Hi,
After smoking for 40 years (about 1 pack a day) I decided to take the plunge and try an electronic cig. I ordered a RN 4081 Super Cigarette from Electronic Ash. It came in the mail yesterday. So far I am not too pleased and am hoping the experts here can help. I hace spent some time reading this forum (I had no idea there was so much information about electronic cigarettes).
My biggest problem is lack of consistant vapor. Sometimes I get a good hit while other times I get nothing. I understand it will take time to master this but perhaps someone can give me a few pointers. Here are a few questions that I have.
1. What modifications or upgrade parts should I buy to imporve vapor production.
2. I will buy eliquid for filling my cartridges. Is there any difference between blank cartridges. If so, what ones should I buy.
I want to kick the analog habit even if I need to purchase another style of electronic cig. I don't care about the cost. Should I buy another style.
I am grateful for any pointers or suggestions you may have.
Thanks

I have the RN4081, and the road to happy vaping is a cartomizer. Cartomizers contain an atomizer and cartridge in one, and hold a ton more fluid. Cartridges I've found tend to "dry up" and need topping off every five drags or so, while carts can last quite a lot longer. Also, as a note, pre filled stock cartomizers tend to taste well, bleh...... you are better off with blanks and filling with your choice of juice.

Cartomizers turned my 4081 from "eh"...... to my preferred e cig.

I get my cartomizers from aquavapor, however there's a ton of places that sell them online.

Welcome to ECF! If you haven't looked at the stickies at the top of the new member page, check out Mistress Nomad's videos. I haven't used the model you have, so I can't tell you about that specific model. I have made a slow progression from my first kit, a dse901, to an eGo, which I use daily, and a Saber Touch mod that I use at home. If you get a set with a 510 atomizer, which is a common size, there are blank cartridges available that are round or whistle-tipped. You can use blue foam filler too, instead of the white stuff.

Finding this forum was the best thing for me, I had no idea what most of this stuff even was six months ago. There is a learning curve with all this, I bought juice and hardware I liked, and some I didn't like. It's taken me five months to find what works for me, so don't get discouraged. It can be overwhelming at first, but I bought my first kit AND my last pack of cigarettes on August 6, 2010, so this can definitely work for you.

Good luck!

Welcome and good for you for trying to quit.

You have an auto, early (been around for a while) model. The majority of vapers use manual (small button) models because they provide more consistency, more control by the user and warmer vapor than the auto batteries that require you to learn to do the "starter puff" routine. Plus auto batteries can easily get liquid in the switch that will kill them, where as manual batteries are sealed. To get closer to the "inhaled feel" of analog (cig), I would suggest a larger manual battery model. A good starter model for beginners is the eGo or Riva 510 model.

Being a pack a day smoker, I would also strongly suggest starting out with 24mg nicotine strength e-liquid then adusting it up or down over time depending on your personal needs.

If you really take to vaping, I would suggest you look at some of the 5 volt battery models or variable volt battery models which provide the most consistent, best vaping experience, overall.

Here are a few reputable sites that provide the eGo 510 model. There are many good supplier sites on this forum to check out, however and you may want to look at several of them:

Welcome to the forum!
I have attempted to help a few folks get away from smoking analogs and start vaping. I took to it so easily, after 35 years of 1-2 packs a day, that I really thought anyone could do it. I use a Joy-e mega battery with standard 510 attys and a direct drip tip. This works very well for me 95% of the time, I do use a mega atty and cartridge if driving some distance.

The folks I mentioned above have seen me through the window,in a local bar, huffing away, as they are standing outside in the rain smoking analogs - many have asked questions about what it is, how it works etc.... a few folks have purchased setups similar to mine (large battery - 510 type atty) and are very happy with their purchase - a number of them have quit analogs completely.

Other folks have gone the "I found this awesome kit at the tobacco store for $25 - and it looks just like a real cigarette - the tip glows" I think without a doubt, you get what you pay for. I know money is tight for alot of folks, but you need to buy quality equipment, from reputable sources. (I buy most kit from Totally Wicked, but that's just me....) If they are spending the money on expensive analogs, they can most likely afford to buy the quality stuff to replace analogs.

The folks that saved so much money on their cheap stuff, turn around and complain to ME about that fact that the batteries don't last, and their stuff tastes like crap....I just smile and start the explanations all over again....maybe they will figure it out eventually...

Don't give up, just keep at it - you will get there....:vapor:

Hi Nat Gas!

I'm still rather new at this as well, but I'll share my rather limited experiences with you so far. I got my first PV, a Joye eGo, last month and have been pleased with the results so far. It is manual, uses cartridges and the battery lasts for a while. (I am still smoking analogs but have cut back considerably and I am going to try going without one altogether today.) I haven't noticed problems with consistency, though I do need to top off regularly.

I find myself wanting a bit more vapour, so I suspect the 100% PG I have is not the best for me. My next juice order is probably going to be 10-20% VG so I get a bit more of the vapour while keeping the throat hit. I also want to try that blue foam stuff. Will it work? I hope so, but all my purchases have been made according to the recommendations and reviews I found in this forum as this is all new to me. It's all going to be hit or miss as to what works. The same has held true with you, but fortunately you found this forum and have decided to give PVs another chance. :)

There are some good deals going on for some Joye and Riva starter kits, especially in the first link wv2win provided. Add the 20% discount on the order and it's not a bad price to try a new model. (for fellow Canadians reading this they do discrete shipping. I didn't know to ask about that when I ordered and was relieved when I saw how it was packaged when it came in. But always ask first just to be sure!)
