Hello,

I recently tried a blu brand menthol disposable from walgreens and it helped. After I got it and started enjoying it I was interested in learning more. I've found myself to be more addicted to the process of smoking and just the vapor than so much the cigarettes in general. After research I've seen some flavors I'd like to try from alien visions. However, I'm still not sure what exactly to buy. I'm looking to spend 30-35 dollars. I like the idea of the tank cartridges but I've read you can't use vg in them? Which AV uses a higher amount of vg. They have a starter kit on their website but I don't think they're tank cartridges? I want something that I can use the AVEliquids with I know that. Any suggestions on a start up kit for someone who likes throat hit along with good vapor draw and flavor? My Brain hurts. Thanks!

Tim

Hi, and welcome to the forum and vaping. Yes, there is a plethora of choices which can absolutely be confusing when you're starting out, but you definitely came to the right place for experienced advice. I've been a vaper since February of this year, but there are folks here with years of vaping behind them, so don't worry...you're in good hands here.

I started with a Joye 510 kit (which was just what I felt I needed at the time), but if I was starting today I would start with one of the kits recommended here in the forum, like the Volt, Kgo, or Ego. Whatever you choose, make sure the threads on the cartomizer match those on the device, such as 510 or 808. (don't worry; over time, all these names and numbers will become second-nature, like learning a new language)

Sounds like you're wondering if you can vape the high-VG juices Alien Visions has in a cartomizer/tank set-up? I have since I began vaping. I also vaped their juices in a cartomizer without a tank, but that required my having to add more juice to the cartomizer more often. Whether you use a cartomizer alone or with a tank, the key to success is filling the cartomizer first. It just takes a bit more patience with thicker juices. :)

I would start with the following based on what I've used

ego twist
ego usb charger
a clearomiser (a lot of ppl like the stardust/phoenix from gotvapes.com, I've only use the the Ego Vision Clearomiser V3 but I think it is better than the boge LR/SR by themselves, but you can get a box of 5 boge cartomiser for $6ish)(I am starting to find the constant topping off of carto a bit annoying... so I have been moving to clearomiser)
drip tip.

not sure what the best price/location to purchase them from, but they should come in around $35-40.

ego twist $23?
charger $5?
clearomiser $6-10
drip tip $2
shipping?

So I drip into the clearomiser correct? Can I vape different flavors from the same clearomiser? and another thought I had was $$$$. I smoke about a pack every day and a half. So roughly 12ish every 3 days. I'm trying to cut down on the expenses. Will this save me $$ also? I really appreciate the help. I tend to over think often.

You fill up the clearomizer with juice. If you want to vape a different one you need to empty it, clean it out a bit and then put the new juice in.

If you want to change juice often you pretty much need to use a dripping atomizer, or get enough cartomizers to fill each one with a juice and then mark them with what's in them, or rubber band them to the juice bottle. Those you can cap with a carto condom to keep them wet when they are not in use.

Saving money depends on what you spend for gear and juice and if you keep buying stinkies.

I think I'm confused. I'm thinking the cartomizers and tank cartridges are entirely different things. Are they not?

I was looking at this.

510 Starter Kits Category

However, the option wasabi5858 posted seems interesting also. Only problem is I have kids and I don't want one of them to get a hold of a bottle of e-liquid. So I'd have to keep them in my car or something.

I guess what I want is good flavor, good throat hit, and good vapor but I want it to be easily portable. This may be asking too much for a starter.

I'm honestly content with vaping one thing at a time. So that wouldn't be a huge issue I don't think. If "stinkies" are regular cigs. Nope. I plan on cutting those out all together. I vaped on my disposable for about 3 days and when I went back to regular smokes it was not pleasing.

My suggestion would be to pick up an atomizer for dripping while you are making the purchase. VG tends to be a bit tough on cartos. I've never used 100%vg with clearos so don't know too much about them. If you haven't already, pick up a drip tip as well.

Congrats! Keep posting, you'll be in the swing of things in no time.

The clearomiser I use (the only one I've try yet...) is this Vision eGo Clearomizer V3 (Exchangeable & Detachable)

You remove the mouthpiece and can drip directly in the tank. It holds about 1.5 ml of juice.

To use with another juice, you can take it apart, rinse well under water and then do a few dry burn and fill with a different flavor.

I don't know how many times you can do this before it is spent, but from what I've been gather, a single head should last you a few week (guessing 2-3). The coil head is oos right now on healthcabin, there are US vender selling it for around $4 each.

I believe it will save you money (until you learn more and want to try other setups :) )
The ego twist (costing a few dollar more than say a regular ego battery) is variable votage so it offer you a lot of flexibility on dialing it just right for the taste you want. What I am not so sure of is the best clearomiser/cartomiser choice. I have use both boge LR and SR by themselves (waiting for a tank to come to try the cartotank combo) and I feel that the clearomiser is a much better choice based on taste and convenience. Is there better clearomiser? I don't know... I will be buying a phoenix from gotvapes once it comes back in stock.

and oh, you don't need a drip tip if you buy a clearomiser. they are part of the set. Will want to have one if you want to buy a box of boge cartomiser (5 pcs of carto) tho which I think you should. Adds $6 to your budget but you will have a better idea of where you want to go.

A few things I've learned over the months are....

1. You don't need to buy an entire set up. You just need a battery holder, cartos or atomizer, drip tip and juices. Batteries and charger of course.

2. Dripping is not troublesome.

3. Carto, tank and clearo might sound convenient but honestly, they can create more problems and harder to troubleshoot.

4. Cheap juices are rarely good.

I started out with the SkyCig which are basically a UK version of the Blu (Made on the same production line I think) and they are not the best.

A good place to start in my opinion would maybe be a eGo started kit with the Vision Clearomizers (Some places they are called Vision Stardust in the US I think?) but they are much easier to fill than the Cartomizers I find and I have heard other places that sometimes using tank systems can cause leaking. Once I switched from the SkyCig to the eGo it was 100x better the battery will last you all day compared to the bad battery life of the smaller E-Cig's. The eGo 650mAh battery with the Vision Clearomizer on isn't that big to be honest.

That's just my personal opinion from my experience though I'm sure other people may recommend other things based on their experience but just try and find something that you think is right for you.

Congrats on trying to cut out analogs entirely. I personally wasn't able to quit from using the minis, like the disposables that you started with. It just didn't give me the TH or warm vape I was looking for. I know you said you were trying to stick to a tight budget, if you could stretch it to a few dollars more I would recommend doing what I did and get a tube style mod and cartos. It will give you more power and replace those analogs just like that. I'm sure you can find great deals on the classies, at least I been told that. Haven't hit my 20 posts yet, so I haven't gone on there yet. I found a great deal on mine online with discount codes and free e-juice giveaways, you can definitely get it done in a cost effective way. Even after you get bit the vaping mod bug like a lot of us.lol All I can say is the first time I used my v-tube was the last time of touched an analog(Newport). Happy vaping

hello and welcome, every body has given you great advice to chew on so here is my 0.02¢ it will be a little over what you want to spend but you will be set up good until you can find your perfect set up... i woul go with either the epower or the kgo both have a really huge fan base and with good reasons next pick up a vivi nova it is easy to fill up and is a great little clearomizer tank it comes with three replaceable heads and i would use the 1.8ohm head with either the epower or kgo. now then that is my 0.02¢ for what it is worth.. also remember that ecf and youtube are going to be your new BFF until you can get a handle on all of this vaping stuff, so good luck and remember its all good in da hood when you got love peace & chicken grease...
