in trouble. Way too high a level, and you'd be, well, dead. In high concentrations, it is a poison, after all. In our normal concentrations, it's a stimulant.

Check here to see if there are any B&Ms within reach:
Electric Cigarette|Eliquid|Supplies|Electronic Cigarette|Ejuice|Smokeless|Vapor Search USA

or just google something like "ecig <location>". Not all are listed at Vaporsearch.

Save adjusting nic levels until you're a bit more experienced, we'd hate to lose you now that we've got you! :)

Right on, I signed up and already wrote my congressman. I was hoping that worst case senario I could just vape more if the nicotine was too low. I'll just order a few more bottles with 18 mg then. Thanks for the link.

Right on Brotha! I annoy the hell out of my Congressman/state reps with emails at every call to action.

Are you ordering duplicate flavors at higher nic? That would be the way to go, if 18 is too high and too peppery, harsh throat-hit, cut it down with the 6 and you should be golden! no wasted juice.
