Holy ....sticks. $85 is gonna be a bit outta my price range for awhile. Lmao.

Also...I don't understand the low builds. What's so great about .2 ohms? (What I read about the most in my local fb vape group). I built down to a .32 with a parallel coil. Didn't notice anything special about it. My .68 twisted tastes better. I've yet to accomplish a big cloud or anything. But I care about flavoe more anyways. Lol. Now if only I could figure out how to get a cooler vape, I'd be one happy ...... Lmao

use steam engine
Coil wrapping | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators

and look for the flame icon over on the right.
red is hot
blue is cold
green is good.

also, you might be interested in different drip tips if it's a matter of drip tip getting hot.
I use drip tip insulators myself (plus 45degree angled adapters)

Hm. Didn't know that. Clouds would be fun, of course. But without flavor, pointless IMO.

Oh, flavor doesn't totally go away at all. Its kinda of a weird trade-off, you get a dense cloud, a bit warmer vape, that has a different flavor. Imagine a chocolate flavor, like a s'more flavored vape. A warm s'more vape would be pretty good, right? Its kinda like that.
Again, its all in what you like best. I like a warm vape for some things, and a cool vape for others. Hence, my dripper for a blueberry cream @ 0.3 ohm 50 watts, and a cooler vape for my swedish fish @ 0.6 ohm 25 watts.

Aye my kayfun at a grandfatherly 1.9ohm still tastes great. That was a mistake too, build 2 aiming for 1.4 but after a few attempts gave up and was like well i will live with it fir a few months till i need to change coil lol

The drippers i aim for .5 though i must say the revolt with a .8 dual is very tasty.

Never tried twisted ir temp control, I figure since i just got a vape for every situation perfected i will wait a while before i shake things up again

I am running twisted 26 gauge @ 18 watts and it is a very cool vape but that is with a subtank wide open airflow. On my MVP 2.0, I run it @ 9.5 watts with a 1.8 ohm coil and that also is a cool vape. There is a calculator here that someone has as a signature that you could put in values and it will tell you if it will be a cool vape to a hot vape.
Hm. For some reason I was under the impression that lower wattage decreased vapor production. I just lowered mine to 18 and it's much better, temp wise, and same cloud prod. Kickassness.

That actually does make sense. I like fruity/candy flavors, and like a cool vape, whereas my fiance like creams/custards/desserts, and like a warmer vape. Haha. Never put that together. For when I'm home playing with my incoming first dripper, I'll sacrifice my cooler vape to play with the clouds. Hahah.

What, exactly, is a drip tip? The mouth piece? Because I don't even own an RDA yet. Hopefully (fingers crossed), I will tomorrow though. Lol. And I've used steam-engine to build my coils. Just started parallel/twisted coils recently, so wasn't sure how many wraps to get how many ohms, since my fiance's istick only reads .4+. Didn't notice the temp thing though. That's awesome.

Yes the part of the subtank that goes in your mouth is called the driptip.
They are usually called 510 driptips. Standard size. They come in all shapes sizes and materials.

Welp, that makes sense. Haven't had a problem with that getting hot. Just yesterday switched from the one that comes with the tank to this one:

Actually, switching to Delrin or some other synthetic tip can help cool the vape a tad. Doesn't transfer the heat as fast as stainless. Different bores - the hole through the tip - can also have an effect.

DO play around with different value and type builds. What I like may or may not be what you like :)

Even different gauge wire, wound to the same resistance, will vape differently. I like 30 in my Kayfuns and similar, built to 1.5 Ω and wicked with rayon. Performs differently than say 28 built to the same value.

So test out tips, but make yourself happy! :thumb:

Try your twisted build chimney style! Holy guacamole I love twisted wire in my Subtank mini and building it chimney style gets rid of the spitback! :D I'm a n00b here too! Congrats on Quiting the cigs and vape on!

@DavidOck
I have a drip tip called a 2puff. It's got the best of both worlds, stainless and some sort of plastic(interchangeable). But what you said about different materials is totally right. Plastic or ceramic tips keep much cooler than stainless ones. Plus they eliminate that annoying teeth pecking if your clumsy like me lol.

I'm definitely gonna be playing around with it. I put a twisted single build on the plume today between classes. Gonna try out a 26g dual single coil 8 wrap, as suggested by someone in a vape group because it's mostly for my fiance, since I'm not home as much, and dripping+driving = nono. So I need something his iStick 30w can read and power. Lol

But. I will definitely look into different drip tips and such. Never knew that the material mattered. I thought they were all just airflow/cosmetic. Oi.

I've heard of the vertical builds...but have no idea how to do one. lol

Also, thank you @Wolfenstark & @WickedSick! =D

I have been a collector of drip tips for a long time. You'll be surprised at how the shape, the material its made from, the inner bore size, etc can change your pleasure for better or worse.

For some examples of how fancy a drip tip can be, look at Drip Tip Designz.

Yup, and drip tips are the tip of the iceberg...pun kinda intended, haha. Next thing you know, you're getting new mods, colorful skins, or cover, new RTAs or RDAs, and making your device more "you"... I've been bitten by the "mod" bug big time.
But even with buying all sorts of new stuff, I've still spent loads less than I would if I still smoked...heck, they're 9.50 now in Philly

@jpbavaro
Search YouTube for rip trippers chimney style coil build and watch it. A 3mm (Stanley) screwdriver fits perfect into the air hole. And it makes it almost easier to center than a regular horizontal coil. I'll post a pic by pic tutorial on those specifically for the STM unless someone already has.
3mm inside diameter is almost a little hard to wick. I may try a smaller diameter later. But it is vaping like a dream so far! 0.5 ohm twisted 26 gauge. It gets a little warm if I chain vape it. But no spitback at all.

It actually does decrease it a smidge but not to noticeable. Glad that works for you. Oh and the guy that showed you the drip tips page, Baditude, read his blogs on battery safety. ECF's battery guru especially when you get into the possibility of cloud chasing. ;) click on his picture and then click on the tab for his blogs. I am not at home right now or I could give you direct link. Oh, and you do not have to sacrifice the cool vape as much either for the clouds. Also, here is a good read on cloud chasing. as well. Took awhile to find but I did. Just a different option to do the same but at a safer rate so to speak. My thoughts about sub-ohm and latest VV/VW devices... | E-Cigarette Forum Oh, and by the way, welcome to a new era of your learning adventure here. ;)
