I am new here, I liked the reviews of the pilot hybrid from Puresmokers.com. I Any idea when I could order 2 of them at the earliest? Dumb question of the day, do you have to use e-liquid from them to fill the empty cartridges that come with the units? Thanks for your patience.

Nope. You can use any eliquid you like - even mix your own if you feel creative, but it's probably best to start with comercially prepared formulations. Puresmokers juice has a good reputation (though I've never tried it,) so you can save a bit of postage probably by ordering some with your hardware.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum!

If I read you right, you're asking if the carts are empty when you get them, and the answer is that they're pre-filled and ready to go. You use the liquid to refill them when they're used up, so you don't need to buy liquid with the starter kits.

It's a good idea to order a bottle anyway, because the carts don't last all that long - they're the equivalent of maybe 3 or 4 analog ciggies at best.

Thanks Strayling for clarifying that. I wonder if they have a marlboro equivalent liquid?

There are flavours which attempt to replicate the taste of brands like Marlboro, Camel and 555. In my opinion they don't really manage it and I doubt it's possible without adding the whole nasty chemical soup contained in tobacco smoke 8-o

The good news is that vapour tastes better than smoke to many (most?) people, and there are so many flavours to choose from :D Various companies sell sampler sets with small bottles of assorted flavours so you can find out which you like before shelling out for a large bottle. Check the supplier forums here for recommendations.

A word on what strength liquid to buy. It goes from no nicotine at all right up to 36mg. If you're a pack-a-day smoker I recommend starting with something around 8 to 12mg while you get used to vaping and adjust when you get a feel for what works for you.

Welcome, and good luck!

Nick, I wish I could brew my own juice but I am short Eye of Newt or frog lips to be brewing my own potions:D

Probably wise if you want to extract your own nicotine (though that too can be done if you've an inclination to Mad Science ;)) but you can also buy flavourless nic juice, and flavour it to taste with Loranns/Prestige essences/liquidxpress flavourings, etc.

It's a popular entertainment for the creatively inclined. Lots of advice to be had in the DIY e-liquid forum. But you've probably got enough of a learning curve ahead of you right now without worrying about that yet :)

If you wanted a cheap/spare/first taster device, there's a great offer on until the end of the month for a 901 kit for $29.99 including shipping: http://www.e-cigarette-mart.com/black-dse901-mini-ecig-starter-kit-5-cartridges-free-p-81.html

Mine arrived today, and it's a good quality bargain - always useful to have a spare, and at that price everyone ought to get one.

I got a sample pack from PS last week and have made my way through most of the included flavors. The 555 is definitely my favorite so I felt confident ordering a larger size.

I smoke Marlboro's too. Ultra-lights and Mediums and while the 555 isn't quite the same it tastes good to me. Maybe like a slightly improved Marlboro. Taste is such a subjective thing, though - maybe you wouldn't like it as much. Cashcap and French Pipe were very nice too, I thought.

Not just subjective, but varies between devices - my Eastmall lychee is much nicer in my minipipe, but rather harsh in my screwdriver. The ecigs.co.uk cigar flavour tastes greasily of peanut oil in the minipipe, but deliciously nutty in the screwdriver.
I'd guess light, fruity flavours benefit from lower temperatures, while rounder nutty/chocolatey flavours are better in hotter devices (though that's only my impression so far.)
So don't write off a flavour entirely if you have more than one device (and most of us seem to,) - try it on all of them, because you may be pleasantly surprised.
