I was a 3 pack a day smoker. I started with the kr808 model and then bought a go go.
(I still carry both of them) The thing with the kr8's is, I needed 4 batteries to make it through the day, plus juice.
Now I just bring both to work and top off as needed during the day. Seems to be working for me, although I just bring the kr8's as a different flavor.
Good luck with whatever you choose!

Yes, the smaller batts/minis only last 1 hour or so, why heavier vapers like me get bigger batts. It's a technological limitation, same reason electric cars can't get that far...batts. The most a smaller/cig size batt will do is about 2 hours, the megas/XLs. You can carry and charge a bunch of those, get a PCC for in a pinch, or get bigger batts.

there are pcc's or portable charging cases that can charge 1 or 2 batteries, and hold cartos joose ect...if you are around a computer or anything with a usb you may also want to look into a passthru... no batts just pure vaping power...and of course if you chain smoke, you most likely will chain vape, which a bigger type batt may serve your needs... all in all though it comes down to what feels right to you

The longest battery life you will find in a decent slim mini is around 380mah (and I strongly recommend manual batteries because they are much harder to damage or kill with juices leaks, won't turn on accidentally from wind or vibration, and generally make it easier to get a good hit). Also, you can use drip tip on an atomizer to test juices on a manual battery (drip tips not recommend for auto batteries)

100mah is about 1 hour of moderate vaping w/ a standard resistance atomizer or cartomizer (slim ecigs use standard resistance. Only fat batteries and mods and use the hotter low resistance stuff)

Joye 510 Mega XL - 280mah and 128mm long w/ a carto (3 piece, plenty of blank cartos available, few prefilled cartos)

KR808D-1 standard aka 78mm manual - Vapor4Life or standard Kanger manufacturer model (280mah) and the new rubberized style SmokelessImage Volt, Halocigs G6, Bloogplanet maxxfusion (320mah). These are 120mm with a cartomizer on. Sold as a 2-piece model so there are plenty of prefilled cartomizers and a good number of blank style of carto, and on a manual battery a DSE901 atomizer and drip tip can be used for testing juices (drip tip not recommend on auto batteries but you could use DSE901 cartridges on the atomizer)

The KR808D-1 model also have an XL battery which is (I think) 380mah for the Vapor4Life/manufacturer model. I do not know if the rubberized models have an xl battery. I think these are about 2/4 to one inch longer than the standard model.

These models are all 9.2 mm diameter, a bit thicker than a cigarette but look reasonably slim in dark colors. There is nothing decent that is slimmer. These are the the most popular and supported 2-piece and 3-piece. The 3-piece 510 matches the most common upgrade path to Ego or Riva 510 or 510-threaded mods. It's a nice warm moist vape with Boge cartomizers. The 2-piece KR808D-1 is the highest voltage mini and with some cartomizers provides a hotter drier hit with more TH. I vape both.

If you carry enough charged batteries, have a charger at work, and a PCC for charging away from power, it should be possible to for slim minis to work for you if that is what you want. But if you are away from power for long periods then it would be difficult. A PCC can do limited charges.

I am researching all the alternatives and the types of e-cigs. It appears that as a heavy smoker the only choice that I have is the larger e-cig because of battery life. Is this correct? Are there extended life batteries for the smaller e-cigs:confused:

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

Also small batteries cost you more in the long run because you have to buy more of them and they can only be recharged about 200 times.

There are some good "beginner" PV's that are the size of a slim cigar. Check out the E-Power.

You will have a much better chance of transitioning to vaping with a better battery model:

you can also get a passthrough. plugs into your usb and doesnt run on batteries if you vape while on the computer

Don't plug a pass-through into your computer! It can and has for some, damaged their computer. Plus you are not getting true 5 volt vaping. Instead, get a 5 volt/2 amp USB to AC adapter and vape plugged into house current or in your car.

Hate to toot the horn of the volt again (!#&% no im not affiliated with si or any company, im construction/oil field trash lol) but I don't see what people are on about with the batt life... I vape on both batts nigh continuously with four cartos all day long. I charge them one at a time in the evening and have yet to have one run empty on me. My gf is taking to it more and more and hasn't charged her main batt in almost a week since we got them. Stark contrast to the crappy ones we had before. Those pos's needed charging 4 times a day at this use! At 78mm I think that's phenomenal. Only a darwin will tempt me away from such a kick$&$ performing lil gizmo.

Yeah. Vaping off your computer will fry out your psu, and likely your mobo, if your power supply doesn't have the extra overhead. Be careful!

A bit more info is required here. It can be safe to use a passthrough with your computer if you know it allows the required amperage. I built my computer using a newer Gigabyte mobo, which allows a 2.7A draw at the usb3 ports (even when the computer is turned off). I've heard some newer EVGA boards have higher than standard amperage also. My usb3 ports rock my battery-less passthroughs like nobody's business with proper atty/carto resistances. However, if you don't know your computer's capabilities, play it safe as wv2win stated and do not use it's ports for vaping. You will be basically flipping a coin with every drag to lose your mobo and possibly several hundred dollars worth of equipment.

Everyone is different and has different needs. I was smoking over 2 pks a day....yeah, I was a bit out of control. I considered myself a heavy smoker. I use 26 mg juice. I still am using what I started with....a Joy 510. I have to change batteries 4 times a day. It doesn't bother me to do it as I have enough of them to charge. I have ordered extras over the past year and it does come in handy.:)

You should write an encyclopedia for newbs, dormouse...it would be the most comprehensive ecig work in existence.
